Hello, lovelies. This message is to announce a soft return of our Beth. At this point, I am going to say that all threads have been dropped in favor of trying to wake this girl up. Relationships formed in threads still remain and I am more than happy to start new things along the same storylines. A fresh start just sounds feels like a good idea going forward. So come at us. Beth has missed everyone!

Hiatus notice. Beth will be back. She just isn’t here now. In coming replies will be drafted for later reply. She’ll likely be back in September. I have a read-a-thon next month that will take up the bulk of my free time. Thank you for understanding.

“Sure, honey. Whatever you need to tell yourself.” The young blonde replied when Tara insisted that she was not dramatic. “I know,” She added when told that she'd only been teasing about the oncoming doom. “Tease me all you want, just move your feet or we're not going anywhere.”
The smaller of the two and not overly gifted when it came to upper body strength she would have had issues shouldering the weight of the other under a normal circumstance, but add drunkenness to the mix and Beth wasn't sure how she managed not to do more harm than good in her transport of Tara. She half expected that they'd both end up on their asses before the trip was made. They made it to the house Tara stayed, however, with little more then a bit of stumbling and for that Beth was grateful.
“We're got porch steps and stairs to get through. You're so sure George wouldn't hurt you. You want to try to take them on your own?” Beth asked her tone maybe not at gentle and joking as she had been before. But the walk to the house had made her think of how easily they'd be targets if the walls had failed in those moments and she wasn't feeling so kindly towards the overindulgence of George anymore.
“I am not dramatic.” Tara drawls out. She always did have a slight flair for exaggeration. And unfortunately for Beth, that only heightened when she was drunk. “I know I’m not really going to my doom. I’m only teasing.”
She leaned her weight on Beth as she stumbled through the quiet and deserted neighborhood until they meandered to where she shared a house with a few other residents of Alexandria. “George would never hurt me.”

So much time and Beth had feared that everything would have changed, that the connection they had made would be broken, crumbled up and blown away like so much dust in the wind. But it wasn't. She felt it still. Like an invisible string that tied her to him. Even before this night, alone in an old empty house. At the Kingdom, she could have been surrounded by people and still feel the pull to seek him out above all others, even if it was as simple as her gaze scanning the room to find his.
The bond they'd formed out alone on the road together was still there and it was here, in this dusty old bed, under this thinning blanket, in the hand that reached for him and his turning towards her instead of flinching away, and in the strong arms that encircled her small frame and made her feel safe.
“Better.. much better,” and she didn't just mean the warmth that was spreading through her to chase away the bone-deep chill from her body. No, she meant that everything was so much better now and all of her years alone had been worth it, if it was always meant to lead her here, to Daryl.
Tumblr media
within a matter of minutes the warmth under the blanket begins to spread and the initial cold is gone just as fast as it came. Beth’s body is small compared to his but nonetheless it’s twice as warm with her at his side ; when she reaches for his face and brushes his hair back Daryl immediately turns his head to face her. how can it feel like he never lost her? it’s like she’s been there the entire time, that’s how it should have been.
❝ yeah, feels better now ❞, he agrees with a nod and instinctively leans into her when she curls even closer against his side. now there’s nothing left of the cold, just burning warmth from both inside and outside. the intimacy doesn’t bother him though, it feels rather nice and just like that he wraps one of his arms around Beth’s frame to hold her close. ❝ how ‘bout you? ❞

“Oh I’m sure she would. She’s definitely our daughter, ain’t no question about that. Think she loves the outdoors more than you and me combined,” Daryl laughed. He turned their little girl around in his arms so he could be face to face with her, which instantly brought a smile to her small lips as a giggle spilled out from them. That would never get old - having this small little human who seemed so happy and delighted just to see Daryl’s face would never be something he could tire of. She was perfect, and it meant even more to him knowing that he and Beth had created her out of love. Out of what special thing the two of them shared.
Tumblr media
“Bet should would like a horse. Just like you had growin’ up,” he said, smiling as he thought  back about the stories that Beth had shared about her childhood and adolescence. “Wish I even had an inkling of an idea where the hell we would find one of them. I’d go out there at the drop of a dime tryin’ to find one for her. Wanna spoil her as much as we can with what we got, ya know?”
Beth smiled when Daryl replied that he'd get their daughter a horse if only he knew where to find one. Beth knew that it wasn't likely and even if they found an animal, they wouldn't have the resources to care for it. Still, though, it was a nice thought.
Tumblr media
“Maybe we should work on finding her a dog first,” She suggested. Though Melody was just a baby now, a dog would be a good companion for her. Not only for friendship but also as a protector and she was pretty certain that they could handle the care of a dog.

