Here's a fun game for you people at home. Try saying every letter of the Alphabet as fast as you can, except when you reach the end don't say:
Y and Z
just skip straight from Y to Z. It can save you one whole sylable!

Two images; one with text and one without, because I worked very hard on this.
This is my first complete crowd shot, and I can definitively say I have a new found understanding and appreciation of orgy scenes. Not that that is what I did, of course. Only because it is tangentialy related. So many characters in complex positions...

So I had a "project" that required some art, but then Serberus syndrome struck again and now these serve no purpose.

I mean- I can still use them if I want, but at least not for a long, long while whilst I work on something else.

Gosh, I really love this passionate theorizing. Even if it ultimately amounts to nothing; it's just speculation and understanding for its own sake, I absolutely love it.
I have a weird question. I was watching Zootopia and started wondering, would beastmen be affected by Night Howlers? Would Octavinelle being mer creatures be affected? Would Malleus be affected since he's a dragon fey?
Tumblr media
It’s been a while since I watched Zootopia, so I went to consult various wiki pages to make sure my information is correct 😅
For people who haven’t seen the film, Night Howlers (also known as Midnicampum holicithias) are flowers that have potent psychological effects on those thar consume it or are exposed to its pollen. They induce a chemical reaction in the brain which significantly decreases activity in most parts except the cerebellum (a part of the brain primarily responsible for balance and movement), which becomes hyper stimulates. This essentially shuts down the victim’s higher reasoning and reverts them to a wildly aggressive savage state.
Something I want to point out is that, across all of the sources I referenced, it was stated that only mammals are affected by Night Howlers while bugs are outright killed by them (making Night Howlers an effective bug repellant). I think a lot of our immediate assumptions are “the flowers only affect non-human animals”, but I think that’s only because we never see any humans in Zootopia (which creates a representation bias). If we follow that reasoning, wouldn’t that mean that humans in general (since they are mammals) would be affected by Night Howlers??? 🤔
As for beastmen, merfolk, and fairies… I think whether or not they’re affected (or the degree to which they’re affected) depends largely on how much of them (ie each race) counts as “human”.
Beastmen appear to be mostly human with a few animal traits (mainly their ears and tails), as well as some instinctual behavior (cat/like reflexes on Leona, heightened strength/hearing/speed, etc). I would think that they would probably be affected by Night Howlers, as they boast both traits of humans and what we typically think of as a wild animal.
Merfolk are technically only half human, and half something else entirely, so it’s a bit more murky to hazard a guess on how they would be changed by the flowers. Most sea creatures (yes, including octopuses and eels) do not count as mammals, which conflicts with the key components for Night Howler effectiveness.
There also exists the question of how the merfolks’ transformation potions affect the structure of their cells in order to allow them to have a human form. Does that magic actually temporarily alter their DNA to appear as 100% “human” while they’re under the influence of the transformation potion? If so, wouldn’t that make Night Howlers much more effective on merfolk if they’re in their human forms versus their true forms? However, it’s also possible that merfolk would be affected the same as humans or beastmen, as Night Howlers change the activity in parts of the brain—and as far as we know, merfolk (being half human on top, and retaining that part of themselves in their potion-induced human forms) have similar brain structure as humans. We don’t really have enough information to say. At best, I’d that merfolk would still probably be affected.
I actually don’t think fairies would be affected at all by Night Howlers; unlike beastmen and merfolk, fae seem to be defined as a race entirely different than humans (even if some appear humanoid, the fact remains that they may have “true forms” which can be not human-like at all). This is most notably demonstrated in how fairies consistently refer to non-fairies as “Children of Man”, which defines all others as one group/“of Man” and themselves as decidedly not that. Fairies are also noted as having noticeably longer lifespans than other creatures, appearing youthful even if they are hundreds of years old. Again, this strongly separates fairies from humans, beastmen, and merfolk.
We must also consider that, depending on the species of fairy, they may not count as mammals. For example, dragons are most closely related to reptiles, which aren’t mammals, so it’s likely that dragon fae like Malleus (overpoweredness aside) aren’t affected by Night Howlers. However, the case may be different if there was a subspecies of fairy that did have mammalian traits. It really depends; as Malleus says, there are countless kinds of fae so you can’t really boil them down to being the same thing.

Hell yes! I love 2D animated characters danceing around in 3D environments. I love stylistic low framerate animation. I love line boil.
Wha... What do you mean the resolution of my GIFs can't even reach 700 pixels wide or tall? The fluffing heck! I only even draw most of the time at 768×1024, and you're saying you can not handle that?

See that! I can turn multiple PNGs into a single GIF. It took me all evening to find out how to do this, and I simply HAD to show it off. I am so unreasonably proud of myself.
All this to say I still won't do serious animation. This motion is just for extra flavor.
Now all I need to do is learn how to texture my 3D backgrounds correctly...

Sometimes I simply need to switch back to drawing on paper when I get tired of digital, and by chance, Luna, a character made to pad out a roster, is given extra characterization(and a last name).

Doug Scotch M 20
Tumblr media
Doug was made, in all intents and porpose, to be Katt's foil. Lazy writing, I know. The two opposites would be forced to share an apartment where their polarizing personalities would produce hyjinx, situational comedy style. Given his size, which is helped mostly by his species, he is one of the larger characters, which makes Katt so scared of him, yet he still could be classified as a himbo.
He is a comic relief, not by being witty and cracking jokes himself, but because he is an adorable doofus. He's not an idiot though, he's just inexperienced and oblivious to many basic knowledge of the time, which may or may not come from his mothers' horribly biased homeschooling.

Monnie Bonabell Korda

Absolutely my all time favorite OC, yet I can never draw her in a consistant and satisfying way. I needed a rabbit to check the box on my list of species, but other than that, she didn't have much to her. That is until I came up with the perfect name and everything about her just came naturally to me.
Now she a subversion of(in universe) rabbit stereotypes. She is a skilled guitarist and singer and a surprisingly talented therapist, and those two skills are linked.

Katt Couda F 21

She was my very first OC dating back to when I was in middle school absent-mindedly doodling through social studies and reading Rick Riordan through science class. Back then she was just a plain and quick to draw head that would seemingly materialize in the margins of assignments. One day, I decided her gender with a literal coin flip and ever since, for many years, she was my mascot. Slowly over the course of many years her characterization grew. She became a closet specist journalist with an unhealthy relationship with her mother and an almost fetishist love of modern science.
Until 2019 when I realized I was a furry and created my fursona.
