where is alterity without in some form the historic act of proletarianization? detaching the two is how one arrives at the moral dualisms of contemporary political discourse that attempts to denote an equivalency universally. Liberals adore invoking Fanon for his Manichaean colonial poetics because in these moments, as Fanon observes, class seems to dissolve amidst the fiery nebula of colonial war. What is more beneficial to the liberal than the universalization of that motto ("motto" in the sense that it is made essentially dehistoricized) that economics has finally ceased to exist in the face of the pure clashes of racialized individuals. I am wary of rote moralization on the part of those in the western left with regards to israel because they aim to apply this reductive reading of Fanon to evade a historical and materialist analysis(which, mind you, is undeniably present for Fanon). Material expropriation is a mass violent process surely, but should not be observed as some transcendent act of cruelty that it is made out to be by well-meaning liberals. States only dispense and create "oppression" insofar as they engage in the act of wide formal subsumption. War is only the performance of this act brought to its most fervent, frothing dialectical point.