Even if he knew that Beth wanted to be out here with him, wanted to be ‘roughing’ it along his side rather than back in the safe confounds of Hilltop, he still felt a wave of guilt course through his body once her comment about being fine with a few squirrels for their dinner the following day. It was a positive comment - then again, he would expect nothing less from Beth Greene, of course - but it still made him feel guilty. Back at Hilltop, she would have had a plethora of food options, could have had her pick. Could have helped cook it all, even, or tended to the garden as their supply grew. But here she was, at his side.
Maybe it was selfish of him to feel happy about that, but even that happiness couldn’t shake the guilt. Still, he decided not to bring that up; after all, they had already talked about this. She made the decision herself to come out here with him. She didn’t have to, but she wanted to.
Tumblr media
He looked over at her as she spoke, thankfully changing the subject, and his smile returned to his face once more. The mention of giving up completely scared him in a way, because he thought back to all those years ago at the farm where she had attempted to end her life, when all her hope was lost. Maybe she didn’t mean it in that kind of sense this time, but the idea that maybe she did scared him. “M’so fucking glad you didn’t give up hope,” he said quietly. “I missed you every damn day. I sound dumb, but I mean it. Thought about you all the time. Can’t believe I get to have you back at my side again. Missed this. Missed you.”
“You don't sound stupid,” Beth insisted and reached at to gently place her hand on his arm to get his attention. She pushed back the sleeve of her shirt. Her left wrist bared to show not only the scar left by her attempt to end her pain, so many years ago at the beginning of all of this. But also a simple, self-done tattoo. An arrow placed alongside the scar.
Tumblr media
“I missed you too. But you were with me, every day. To remind me to be strong. To not give up all hope again.”

Beth hurried Briar away from the camp, she didn't want to go so far that Daryl wouldn't hear them should they call but she also didn't want to them to do their business too close to his camp. Even if they were leaving now, that didn't mean that he wouldn't be back after he got them safely to Hilltop.
Yes, she wanted him to stay there with them, wanted to see how things might unfold and maybe most of all she wanted Briar to know her father, her real-life father, not just the one from the stories she so often asked for. Beth she wasn't going to assume or get her hopes up though. He owed them nothing and had a life of his own life, years apart had seen to that.
Beth and Briar returned to camp as quickly as their needs allowed and took up the jacket she'd laid out for their daughter to sleep on. Instead of putting it on herself she put it on, Briar, overtop her own coat. It was too large for her small frame but it was cold and she needed it. The weather turning towards winter and Beth knew that the winds from riding on the bike would a harsh for the child, even if she was sandwiched between her mother and father.
Beth offered Briar a smile, to bolster the child's nerve for the journey ahead. Then spoke to Daryl as she stood straight again, “We're ready when you are.”
Tumblr media
the sooner they leave the earlier they’re going to arrive, wasting time can be really dangerous these days. that’s why Daryl doesn’t protest but gets his bike ready in return ; he never thought the engine was particularly loud but out here in the wilderness everything sounds louder than it usually is. it might attract walkers as well so as soon as Beth and her daughter are done they’ll have to hurry.
he hopes there’s enough space for the dog left with two other people on the bike as well because he certainly isn’t leaving the animal behind. anyhow he climbs on first and waits for Beth to follow, to place their daughter in between them for safety. he’s ready, as soon as she is. ❝ alrite, get back when yer’ done ❞, he tells her shortly before they leave off and Dog trots back to him.

