Let's see what I came up with today...
So, main focus, the Lazarus pits. Shocking, I know.
But instead of Lazarus Waters being the equivalent of sewage in the ghost zone.
What if it was something nice, like pure sugar or Honey?
Turns out, The Observants, seeing the amount of lazarus dwindle by the minute because ghosts of all kinds kept going after it. (And the source having been destroyed by Pariah, the asshole) They decided "Hey, let's scatter all of it to random places in the human realm, that way it'll be harder to find."
(Reason the Observants don't eat it themselves is because they're probably diabetic or something)
And so, bam, Lazarus pits.
The Pit Rage and stuff happens because of the dark magic used to sustain the Pits in the human world.
To Ghosts? The Dark magic was like putting spices or flavors on it- So it just tastes even better.
Cut to Jason and Danny meeting by whatever reason and Danno is barely capable of stopping himself from salivating at the mere smell of the Lazarus left-overs on Jason.

Frostbite is both worried for Jason, and impressed that he managed to handle the corrupted ectoplasm so well.
Funnily enough, Ra's is so corrupted that he can't become a ghost, because pure ectoplasm would straight up destroy him. Most of his being is that corrupted ectoplasm, so if he ever went into the ghost zone is would destroy him to keep him from infecting the rest of the Infinite Realms.

Jason didn’t enjoy dying. At all. Like a good 2/10 would not book again. Being resurrected? A solid 0/10. But lately, there’s been something different. About him? About Gotham? Hard to tell, but there’s definitely something strange going on. He can feel it, in his belly, right next to a nicely healed bullet wound from last week. So, when he was forcibly dragged by Dickie to his first family dinner in at least a year, it didn’t come as the worst surprise when he keeled over and vomited up bright, toxic green (embarrassing). After all, he had been feeling a bit off lately. So no, that wasn’t the problem. No, the problem was the humanoid, spiritual-like body that spilled out of his mouth with it.
Meanwhile, Danny was rather enjoying his day off. First one in at least two years since he took up the mantle of the ghost king. He had originally planned to catch up on some sleep, maybe play some doomed – imagine his disappointment when he was suddenly climbing out of some random guys pie hole. Disgusting.
Alternatively: Jason’s a portal to the ghost zone, Danny will never have peace.

Danny ghost adopting Jason. Which means the ghost king had an easily accessible son.
Ghost from all over come to gotham to see "the little baby" and jason now has to deal with ghosts cooing over him and giving him stuff.
No one tries to fight him because one time someone went after dani and they got beat into the ground so hard it made everyone aware that while you can fight the king, his children are off limits.
The batfam is concerned that when red hood gets shot a fuck ton of ghosts appear and beat the guy with the gun.
The joker hasnt known peace since it came out who killed Jason.

A Ghost King Danny AU but it’s just random ghosts going ‘door to door’ and asking people, “Would you like to hear about our Lord and savior Danny Phantom?” (Because he is a lord/king and by beating Pariah he’s the GZ/IR savior.)
Make it a cross over and include other characters in the mailing list.
Members of the Batfam keep getting stalked by multiple ghosts. Because a good portion of them have died and come back via/interacted with the green soup before making them a part of the Ghost and Liminal Malling List, run by the one and only: Box Ghost ;).
Jason constantly has to be moving safe houses because he keeps getting letters addressed to his real name at them.
Depending on which Bat-cannon is followed Cass could also get the letters, but Damien doesn’t get any because he’s a minor or Bruce gets them in his stead.
Ra’s and Thalia are also getting mail except theirs just keeps violently shooting out of the Lazarus pit at concerning speeds.

DP x DC prompt where Jason is instinctually terrified of ghosts and Danny.
Not even an eldritch, fully-realized Ghost King Danny– just a short, 5′1″ ghost child.
The gross, corrupted ectoplasm in Jason’s system just gives him immediate red flags whenever something with pure ectoplasm is in the vicinity. Jason freezes up the first time he meets Danny and has to resist the urge to run. He tells the family that there is something deeply wrong and terrifying about the kid, and Dick just thinks it’s funny– especially once he realizes the ghost kid is actually a friendly goofball who is easily bribed by burgers.
Things only worsen when Jason encounters Danny, Bruce’s latest adoptee, and just– leaves. Turns around and walks out of the Manor and doesn’t stop walking until his heart stops pounding.
Danny can sense the gross ectoplasm in Jason and keeps trying to corner him to help, but Jason can sense when Danny is anywhere remotely nearby and books it.
Danny has to eventually just tackle him and drag him, kicking and screaming, to Frostbite.

