anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

I've been having a migraine for the last... day or so and unrelated to that I seriously devoured all three existent Divergent movies. I don't know if my brain is to blame but I was really into it only to find out that: 1) there is no fourth/final installment and 2) peeking at book spoilers, I probably do not want there to be.

Are these movies very silly and also the worldbuilding is kind of shaky? Sure.

But is every actor, including Oscar nominees and winners, having a hell of a good time chewing scenery and looking great in various sci-fi outfits? Definitely.

gotta admit I talk a big game about avoiding The TikTok Algorithm and all that garbage but probably another big reason is just. with every single one. This Could Have Been A Text Post. I'm sorry, you want me to take the worst part of social interaction (listening to other people talk very slowly) and just... do that? that's a deliberate part of the experience? you people do this... for fun? instead of reading text like God intended??

This has been driving me nuts for years. I don't know if you've got Android, but the latest version of Sound Assistant (which I think you have to actively download, and it may be a Samsung only thing) allows for muting/regulating the sound of individual apps. I put all the games on there and I finally have blessed quiet when listening to podcasts.

It's SO fucked up that mobile apps don't require permission to use the speakers on my mobile device. They have to ask before using my camera or my mic, but not my speakers? They can just mute my music whenever they feel like it??

Wrong and disgusting.

The older I get the more I admire people who are earnestly, genuinely into whatever their thing is. I know it sounds like an annoying cliche but unless you're being cruel or hurtful there is really no need to be normal about things. The dude with the bad fake accent at the renaissance faire is having the time of his life. The people having photoshoots with their fashion dolls are loving it. The old lady with a yard unreasonably full of tacky ass lawn ornaments is having a blast, HOA be damned.