Beth knew how it sounded, or at least how it could sound. She wasn't so naive to think that calling Rick daddy couldn't have a completely different connotation then just the connection to the child she held in her arms. But, she found that was what she wanted. She wanted Jesse to back the fuck away from her family and if putting thoughts in her head was going to do that, then so be it.
It wasn't just that though, maybe on the surface, it was all about Jesse but the young blonde couldn't deny that there was also a part of herself that wanted the claim on Rick to be true. It wasn't that she didn't love Daryl, she did. He meant the whole world to her, he was her soulmate, if such a thing existed, but that didn't change that fact that she looked at Rick and there was a longing there.
Tonight, seeing Jesse look at him like he was the last bar of chocolate in the apocalypse just brought those feelings to ahead and made her inner id scream MINE. Which could lead to a problem, a very big problem. If she didn't get herself under control.
Beth glanced back at Daryl and he seemed no worse for it, in fact, she thought that he actually seemed to be enjoying the whole situation, if his chuckle and continued smirk was any indication. He looked to be having more fun now than at any other point in this whole party and didn't seem the least bit concerned that she'd called, Daddy or that she was deliberately allowing Jesse to be confused about the relationship they all shared. Truthfully, both men seemed more than okay messing with Jesse's confusion and misconception. Which made Beth wonder just how they actually felt about such things.
Rick agreed that they could leave and Beth happily let him usher their little party away from the larger get-together. Once outside Beth breathed in a fresh lungful of night air and felt better, for being away from the people and the noise, and Jesse.
“Yes, thank you,” She echoed Daryl's gratitude. Then smiled when baby Judith seemed to feel settled along with the rest of them. “Let's go home and put this one to bed.” Then maybe they should have a talk. Or something.
@godblessrickgrimes & @damneddixon
godblessrickgrimes‌:
The confusion on Jesse’s face is clear as day. Her eyes jump from Beth to Daryl and linger a little longer on Rick. It’s obvious that she’s trying to work out the dynamic, understand what exactly is going on. It’s a fair response from an outsider. Rick’s child is snug in a pretty girl’s arms and that pretty girl is all but attached to Daryl’s side. In the end, it’s none of her business and Rick doesn’t bother with an explanation.
“Thank you, Jesse.” He says simply, though his gaze hasn’t left the couple in front of him. There’s something… right about what he sees, the image of the three of them in front of him. The feeling is impossible to ignore, the way it tugs on his heart strings and stirs up the longing he does his very best to keep under control.
This feeling intensifies the moment Beth slides closer to him and speaks, causing Rick’s breath to stutter shallowly in his chest. He swallows down the rising emotion as best as he can.
“Yeah.” His eyes flicker up to meet Daryl’s as he nods his head and reaches out to gently stroke his knuckles against Judith’s cheek. He knows he’ll find no resistance from Daryl in the decision to leave but making sure they were all in agreement in any case, “Think it’s time to call it a night. C’mon.”
Rick glances at Jesse again, offering a small smile. His hand brushes over Beth’s shoulder as he takes a small step out of the way and then finds himself gently clutching Daryl’s shoulder to guide him past, as if he were corralling them both towards the exit.
@damneddixon @stillxsings
Daryl didn’t know why exactly, but he was getting a thrill of seeing Jessie’s reaction to all of this, clearly trying to work out what exactly the relationship it was that was shared among them. The confusion on her face, like she was trying to solve some mathematical problem, made Daryl chuckle under his breath as he walked away with the other two - something he was sure the woman overheard.
But really, there was nothing to work out, right? Daryl and Beth were together. Naturally. Anyone could see that given how close they were. Their relationship and bond had just formed so naturally given the time they were out all alone together. It was apparent to both of them, without needing affirmation from the other, how deeply they shared an emotional connection. Things just fell into place before they even placed a proper label on things.
And Rick was their friend. He was just their really close friend, and that was all. Right?
The idea that Jessie could think that Rick was something different to either one of them (or rather, to both of them, collectively) somehow made Daryl feel some odd sense of pride wash over him, while also feeling a bit of confusion stirring in the pit of his stomach. Those thoughts would be reserved for a later time, as he sure that the other two were just going to laugh this off as some large and elaborate joke later on, to which he would easily oblige.
He headed outside of the rather packed home and out to the freedom of the evening air once more, releasing a large sigh of relief once they were away from the noise and the crowd. “Thank you for letting us leave. Finally. If I had to pretend to laugh at one more damn joke I was gonna lose it.”

Hi. I know I have been mia on this account for a while but I’ve been busy with work and Beth has taken a backseat to my Erin account. I will be working on replies today. However, I will be dropping some threads and will not currently be accepting new things that have not been plotted. I need to do this to get things under control and hopefully regain my Beth muse.