Who really brought Jason to life?
Danny walked through the graveyard, his long, starry cape floating among the headstones. His crown hovered above his head, glowing faintly in the dark of the night. Cujo had run off again and he had the 'hilarious' idea of hiding in a graveyard.
"Why can't you stop causing trouble, you little shit?" Danny mumbled. "Cujo! Where are you boy?"
A wisp of blue came out of his mouth and he saw Cujo floating over a simple, stone headstone. Shaking his head in disappointment, Danny flew over and grabbed the green puppy.
"That one's dead, boy, but not a ghost. Leave it alone," he said, and then opened a portal to his kingdom of the Infinite Realms.
However, as he entered the portal, his long, celestial cloak brushed against the simple grave. The stars and purple and blue hues sunk into the ground, unnoticed by the young ghost king.
When the portal closed, the graveyard was plunged into darkness again. However, a soft thumping could be heard. A couple minutes later, a hand emerged from the grave with the simple, stone headstone. A headstone that read:
Here lies Jason Todd

This was inspired by this artwork by @currently-haunted and these panels from Batman: Under the Red Hood. The cape basically just reminded me of the universe shit that brings Jason back to life (I made a post about it a little while ago).

aaaaaa fk it, Jason’s sort of a halfa after his swim in the Lazarus pit (corrupted ectoplasm and all that jazz) + newly crowned Danny (maybe like 3 years into Red Hood’s debut) can “sense” other halfas in the world.
Danny, not wanting be feel alone anymore (Dani’s… more “dead” than being a halfa and Vlad doesn’t count, fk him) makes it his personal mission to meet and befriend the other halfa. Of course, it’s hard because how do you find another halfa if you don’t know how they look like and where they live.
Let’s just say that because ectoplasm is involved, Danny assumes that it’s probably an ectobiologist (or someone in the ghost hunting field, because he was technically made in a lab and only ectobiologist or the GIW has access to ectoplasm). He starts researching on ectobiologist and their families, looking to see if any of them had gotten into an accident, and hacking the GIW database for any human to ghost/halfa experiments (and thankfully, there was none BUT he was ready to throw hands at them).
As to why other ghosts don’t invade or Gotham or the LOA is purely due to the lack of CLEAN ectoplasm in the air, and it’s not like they can feel when a new ghost/halfa is born/made/died???
Cue, Danny moving to Gotham with Jazz because she landed a job at Arkham as a psychologist. Why Gotham? It was the only place that would accept Jazz because not many places would accept someone from what the world deemed a “whack job town filled with crazies”. Also, her resume was flawless.
So one night, Danny was woken up by his core feeling a little bit funny and decided to sit by the fire escape that’s right outside his room. Danny’s ghost senses go off and he was ready to interact (or fight) the nearby ghost but was slightly confused when he didn’t see a ghost but instead, Red Hood pulling up near a dumpster for a smoke. (No helmet but Jason was wearing his “uniform” + domino mask)
Danny stood up and the noise attracted Jason’s attention. Time seemed to slow down as they made eye contact and Danny could feel his core buzzing. Both their eyes flashed green and it was so bright that it showed through Jason’s mask.
Danny jumped down from the fire escape and Jason whipped out his gun.
Jason was internally packing because
A man just jumped down from a high level and seemed fine.
The pit seemed to recognise said man but it didn’t make Jason want to kill/hurt him.
THE PIT RECOGNISED THE MAN AS SOMEONE NOT TO BE FUCKED WITH (ghost king things yk)
Danny, on the other hand, was excited? relieved? concerned??
He found the second halfa
He’s not alone anymore
Why does Red Hood’s core feel kinda funny
After what seemed like hours, Danny tackled Jason into a hug, lifted him and spun him around (because why not and i think it’s cute). Jason’s panic turned to confusion real quick because how did a lean skinny 175cm stranger carry his hulking 187cm self??
Danny finally put Jason down and Jason bombarded him with questions (who are you? what the fuck are you doing?).
Danny explained to Jason that he had been looking for Jason and that set of alarms in Jason’s head. The gun now pointed to Danny’s head and Danny started to ramble about why he was looking for Jason.
(Oh my god, I just realised that sounded super fucking weird. I’m a halfa, you’re a halfa and I’ve been looking for you--- not specifically you because I had no idea who you were but like yeah. So…pleasedon’tkillmeRedHood,sir??????
“what’s a halfa?”
“oh uh.. it’s half a ghost half a human because we died but it didn’t stick? we got better… but i’m not sure why but you came back wrong?? Not that there’s anything wrong with you but like you just feel off?? It’s like your core’s kinda wonky. It can be fixed though! Frostbite — he’s a ghost yeti!— kinda taught me how to fix mine when it got all weird and stuff. Do you want me to fix yours?”
“what’s a core?”
“You don’t kno— okay, that kinda makes sense because this place LACKS ectoplasm and ghosts would usually stay away from this place … or maybe it’s cause Lady Goth— wait, no let me just get back to the whole core thing. A core is basically the ‘heart’ and the ‘brain’ of a ghost.”)
and Danny goes on to further explain what a core it. Jason’s already accepting it at this point because his life’s already hectic (the things you see as an anti-hero… nothing phases him anymore). Jason accepts Danny’s offer to fix his core and Danny brings Jason up to his room cause it’s gonna take quite a while and he just wants to spend time with Jason.
Back in Danny’s room, Danny asks Jason to transform which makes Jason go ???? transform???????. Danny shows Jason what he meant by transforming but Jason still doesn’t get how to do it. So, Danny takes Jason’s hand and helps him transform into his ghost form. (Jason’s ghost form is his 15 year old self and his tattered Robin uniform)
It hurt a lot at first. Jason felt like he was dying again but Danny noticed his discomfort and took the pain away (perks of being ghost king ig). When Jason first saw his ghost form, he went into a panic attack (I mean… He literally looks like the day he died and he had to re experience his death again)
Danny, not being so smart, decided that it was the perfect time to shove his hand in Jason’s chest and pull out the contaminated ectoplasm and replacing it with his own ectoplasm. Again, was it painful? very! and Jason ended up passing out. With Jason knocked out, it was easier to work with the core and get it fully fixed.
Jason woke up feeling like shit but also calm. It was traumatising to see his tattered suit and relive his death again, but he felt significantly better. He didn’t wake up feeling angry (okay, a little bit but you can’t really blame him for it). Since the pit rage wasn’t there anymore, Jason didn’t really feel like getting rid of Danny’s half human side and turning him into a hashtag.
Danny explaining to Jason about what he just did and asked him how he was feeling. They went into a big discussion about what it means now that Jason’s core is fixed and yeah! They bother hugged it out and just ended up talking for the remainder of the night.
Jason finally feeling better and calm. Danny happy that he’s not alone and is able to help Jason deal with his ghost form.
Aftermath of it all: JAZZ
Jazz woke up to Danny Phantom and a Ghost Robin
Does she freak out? yeap.
I mean, Danny’s ghost form is his 14 year old self AND Jason’s ghost form … is kinda bloody?? and it’s 15 year old Jason
Jazz just like “yk what? this is Danny this is normal.” and proceeds to make breakfasts for all 3 of them
BATFAMILY
Confused? Worried? CONCERNED
Jason doesn’t seem so angry anymore which is weird
His eyes are blue again?????? SINCE WHEN!!
The first time Bruce pisses Jason off? He transform into his ghost form and appears in front of Bruce.
Bruce went into a full blown panic attack
Jason feels bad and swears not to do it again.
This of course led to Jason having to explain how he could do that
Bruce stalks the Fentons and adopts Danny and Jazz

