Rick Sanchez x reader
(Just to let you guys know this is my first time writing and posting fanfic so it might not be that good)
âH-hey rick?â Morty says as he enters the garage to see Rick working on a new gadget.
âWhat Morty?! C-canât you see Iâm busy!â He retorts in an annoyed tone not bothering to look at Morty.
âJeez RickâŚBeth w-wanted you too meet her f-friendâ morty replies in an upset tone before storming off to his room and slamming the garage door. Rick groans in annoyance debating on wether he should meet his daughters friend.
âFuck itâ he says under his breath as he pushes his project away and gets up, moving to the garage door and opening it. Making his way to the kitchen to see Beth and the back of a person heâs never met before.
âHey dad! Come meet my friendâ Beth puts her hand on your shoulder forcing you to turn and face the old man.
âThis is y/n, y/n this is my dad Rickâ you look him up and down with a monotone face, the same as ricks which surprises him. Heâs used to Bethâs friends to being awkward and or more friendly but you seemed different. Rick clears his throat and looks at Beth then you then Beth again.
âUh nice to meet you I guessâ rick says in a monotone with his hands tucked away in his lab coat pockets.
âYeah sameâ you say not bothering to give the âsmartest man in the universeâ any attention making Beth cringe at the awkward silence that falls after.
âWell I think you guys should get to know each other!â Beth chimes in trying to make her dad more social which leads to both you and Rick to snap your heads to look at her.
âWhat?â Both you and Rick say in unison. Beth smiles awkwardly.
âWell I thought cause you both have a âDonât careâ attitude you could I donât know, become friends??â
Your eyebrows furrow and before you can say anything Rick replies.
âSure thing honeyâ he says with a fake smile trying to make his daughter happy before dragging you to the garage.
âHey what the hell!â You say confused as rick just goes to sit down at his work bench.
âLook when Beth wants something she stops at nothing to have it. So if we had said no she wouldâve just kept nagging.âhe says both bothering to look at you as he sits down and starts working on his gadget. You sigh, he was right after all.
âSo what now?â You say walking to the bench he was sitting at and lean on it.
âJust uhh- I donât know tell me about yourself or something. Not like Iâll listen but whateverâ he says still head down tinkering away. You think for a moment before replying.
âWell, Iâm 34, live in an apartment and work as a high school science teacher. Not because ur like it because itâs the only decent job around that pays wellâ this makes ricks ears perk.
âYour a science teacher?â He says turning his head and looking up at you from his hunched position.
âMhmâ you look down at rick and he looks almost confused.
âHow did you meet my daughter again?â He says questioningly.
âShe came in one day because I had contacted her about how her son had been doing better in science, then she decided that we should catch up over coffee and now Iâm hereâ rick sighs knowing what Beth is up to but decides not to tell you.
âHuh guess Morty does learn stuff from our trips.â He looks back down at his gadget and continues to work on it.
âWhat do you mean trips?â You say hoisting yourself up to sit on the bench.
âOh we go on adventures to other galaxies and universes sometimesâ he says Nonchalantly ďżźmaking you turn ur head to face him with a shocked expression.
âExcuse the fucking what now?â You say in an almost impressed tone. Rick chuckled under his breath as he picks up his gadget to examine it.
âMad scientist, thought you could tellâ he says with a cocky grin.
âYeah well I thought youâd be more insane then an actual geniusâ you say annoyed at how it fed his ego.
âIâm an insane genius love, get it rightâ he points the gadget towards the garage opening before shooting a laser at it, it goes straight through and melts the metal.
âI think jackass is the word your looking forâ you give him a cocky smile when his head snaps to look at you. He stares at you for a few moments, god you reminded him of Diane with that attitude.
âYeah whateverâ he says pushing any remote feelings down the the bottom of his stomach. Their was an awkward silence for a few moments before you spoke up.
âWho is Bethâs mum?â You say without hesitation nor thought of if the subject was sensitive. Rick was shocked at your forward question but didnât do anything beside put his gadget down on the bench.
âDiane. She was murdered a long time ago.â He says with no emotion in his tone.
âOh⌠sorry to hear thatâ you say mad at yourself for not thinking before you speak.
âItâs fine I killed the guy who murdered her.â He says nonchalantly before standing up and facing you.
âBadassâ you say not really knowing how to answer.
âIâd do the same if I loved someone and a dickhead decided to murder themďżź.â You say looking up at rick who is know sitting beside you on the bench but not close to you.
ââŚyour different from the ânormalâ people I met. So who hurt you enough to be like this?â Rick says taking a swing from his flask. You sigh, you couldnât be mad that he asked that after all you brang up his dead wife.
âHad a bad home, it changed how I see thingsâ rick passes the flask to you and you take a big swing of it before passing it back. Rick doesnât respond and instead you both just sit there in silence passing the flask back and forth ever couple minutes or so.
âCome over tomorrow.â He says, not asking more telling you too.
âWhy?â You ask confused.
âSo Beth doesnât ask questionsâ rick said, honestly he didnât believe what he said. *Their kinda cute- wait what am I thinking?? Wtf?!* Rick thought to himself completely zoned out.
âRick!!â You almost scream his name making him come back to reality.
âWhat?!â He says in an annoyed tone.
âIâll be here tomorrow jackassâ you say in a more calm voice with a cocky smile.
â⌠ten oâclockâ he says taking a swing of his flask. You hope down from the bench and look at him.
âTen it is thenâ you say before trotting off our the garage. Saying goodbye to Beth then heading home.