Whatever story Daryl’d been expecting, that hadn’t been it.
She’d killed their leader. Beth had killed someone. Shit, that alone… He shook that off, pushing it to the back of his mind to deal with later. His gaze fell to her forehead and it was an effort not to lift his hand and brush a tuft of hair aside, to get a better look at her scar. He had questions –– hell, he had people he wanted to beat the hell out of –– but that could come later too.
‘Cause Beth was asking for help, and that would always come first.
He wet his lips, shaking his head slightly. Where to start?
“Your name’s Beth Greene. Grew up on a farm down in Georgia. Dad was Hershel, mom…” It took a beat to pull the name up. “Annette. Sister’s Maggie.”
He pressed his tongue behind his teeth, trying to decide where to go next.
“We’ve been together a while. Met… maybe two years back. Me ‘n Glenn…” He hesitated. “That’s my friend who was here before. Me ‘n him and our group came through your family’s farm, close to the start of all this. Ended up leavin’ together when it got overrun. We found a safe place. For a while. Then it got hit, and you and me… we got out together. Didn’t know if anyone else made it.” He grimaced and dropped his gaze, the shadow of those first days hanging over him.
Soft, hesitant: “Then I lost you.”
Names were spoken to her. Her own among them. She gripped hold of them all, Beth... Greene. Hershel, her father. Annette, a mother, and Maggie, a sister. She soaked it all in and hoped above all else that she'd remember them, not only the visions of memories from her past but now, in this moment of this day and all the days after. She didn't do well with names, not when there were no faces to tie them to or cause to use them and she fears these names, those of her family would slip away and be lost to her once more.
Hershel, Annette, Maggie, Greene. She repeated the names inside of her head and prayed to whatever listened to those sort of things these days that they would stay with her.
The rest of his story bore a hole in her gut because even if she could not remember, the struggle of it was as real and true as any in this world. She wanted to ask him if they'd made it, not just Glenn but the others. Though she knew that someone had to have given that there was a sick baby and people for Glenn to return to with information on the trade and all. But his last statement paused the question in her throat and replaced it with another.
Beth removed her gloves and tossed them away with the bandages, then covered Peggy's legs with her blanket once more. Before she turned to Daryl and asked a rather difficult question. “Were we... something to each other?” She asked, delicately. “It's just, the way you said that you lost me.” She forged ahead because it was out now and she might as well continue.
She paced a little, a step closer to him and then back again. “... and I don't know you anymore then I know myself but... from the moment you spoke to me in reception. I feel like I'd walk out those front doors with you, straight into hell and never look back. ” That had to mean something.
The fact that she felt like crying just looking at him now and she wanted him to take hold of her and tell her that everything was going to be alright. That too had to mean something. Didn’t it?

“I think that’d be nice. Talkin’ her out on a walk. It ain’t too bad outside, might perk her up a bit. At very least she might have her spirits lifted,” Daryl suggested. Their little girl, even if she was young, still always loved the outdoors. That was one sure way to calm her down if she were ever being fussy; she was definitely her father’s daughter.
Tumblr media
“Would you like that, princess? Goin’ out on a walk?” The baby looked up to him, bright blue eyes that mirrored her mother’s shining up to him. She hadn’t a clue what he was saying, but just the fact that he was engaging her in conversation was enough to bring a smile to her face. “Think she likes that idea.”
The fresh air would be the baby some good, hopefully. If anything just the act of walking itself would be a nice distraction for her. A bit of excitement to see something outside of the boring gray walls that surrounded them all day. It would lift her spirits and Beth's as well.
“I'm sure she does. She'd happily be outside with you all day if it was safe.” She wasn't so different from Beth as a child. She'd run around outside all day until her fair skin burned bright pink with the sun and her mother fussed over the damage and smeared her with aloe and cream, only to have her out the next day doing it all over again.
Tumblr media
“Too bad we can't find her a horse. I'm sure she'd love it. I did.”

