It has become very clear to me that very few of you actually understand how to write a quality belly rub beyond just the obligatory “hand goes on round object and makes a circle.”
This is a travesty. This must be corrected immediately.

stop with this bland “big,” “round,” “gurgly” nonsense! those words are fine but use them sparingly. More personality! Better descriptors!
The caretaker…
touched • rubbed • kneaded • massaged • stroked • smoothed their palm over • felt with their fingers • worked against a cramp • chased away a twinge • soothed a tight spot • eased the ache • patted • pressed • held
They did this…
with broad circles • small circles • back and forth • under the curve • over the curve • against the side • atop the crest • under the ribs • around the navel • across the lower belly • soothingly • encouragingly • with amusement • in concern
If I see anyone daring to use the abominations “poked” or “prodded” on a Tummy In Need, I will personally come to your blog and arrest you.
The belly owner…

yes they are are part of this equation too!! The tummy is a vital, precious part of the person who owns it; Do Not leave them out of this. the way their belly looks/sounds is irrelevant if they don’t feel and react accordingly!
