#woman of straw#it was an interesting watch it was very 60s though#but I miss movies like that i feel like modern films lack that kind of tension#too much sanitised corporate will to market to a borad audience#not that that wasn't there back in the 60s too I know what they did to poor elvis and it wasn't pretty#i was a little disappointed by the ending though I like that justice prevailed and all that but I would've really liked it if the nephew got#away with it#because then the thriller aspect of the crime/thriller bit would've been more there#but I don't seriously mind it that much it was still a very interesting watch#i mean to be fair i haven't watched a lot of newer films but i have the feeling nowadays you wouldn't have two character that met two mi#minutes ago immediate start to make out and plot a murder#and not as much overt racism#the film wasn't racist but one of the characters was and nobody liked it#so I can respect the authors for going in that direction and not. you know. embrace it or whatever#the racist uncle did get his comeuppance it was repeatedly a reason for the woman to leave#i was a little surprised she then actually grew to like him though because. of all that but alas what works for the plot and all that#sean connery is a great actor he really is his character here was SUCH an asshole but he was my favourite because that man brought so much#charisma to the table#and to get back to the racism I thought it was very funny that it was a uhm. flip? on the 'tge butler did it' trope#well they weren't butlers but the servants the servants were actually the ones to delivered the final clue#it was interesting it really was interesting#i sound likw one of those “golly gee films these days are so woke'' people but i don't mind stuff like that#couldn't care less#I just like it when a medium doesn't feel scared of itself#how did I get here this was supposed to be short
