Persephone clucked and pecked at the feed. “Careful, she’s a bit greedy,” Phil warned.
Persephone stared back up at Lucifer, as if waiting for him to do something, before strutting her way around him in a circle.

Phil nodded. “Her name’s Persephone,” he explained, gently handing the bird over. “You behave, girl.”
Persephone put a wing to her chest, as if taken aback by the accusation.

“Lemme show ya.” Phil stepped inside the coop for a moment, where a steady clucking of poultry could be heard, alongside the faint sound of a mallard’s quacking. When the farmer returned, he held in his arms a chicken with feathers black as midnight and bloodred eyes. It stared at Lucifer as if judging him silently. “And uh… sorry for your loss.” Phil paused a moment. “Would it be wrong to hope that he’s in a better place now?”

“I do have some ducks and Void Chickens that could use a good home,” Phil remarked as he led the way towards the barn and coop. “As for Hell, well I never saw the point of eternal torment. Way I see it, Hell should be more like a crucible, burning away the dirt and grime a soul has acquired in order to cleanse it and let it ascend.”

“Size of my head at the smallest,” Phil answered. “As for that, mostly just eat the seeds one by one. Pomegranates are some of the most nitpicky of fruits to eat…” he added. “And that’s very sweet! Never liked the idea of Hell being a place of permanent punishment.”

Phil paused, processing that first sentence. “Well. The King of Hell certainly tops the “strange things in Pelican Town” list,” he admitted. “Which in includes flying snakes, various undead, slime critters, and several bugs that seemed to have escaped the Age of Giant Insects.”
Cutting open the pomegranate with a dagger, Phil offered part of it to Lucifer. “I can imagine that Hell’s not the most pleasant place… sadly my own experience with it starts and stops at Dante.”

Phil blinked. “Hell, huh? Not the weirdest thing I’ve seen or heard around these parts,” he remarked. “As for the tour, certainly!” The farmer turned from the house and led the way towards an expansive orchard, various fruit trees planted in neat rows.
Phil raised his hand-glowing with a faint violet light-and one tree bent a branch down slightly to deposit a ripe pomegranate into the farmer’s waiting palm. “May I ask what brings a resident of the infernal plane here to Pelican Town?” he asked.

PROMPTS FOR CARRYING/BEING CARRIED *  assorted dialogue, adjust as necessary
all right! up you get!
i'm going to carry you, of course.
stop squirming! i'm losing my grip on you!
you're safe in my arms.
can you walk on it?
maybe i need to carry you there.
i don't want to be carried.
no! i can walk just fine by myself!
you're a lot lighter than i expected.
falling asleep in my arms, are we?
how long was i out?
have you been carrying me this whole time?
i don't remember being picked up.
this was your master plan all along, wasn't it.
have i been sleeping this whole time?
no! put me down!
can you at least be a bit more gentle when you lift me?
i could get used to this.
if you need a break, you can set me down.
you pretended to twist your ankle just so i would carry you.
i didn't ask you to carry me.
you're quite handsome at this angle.
if i'm not careful, you'll ask to be carried everywhere.
are you comfortable like this? i can switch arms.
could you put me down?
ow! that hurts when you move like that!
you can put me down right here.
just lay me down over there.
please don't tell anybody you did this.
if they find out i let someone carry me, i'm dead.
well, this is a bit awkward.
you're very warm, you know.
you smell nice.
you can go to sleep if you'd like. it's okay.
let me get you somewhere safe.
oh no. i'm not climbing on your back.
just stay quiet. i've got you.
you look rather beautiful all curled up in my arms.
i don't think i can walk that far.
we will never speak of this arrangement again.
just tell them i hurt my leg.
stop smiling down at me!
apparently my shoulder makes for a good pillow.
would you do me a favor and pick me up?
i'm not sure i can walk all the way.
i appreciate you helping me out in this way.
stop smirking at me. i see you.
no, i don't like this! i'm humiliated!
i won't let anything happen to you here.
do you do this often? twist your ankle just to make someone else carry you?
how about a piggyback ride?

