Steter Mini Bang Interest Check
The Steter Bang of 2021 led to some amazing works for the Steter fandom. The mods who ran the event last year have decided to move on and have been kind enough to let me take over (big thanks to @steter-bang-2021)!
You may know me as @teenwerewoofs here on tumblr or as bri on AO3. A Steter fandom event last year got me involved in fandom more than I had ever been before and I’ve had so much fun creating podfic ever since and getting to interact with all the amazing people in this fandom (huge out shout to @stetersecretsanta2021!). 😍
I LOVE Steter (and I love the people that also love Steter!) so I’m reaching out to see if anyone would be interested in a Mini Bang this summer. Hopefully, people are excited and, hopefully, it would lead to a Big Bang next year in 2023! ☺️

We know the initial plan was to run the event again in 2023, but declining interest amongst the mod team have led us to announcing now that we currently have no intention to do so. We’ve appended “2021” to the tumblr blog name to free up the steter-bang url in case someone else would like to run a steter bang event.

We understand there has been some discussion around a bang participant who was unhappy with their experience. Bangs are a collaborative project which require clear, continuous, and productive communication between writer and artist. Failing that, it is the responsibility of the participant to contact moderators to ask for assistance. Moderators can't remedy a situation if they haven't been adequately communicated with.
There are many ways to participate in fandom as a creator. Some people thrive in collaborative efforts, but others may find that it's not their strength. That can be disappointing for everyone involved. Future Steter bangs will be sure to more strongly emphasize the importance of clear communication and a collaborative mindset.

Stiles is just trying to handle his life after being kidnapped and tortured by people who wanted to teach his Dad a lesson. He struggles a lot due to PTSD, but he is trying to do his best to get out of bed in the morning. One night, Stiles goes up to the rooftop of his apartment building, to see the stars. Instead, he sees a man standing dangerously close to the edge, looking down. This is how Stiles meets Peter Hale, a scarred man who lost his whole family in a fire and now deals with depression as well as hallucinations. They meet by chance and soon find out, that they have a lot in common - like the overwhelming need to bring their tormenters to justice, no matter what it's going to take.

He is different, kind of like how he was after the nogitsune, but worse, more. It was like they didn’t know him at all.
And he had a child.
“Let’s not talk about that haunted look you have in your eyes. I’ve seen it before.” Peter stood up properly and walked towards where Stiles was sitting.
“When you look in the mirror?” Stiles snarked.
“Nobody walks out of hell without scars, Stiles.” Peter glared.
“No, because we crawl our way out.”

When Stiles Argent was caught by the left hand of the Hale pack while spying on a werewolf summit, he got an idea. A dangerous, asinine idea that he knew would put him on a treacherous path he had no right to go down - but curiosity tended to hold more power over his decisions than it really should have. He wanted to learn more about werewolf culture without the biased lens of his hunter training, and Peter Hale happened to be willing to teach him. He just had to bend a few truths to get that trust, which was a small price to pay - right?
[or: Stiles and Peter work their way into each other’s hearts and the hunter finds himself in a lie he wishes he never crafted… and it may cost him everything.]

“Last chance to run out of the woods now,” Peter says. Stiles’ eyes do the running. They flash to the outskirts of the small clearing, sweep in a rough half circle of the thick wall of dark trees surrounding them. Then they’re swimming back to lock onto the shape of Peter. Stiles takes in the sight - the curve of his shoulders, the spreading circle of black pupil in the low light. The shadows the moonlight is casting down on the angles of his face.
“I can’t outrun you, you know that right?” Stiles says. It’s an echoed version of Peter’s own words but this time it sounds almost hollow in the night, daunted but dipped with a curious revere.

Peter Hale knows what it’s like to wear a mask all of the time. Even before the fire, he had to be charming and quick on his feet and refuse to let anyone close. It didn’t mean that he didn’t feel, and that he doesn’t feel now, contrary to popular belief. What it does mean is that he sees it in Stiles Stilinski - he sees how the young man uses his voice and his energy as a mask for what lies below, and what he sees there unsettles him in a way that feels startlingly like empathy.
Stiles Stilinski feels like he’s drowning in deep waters, or perhaps burning up from the inside out, or starving to death in a dark, lonely forest. All he knows is that it feels like dying, but he’s so sure that if he just keeps trying it’ll be okay. If he just keeps giving as much of himself away as he possibly can and then some, someone will reciprocate, and provide him the stability he craves so badly. The last person he expects that to be is Peter Hale.

Let’s just hope all goes according to plan and no matter what, Stiles is a Spark.
