Working on a little video with screenshots of every variation of Tommy’s hobbit hole dirt house that’s existed over the course of a year and MAN, you really can carbon date the era of a vod by which version of the house it is.
Started from nothing but a dirt hole, of course, with some doors
It looked actually kind of nice at the beginning with a combination of wood and smooth stone through the Disc War
Then Tubbo and co reduced it to the ground during the July 12 war and it got rebuilt into the pure dirt mound we all know and love again. No doors this time
You can blame Eret for the crafting table flooring right at the start of L’manburg. There’s a little lilac flower that sits out front until the war
When Dream rebuilt it after Fundy’s prank, he added the smooth stone flooring
Wilbur planted random spruce trees around the front, and the streams from Church Prime’s era can be distinguished by the glitter-bomb of torches at the entrance
Then the rest became a growing patchwork of cobble until it was eventually upgraded to smooth stone
There’s the era where Quackity and Karl kept building giant houses on top and in front of it, then Ninja’s house cropped up and that was the end of that
The house kind of lost its front wall over the course of Manberg era and the floor got magma block’d. You can briefly see the Dreamon trap sprout up on the lawn
Just before the S1 finale it got covered in buttons
Tommy prettied it up a bit with Phil after the war, Connor’s house got added and taken down
Exile-era is Puffy’s granite version that slowly deteriorates block by block with nobody to maintain it. Occasionally there’s a Blood Vine here or there as it erodes
Tommy rebuilt it back to dirt, it got turned to Netherrack a second time and of course you can’t forget the American “upside-down T” that was there for a moment
You see the hotel crop up in the background after the finale
Then it got covered in flowers and surrounded by statues when Tommy died.
The statues are gone now, but the flowers are still there.
