Na’ilah took a breath as the amber smoke faded away, looking from the paved road to the powerlines, the cars and the brick and wood buildings. This was Storybrooke. She’d never been, but she recognized it from the stories she had heard. Nai tilted her head, her interested piqued enough to explore the place. She knew the cloud that had brought her here likely meant trouble, but as far as she could tell there was no immediate threat.
She stepped towards Hope, a girl who appeared to be in a state of mild panic. “What’s bad?” she questioned.

“oh no, oh no, OH JEEZ.” the brunette had muttered as soon as the fog had cleared around her, frantic eyes were searching around trying to pinpoint exactly what had happened, but all she could think was how much her mom was going to LECTURE HER. maybe she could find her dad first, try and get him to lessen how terrible this might’ve been.
only then noticing that Gideon was no longer beside her, her eyes indeed, nervously her hands came to tuck her hair behind her ear, finally taking the chance to look around her and THIS WAS NOT THE STORYBROOKE SHE GREW UP IN. “well, shit. this is bad, oh so bad.”

originally from AGRABAH, NA’ILAH has just awoken in storybrooke, probably very confused on what’s going on, and most likely wanting to search for her parent JAFAR. before the spell hit she had always been known for her +AGREEABLE yet -DECEPTIVE ways; and could easily be spotted by COLD RAIN ON BARE SHOULDERS, A HAND-CARVED GARNET RING, TELLING STORIES IN THE DARK; however there’s no telling now, how storybrooke could change her.

ABOUT NA’ILAH BEFORE THE CURSE; The general idea of her childhood ( I took some liberties here and I’m totally open to plotting something different with Jafar’s mun if we end up getting a Jafar ) is that she was raised primarily by Jafar who, while not the best dad on account of his general personality, was also not the worst dad on account of his determination to not repeat the mistakes his own father made.
Side note, I’m just kind of assuming that after the events of season 6, Jafar eventually found a way out of the staff Jasmine trapped him in, and was thus able to raise Nai. I’m also assuming that despite Jafar never traveling to Wonderland in this RPG, his overall plot points from OUATIW remained the same or similar       ( like, he captured Cyrus, briefly changed the laws of magic and then became a genie for a while. It just happened in Agrabah instead of Wonderland ). But lmk if either of those assumptions doesn’t work for the group and I can rework her backstory.
Her mother was Amara, who was pregnant at the time she was cursed into the serpent staff, gave birth some time after she freed herself and was eventually murdered by Jafar.
After Jafar became a genie, she was taken in by a foster mother who took care of her for her first 5-7 years before Jafar was freed first from the bottle and then from the staff, and took her back.
Growing up, Nai didn’t know who her mother was and Jafar never told her. Once she was skilled enough to cast spells and brew potions on her own, she was able to determine for herself that her mother was dead, but that was all she learned of her identity.
As mentioned, she did learn spells and potions both from her father and on her own using spellbooks. She’s been practicing magic for over 20 years and she’s very good at it.
Nai has her father’s passion and determination, but she currently lacks a project or goal to channel those attributes towards. She is, however, intensely romantic; when somebody catches her attention she becomes heavily invested in them and it's like their dreams become her dreams. This can sometimes be a good thing but it also means that she can sometimes come off as clingy or even obsessive. She’s bisexual with a preference for women.
She loves verbal storytelling -- she’s memorized countless myths, legends and fables and she’s come up with a few of her own as well. She enjoys few things in life as much as she enjoys sitting around a fire at night and sharing a story with a small group of people.
Nai is someone who’s built a small circle of close, trusted friends, as well as a larger network of more distant friends and acquaintances. She typically exhibits a calm, charming demeanor that makes it easy for her to connect with other people. However, since her arrival in Storybrooke, she has been displaced from her usual crowd and she doesn’t know many people.
HOW SHE FELT ABOUT THE CURSE; Although she had no idea that this curse in particular was coming, she wasn’t surprised that something had come along to disrupt the peace. The United Realms had been too quiet and content for too long; a disturbance was long overdue.
As long as nothing conflicts with her overall ambitions, Na’ilah has a pretty relaxed and receptive attitude towards change. She is strangely okay with this curse.
BUT it does annoy her a bit that she can’t really use magic anymore
HOW SHE WOULD REACT TO SEEING HER FATHER IN THIS CURSE; At 31 years old, she isn’t very close with her father anymore ( if she could ever call them close in the first place ), so it wouldn’t faze her too much to see him without memories of her. She would probably make an attempt to jog his memory, but she wouldn’t be devastated if it didn’t work.
FEELINGS ON BEING IN STORYBROOKE; She prefers Agrabah. To her, this curse is an inconvenience, however she doesn’t entirely mind the new challenge.
WHO WOULD SHE BLAME IT ON; Nai doesn’t know many people that she would suspect of a curse like that, nor is she curious enough to try and uncover the truth. But if she really had to guess, she thinks it’s someone who is resentful of the United Realms and/or Regina’s reign over everything.
