The Sunrise Kingdom art event created by The Experience Magazine, showcased black and Latino visual artists and independent vendors. Their mission is to celebrate and offer the opportunity to local artists to exhibit their work and network. The talented contemporary artist, Steven Gutierrez, featured at the Queens Museum for The Sunrise Kingdom event. Steven’s artwork consists of acrylic paint and markers to express, heal and creatively display current events. The portraits capture the real individual. Thus, creating a vivid sense of the person’s life. Gutierrez believes in applying maximum effort into his creations. The importance of creating art as an outlet of expression and healing against the daily internal battles people often face. His proudest piece featured at the event, “No Justice, No Peace.” The painting formulated all the victims who died in police custody. His pieces dazzle realism to create the documentation of everyday realities.