Passive Ecto-contamination and how Jazz Fenton is probably classifiable as a meta in the DCU
So, I’ve been on a Danny Phantom and Batman crossover binge recently, and I have to say, we don’t talk enough about how likely it is that the entire Fenton family, but especially Jazz, probably has enough ecto-contamination to count as a meta-human.
This girl has lived her entire life around ectoplasm (bc Maddie and Jack were working with it before they were together and you know they don’t care enough about lab safety to have stopped when Maddie was pregnant or when Jazz was little) and her late teens living two floors above a dimensional rift. She may not be a halfa, but she is 100% not fully human after living her entire life being surrounded, and sometimes ingesting, ectoplasm and it’s radiation.
I think Jazz in particular would get some more passive ghost powers. She’s got her own obsession in her drive to be a psychologist, but I’m pretty sure she’s also tougher than a normal human. She can take blasts from Vlad pretty much on par with Danny, and while her parent’s inventions don’t work on her as well as they do Danny, the do still effect her. (Yes, I might be extrapolating from the vacuum gag, don’t @ me.)
Her eyes probably glow a bit in the dark, she heals faster than a normal squishy human, and she ages slower than she should if she weren’t ecto-contaminated.
All of this to say, that I 100% think that if they existed in the same universe, the Lazarus waters would just be, like, rancid ectoplasm that’s been cut off from the Zone but still retained its powers (probably because of all of the dead people shoved into it tbh) and that it would be really fuckin’ funny if a fully healthy Jazz Fenton was pushed into the Waters, only to come up spluttering and complaining about how gross that is.
