— f1 boys: the ones you catch staring at you and the ones that catch you staring at them.
THE ONES YOU CATCH STARING AT YOU. . .
LANDO NORRIS can’t stop looking at you. everyone can see how in love and enchanted by you he is just by the way he looks at you with so much love, affection and a beautiful glow of admiration in his eyes. and honestly he doesn’t care if you caught him staring at you or if someone make fun of him for it, he’ll simply keep looking at you the same way but this time with a lazy smile on his face. you try to maintain eye contact for a while, but his gaze is so deep (and in love) it makes you feel shy and fuzzy inside, and when you look away first, he laughs softly and walks over to you, kissing your forehead and calling you beautiful.
DANIEL RICCIARDO sometimes can’t help it, he’s so mesmerized and intrigued by every little detail of yours that he gets lost in that moment. his bright eyes follow your every move as he makes a mental note of all your mannerisms and quirks and how beautiful you are. and he just realizes he’s staring too hard when you points it out; he somehow looks more delighted at being caught than embarrassed. his eyes have nothing but warmth and love as you look at him across the table, and he instantly leans forward, his chin resting on his palm, letting out a dreamy sigh along with a simple smile, totally undramatic, ‘i think you’re the most beautiful person in the world’ and you might think he’s joking, but he really says it with his heart.
MAX VERSTAPPEN doesn’t understand why, but everything you do is charming to him. even the simplest and most mundane things became more beautiful and light to him after he saw you do them; it’s as if you’ve given a new meaning to his life. and when you turn to look at him after feeling the weight of his gaze on you, all you can do is smile; the way he looks at you with all the attention in the world, his eyes shining with love and compassion but also curiosity makes your heart flutter in your chest. he just pretends he hasn’t been caught looking at you like you hang the stars and moon in his sky. but if you look very closely, you will notice a slight flush in his cheeks; you tease him about it and he seriously denies it, avoiding eye contact, but one accidental look at you amidst the bickering, he’s a goner of course, with a fond little smile already tugging on his lips.
OSCAR PIASTRI has his heart racing and red cheeks as he quickly looks away when he realizes he’s been caught staring at you for too long, and for a while, he looks anywhere in the room even when you try to get his attention playfully, but unfortunately, the lovestruck boy can’t help but steal a few too many glances in your direction when he thinks you’ve looked away only to get caught again.
THE ONES THAT CATCH YOU STARING AT THEM. . .
CARLOS SAINZ blatantly looks back at you, his gaze on your face light and unwavering; so full of adoration and love it sends a shiver down your spine. and when he knowingly asks why you are looking at him, you tell him that you enjoy doing it because he’s so beautiful, to which he can only smile sweetly and say, taking your hand in his, “i like looking at you too... you’re too pretty to be real”
CHARLES LECLERC is one of those who keep throwing glances in your direction, a hint of a smirk tugging on his lips, and when you’re seemingly unfazed, he takes that as a challenge, looking right at you and holding eye contact until you’re the one who eventually looks away; only then, he cracks a gleeful grin, playfully poking your cheek while coolly yet fondly saying ‘cute.’
LEWIS HAMILTON is one of those who notices you staring for a while now but acts otherwise only to suddenly whip around and face you with the goofiest grin. having caught off-guard, you turn away, flustered, and he coos lightly ‘aw come on don’t get all shy on me now’ and cups your face gently to make you look at him so now you’re two smitten idiots, smiling at each other, utterly and hopelessly in love.

I honestly think the problem with the Max/RB dominance is not just the total lack of competition, or the fact that his team have blatantly cheated (although both of these are huge issues), but the fact that Max doesn't even seem to enjoy winning or dominating. He rarely thanks the team and seems ungrateful and rude to them at times when things aren't going perfectly for him, he doesn't really seem happy to win and it just makes F1 feel empty and soulless. I miss the days when drivers would do little celebrations on the podium or in parc ferme, thank their team when they win races and championships, and be happy that they've won. I miss that passion and energy. That's why I struggle to watch the races nowadays whereas I didn't even an issue with it back in 2013 when Seb was dominating almost as much as Max is now.
What's worse is that usually there are occasional winners from other teams even during very dominant periods in f1 yet it looks like Red Bull will win everything this season. There is absolutely zero chance that anyone else wins except from Max and Checo.
"Other periods of domination were just as bad tho!!1!!", you may argue. And I cannot disagree with that- but Michael Schumacher had passion, loved winning and took years to help Ferrari become a dominant force, Vettel also had passion and fought for his titles with Alonso and Webber so there was some good competition there and Lewis is undoubtedly the best driver I have ever seen on a race track and he had to really fight for a good few of his championships.
Every other period of domination has had some redeeming stuff, whether that's occasional competition, the fact that the actual greatest of all time is driving the car and we get to see them be amazing or there is that passion and love of winning. I honestly don't think there's any of this in the 'Max era'. It seems to me that he simply got lucky to be in the right team and stay there long enough to dominate, rather than have to build a team up or move teams to win. He is rude to his engineers over slight issues, has no decorum and watching him race is dull and boring. F1 is going to lose a lot of viewers if nothing changes.

