almost 10 months of being single and i often think about, "will i ever love again?" sure, it's just been months and i'm still young but the thought of being vulnerable, caring and nurturing to someone i want to spend the rest of my life with seems to make me squirm, wince and even draw back from that imagination. i am not the girl who craves love anymore. i became cold, numb, aloof about how others feel about me. all i had was temporary attractions and pleasures. but i can't see myself loving someone so passionately like i used to before. is there something wrong? is this how i heal? is being numb makes you feel strong?

all i know is i dont care anymore. whether i'd be alone or not. if i jumped from one situationship to another just to get my needs. it doesn't matter if 5 years or 10 years from now i still haven't found the one who will love me, because i'm done with love.

of course, i'm not practically numb or aloof about other people. i still love loving my friends and taking care of them and making them happy, i love nurturing my nephews and be the best aunt they need, i still love going home to my family with food that i knew they like because i love to see their faces brighten. i love going on a date with myself and buy everything i like because i know i deserve it. i love helping strangers when i knew they're in need because i know all of us is struggling.

and maybe my heart is still capable of loving someone, but right now, i'm not prepared for it. i'm not even sure if i'm still equipped for it. parts of me died that night, and i know allowing myself to love someone is one of those.

If you've seen this hashtag around, feel free to support it! It's the beginning of Campaign Season in the Philippines and everyone is hopeful for the future. Here's why.

In the Philippines, we've been under horrific, anti-human rights, murderous leadership for the past 6 years.

You all know Rodrigo "I will be Hitler and Drug Addicts will be Jews" Duterte. You know he ran a drug war that killed over 30,000 people in Extra Judicial Killings. That we know of.

That was what we had for the longest time. And he mishandled the pandemic as badly as you'd think for someone who hates human rights.

But then there's Leni Robredo.

She's our Vice President. The admin has been trying to push her out for 6 years because she's an actual good leader.

She's a grassroots lawyer, she's ALWAYS there in person during calamities, she's been running independent pandemic relief, she has 0 record of corruption, the Commission of Audit has been marking her office one of the most reliable in the entire government for the entirety of her Vice Presidency.

She. Is. Amazing. And she's running for President!

"Kulay Rosas Ang Bukas" stands for "The colour pink is the future", because pink is her campaign colour. Many people, including perhaps artists you follow on social media, have been showing their support for her campaign.

Now Motzie, you ask, if she's so beloved, why is everyone going so hard on campaigning for her?

Excellent question.

Enter, BBM or Bongbong Marcos.

SON OF A DICTATOR, LITERALLY HAS A "COURT CASES" SECTION ON WIKIPEDIA, IS USING THE BILLIONS OF PESOS HIS FATHER STOLE FROM THE PHILIPPINES TO FUND HIS CAMPAIGN AND AN ARMY OF INTERNET TROLLS

He also consistently denies, alongside his family, the egregiousness of the long dictatorship and Martial Law his father (and unofficially, his mother) ran for years.

And he's running for President. The absolute clown is paying big money to erase the crimes of his family and his own harmful actions. His mother is pushing it possibly because she was CONVICTED in 2018 and still hasn't been imprisoned, and having a President for a son could keep her out of jail.

I won't stay too long on this criminal idiot. He doesn't deserve attention. The point is that he's paid, with the people's money, to run campaigns to LIE to the people.

And the reason everyone pushes so hard for Leni to win is so that the Marcoses, the family of dictators who stole billions from the Philippines, will lose.

And the reason we want Leni to win is because she's actually a good leader.

I can't list EVERYTHING she's done, but here's a summary:

Was on the ground for multiple calamities in the Philippines to aid people

Was running pandemic aid consistently better than the actual Philippine government under Duterte, which tried on multiple occasions to push her out

BBM has been holding a grudge on her for years for "stealing" the Vice Presidency from him when he tried this back in 2016

Even if it's not healthy to place ALL your hopes and dreams onto one person, she's very clearly interested in making the country better, in contrast with Marcos.

If you see all the love for our Pink Presidential Candidate floating around, feel free to support it for the hope of a better future for the Philippines.

And if you want to do your own research, feel free to!

But here's a quick glossary of additional terms for context:

1) Rosas = Pink (Filipino), also Rose (Filipino)

2) Kakampink = a play on the word Kakampi (Ally) but with "pink" in the word

3) LeniKiko2022 = I can't speak much on Kiko Pangilinan, the VP candidate campaigning with Leni. All I can say is that in the Philippines you can vote for Presidents and VPs separately. Kiko was her candidate pick. I need to do more research before I can safely say anything about Kiko, but they're definitely campaigning together!

Weekend activities that cultivate your mind:

go to a local museum or gallery. observe everything — other patrons, the art, the information, whatever you can learn

find a coffee shop along a busy street and order something special. sit at a table near a window or on the patio and people watch

pick up a book from your local bookstore and read it in its entirety. notice how you feel before, during, and after.

clean your space. (happy space, happy mind)

go for a mini-trip. find a new city a few hours away and travel there. while you’re there, do at least one thing you’d not normally do in your own city

eat a meal at a fancy restaurant by yourself.

grab your journal and write down in detail everything about your “ideal self”. act like that person from here on out

have a movie-marathon with a docu-series! really pay attention to what is happening

grab a copy of the local newspaper and read it. staying on top of local news is so important

volunteer for a local food bank or clothing drive

go to the botanical gardens. bring a plant ID book with you and your journal and look up and document the plants you don’t know

spend time with your friends.

call your mom (or anyone you need to catch up with) and ask how they’re doing. really listen to what’s going on in their life. pay attention

go through your closet and donate what you no longer wear. remember, if it doesn’t align with your dream self, it’s not serving you anymore

write a letter or a poem or a short story. really pay attention to grammar and vocabulary. see what you need to brush up on

magandang umaga, may napagtanto ako, hindi nga siguro ako ganun kahalaga kasi sa una may nga taong ipaparamdam sayo na espesyal ka tapos sa susunod na araw parang wala ka na lang sa kanila. na palagi kong tinatanong bakit ang bilis magbago, ang bilis mapagod, ang bilis sumuko. pero nitong mga nakaraang araw din naisip ko na baka kasalanan ko din naman, baka kasi ako talaga yung problema? yung may kulang? yung kapuna-puna. kasi hindi naman sila magbabago kung nakikita nilang karapat-dapat pa ako doon sa pagmamahal na binibigay nila, o sa mga ginagawa nila, minsan naiisip ko, paano kung masanay ako sa ganito tapos mag expect nang mag expect. edi sa huli mas ako lang din yung masasaktan? hayyy!! :((