“Don’t think squirrels have enough sense in ‘em to realize that. Their brain’s can’t be no bigger than a walnut. But hey, I ain’t complaining. More food for us at least,” Daryl laughed. He had almost forgotten what it was like to laugh. He felt as though he hadn’t done that anymore, not in so long, not without Beth at his side. But here he was, and he could already swear he had smiled, laughed, and been in a better mood now more than he had been in ages. And it was all her doing.
“It’s settled then. You and me will go out huntin’ tomorrow. Who knows, maybe we’ll even find ourselves a rabbit and really have a feast.” While his tone about that was light and playful still, honestly having a piece of meat larger than the small pickings of a squirrel sounded like heaven right then.
Tumblr media
“Know I already said this, but I’m glad you’re here with me, Beth.”
Beth chuckled slightly when he spoke of the common sense of squirrels. She supposed that he had a point but she'd heard of animals becoming smarter when it came to recognizing hunting patterns. Come to think of it she was pretty sure it was pack animals that had developed the sense, so maybe that was a bit much to expect from a squirrel, or even the rabbit he spoke of.
The larger animal would be nice though, roast it up over a fire. She could feel her stomach wanting to start growling just thinking about it. She hoped that they'd have a good hunt tomorrow so that they would have a nice dinner.
“A rabbit would be great but I'll be happy with even just some squirrels.” She was sure that if she'd stayed at Hilltop, dinner wouldn't be in question but she this was what she'd signed up for. Real life out in the wild with Daryl. It was what she wanted.
Tumblr media
“I'm glad I'm here with you too,” Beth replied, even though he was right and they'd said it before, it was never wrong to tell the person you cared about just how much they meant to you. “I searched for everyone for so long, it would have been easy to lose hope but I didn't... at least never completely. I knew I'd find my way back to my family. I just had to keep moving forward. Just like you all did.”

“I hope you're right,” Beth replied and not for the first time she felt like a failure as a mother. She'd raised Briar to keep herself away from people. It had been a necessary evil to nurture her fears, in order to keep her safe and alive. She feared now though, that it would hinder the child's ability to make friends, once they were in a safe place.
When offered breakfast the blonde shook her head. “I'd rather just hit the road,” She answered, not just because they were headed to a community but also because she was started to feel a bit on edge, having been in one place for so long. Out in the wild, it was always better to be a moving target.
They could eat later, if Hilltop was everything Daryl made it out to be then she was sure they'd have dinner again that night and that would be plenty, they had survived on less for a lot longer.
“Briar, come on. Time to go, before we head out.” She held her hand out for her daughter. Much like her own mother had once done before a family car trip, she wanted to make sure they wouldn't have to stop five minutes in, just to go to the bathroom.
“We'll be right back.”
Tumblr media
all of the things Daryl needs fit into a backpack he can strap to the side of his motorcycle. living out here means living without property but that’s what he has always been used to ; it feels more natural than living in a house, sleeping in a normal bed. he never thought he was going to go back on his own terms but then Beth appeared : there’s NOTHING he wouldn’t do for her.
the realization that Briar hasn’t met any other children until now makes his heart ache. even he had friends and his brother when he was a kid. if it weren’t for the communities this world is a HORRIBLE place to grow up in. ❝ they gonna love her, ‘n she’s gonna love 'em. ❞ for a brief second he turns his head to look at the blonde little girl who’s still playing with his dog — it makes him HAPPIER than he thought it could.
❝ you wanna have some breakfast b'fore we leave? anythin’ else you need to do? ’s gonna take us a coupl'a hours. ❞ the Hilltop isn’t that far away, it’s the closest community to his camp. maybe one day he’s going to take her to Alexandria, but for now Hilltop is a BETTER choice.

If Daryl wanted her to stay at Hilltop then Beth would stay. She didn't say it aloud but she didn't think she necessarily needed to but she knew that she didn't plan on being too far away from him now that she'd found him again. She didn't want to be away from any of her remaining family, Daryl most of all.
When he shifted closer and agreed that things weren’t so bad, Beth smiled she reached out to gently brush his hair back from his face and out of his eyes. “You warming up?” She asked as she curled up closer. The chill felt like it was finally subsiding thanks to the shared body heat under the blanket.
Tumblr media
even though it still feels the same, after all these years Daryl can’t deny he’s changed a lot. the feelings remain but he has grown so much, in the way he’s acting and feeling — a positive change as far as he can tell. of course she recognizes him just like he recognizes her but the both of them AREN’T who they used to be anymore. the thought is ridiculous, a world like this changing them for the better. yet here he is, sharing a bed with a woman without feeling stressed out or anxious ; being able to look her in the eyes while he’s speaking WITHOUT yelling at her. he definitely isn’t who he used to be anymore.
❝ I’d like if ya’ stayed there, for a while ❞, Daryl admits quietly and lets out a quiet sigh afterwards. Hilltop has a charm of its own. something about it always made him feel comfortable, almost like home. with Beth there he can’t imagine EVER wanting to leave ; it doesn’t matter where they go, he’s always want to stay by her side. of course he DOESN’T say that out loud, but deep inside himself he knows it’s true. it doesn’t feel so awkward anymore as he shuffles a little closer to her, absorbing the warmth that radiates off her body. ❝ nah, this definitely ain’t so bad. ❞