Genuinely curious what logic people have to claim that what mclaren did to Daniel is worse than what has just happened to nyck. Let me lay these events out for you.
Daniel got a contract buyout, that couldn’t have happened unless he agreed to it. He got a say in his departure and a rumoured 18 million. He’d done two years in that car and all but one race was shockingly mediocre for a driver of his experience level. They signed oscar before the summer break, they could’ve replaced him mid season. They didn’t. Daniel got to announce his own departure, f1 made posts about it, people were sad and outraged to see him go. Mclaren waited weeks to announce Oscar as his replacement despite already signing him. Daniel got his time before he was replaced by a younger, more exciting talent who would cost far less and get potentially better results.
Let’s look at Nyck. He’s done a grand total of 11 races, 10 in the alphatauri that his teammate has only hauled into the points twice. We get no actual announcement that he is leaving, only one that he is replaced by a much older driver before even the summer break. No one acknowledges his departure, they’re too excited for daniel to come in. Reports say neither Nyck or his family knew of the announcement, he was totally blindsided. And I’m sorry to say this, but if Daniel was any other driver with his results from the past two years no team would take a second look at him.
I’m not here to tell you all to forget about daniel and mclaren and that it was all fine, it was handled poorly and they should have put an exit clause in the contract for that exact scenario. However, don’t claim red bull have treated nyck better. Red bull demoted drivers from the top team yes, they don’t usually drop alpha drivers mid season. They’ve screwed nyck over and no one will even give him the basic respect of a ‘nyck de vries to leave alpha tauri’ post.

He won F2 and didn’t get a seat. He won FE. He had to wait so much longer than everyone else around him. He finally! was offered a seat, and of course he is going to choose the team that (at the time) is higher in the standings. He’s dealt with rumors of being dropped since literally the second race of the season. He didn’t even get half of a season in the car. He won’t get to drive in his home race. His own team has been shit-talking him in the media since race 4 or 5. He didn’t even get till the summer break. The decision was probably made at least a week or two ago. He was NEVER given a fair chance.
Regardless of the other effects of this decision, this is a very dark day for the sport.

this is a photo of pierre during media day at spa 2019. he’d officially been demoted to toro rosso while albon got promoted. red bull/toro rosso had no qualms with allowing media to surround him like this by himself without a single press person beside him, but in the meanwhile, they protected albon from questions about his mother.
this is a photo from the monza 2019 press conference. it had been a week after anthoine had sadly passed in spa, and during this press conference (here’s a link because, quelle surprise, f1 cut the version on YouTube down), you can visibly watch as pierre gets closer and closer to a panic attack while the press apparently oblivious to the effect they’re having asks drivers questions about anthoine as well as asking pierre questions about being demoted and what have you. in the meanwhile, charles inches closer and closer to protect him, which is why there’s such a gap between charles and sebastian.
in the meanwhile, pierre’s bosses are telling the media he got demoted because he has “psychological problems”
so I’ve gotta ask these red bull fans that think nyck’s team is in the wrong for leaking the news before red bull’s pr team could cook up a way to spin this into positive pr for them: where the hell was that generosity to any one of the drivers red bull fucked over the years?
where was that generosity for pierre’s mental health when he was surrounded by press like vultures circling their prey?
where was that generosity from liberty media when they made pierre sit through a press conference close to a full-blown panic attack while hearing media ask questions about his friend he just watched die the weekend before?
where was this generosity when pierre’s bosses were making fun of him and saying he “has psychological issues” or comparing their dead dog to pierre?
if nyck’s management leaking that news makes red bull “look like the bad guys,” maybe take a second and consider what red bull did to get that fucking moniker because sweetie, they’ve been wearing that badge for fucking years.