To be clear, unless staff trips over the trail of extension cords keeping the servers running, Tumblr likely isn't going anywhere any time soon.
What the info we've seen suggests is that updates are going to slow down, maintenance is maybe going to get a little shaky, and we're going to see more glitches as time goes on and the remaining staff gets further behind their workload.
Is this a good thing? No, absolutely not.
Should you be panicking, jumping overboard, running for the hills, etc? Also no.
So what does it mean?
Well, for myself and several other creatives you all saw tagged in that post, it means we're looking around trying to figure out what to do in the long run. We're not running for the lifeboats. We're just eyeing the iceberg in the distance and getting our shit together in the event that the worst comes to pass.
Speaking for myself, I intend to crawl through the walls of Tumblr until they pry me out of the air vents armed with a broom and oven mitts. I'm not going anywhere until the lights go out, and even then, I'll be chewing on the wires.
But that doesn't mean I'm not looking around for somewhere to land when the time comes.
Myself and several others are not panicking about this, but we are trying to be organized about it.
I'm just old enough to remember when fandom websites being nuked overnight was a very real thing. You'd go to bed one night and wake up the next day to find friends you'd known for years were just gone with no means of contacting them because the site you'd been using got wiped. Entire collections of fandom history were just destroyed in the blink of an eye.
We don't want that again. And the good news is, we have time. We have time to back up our shit, time to swap contact info with our friends, and time to find a new place to exist within our communities while also staying here because Tumblr ain't dead yet.
She's just slowly going to wind down over time.
Unless, of course, they trip over the cables. Then we're fucked.

I think my favourite headcanon for Stardew Valley is the way I think they would react to the farmer.
Like, they would see this gremlin sprinting through the town as if the ghosts of his sins were straddling his shoulders, and they would just be like "oh hey, it's the farmer, going to do farming stuff" even though they can all see the glowing sword around their waist.
Why are they carrying a sword? Have they ever walked? Ever? What do they do all day?
No one knows, but they all smile politely and wave when the farmer races by, because who's going to argue with the person who singlehandedly saved their economy, saved their community center, kicked out knockoff Walmart and brings gifts for everyone, all the time. Lewis will see them looting through the trash, even though they know full well that the farmer makes millions, and just force himself to think "good on him, trying new things, not letting anything go to waste."
Clint chooses not to question where the ore comes from, or why the farmer is covered head to toe in green slime and blood, even though they don't seem to have a single scratch on them. Why question where it's coming from, they're his only customer and the only reason he hasn't quit the family business.
Every time Robin enters the saloon, she's bombarded with questions about what she builds on the farm, and what other crazy things does the farmer have going on, but she just smiles and refuses to talk about (she and the farmer are colluding to make it seem more mysterious).
Linus seems to be the only one unfazed by the farmer. He was asked at the Luau once what he thought of the farmer, and the only he said on the matter was "I can't tell you much about them, but there are some who can. If you can find the spirits of the forest, and listen to their whispers, you may just hear them talk of the farmer, for even the spirits pay attention when they pass." No one took it seriously, until Leah caught the farmer talking with a small creature in the recently renovated community center. Upon noticing Leah, it disappeared, and the farmer denied it's existence.
Also, Joja put out a hit on them.

What Each Townie Adds to the Community Center After Complete, Pt. 1
Farmer - a farm-to-table dinner once a month and everyone brings a side dish to share
Caroline - expands her fitness class and moves it to the Center (offers 3-4x's a week)
Evelyn - a baking class once a month (mostly cookies, some cakes too. Haley sometimes helps).
Gus - cooking class once a week (and he would be such a good teacher with a gentle, encouraging voice) AND a near daily breakfast for seniors and vets (because he's that kind of guy)
Sebastian - basic computer classes because these townsfolk need to get outta the dark ages. Jk... but seriously, he would open a computer lab. People could come work on resumes, kids could play games after school and on weekends (Sam included), and folks could pay bills online.
Penny would create a kids club for after school on Wednesdays. Vincent, Jas, and Leo all come for storytime, homework help, snacks, and playtime. Jas would donate some of her old dolls and toys. Vincent would create a bug display. Leo would fix up a treehouse out front with help from Robin.
Robin would offer woodworking classes, and she would co-lead an environmental science club with Demetrius (for the social and moral support).
Willy and Elliott would arrange beach clean-up days, and use the Center to create a place for recycling gathering. (And compost - Leah and the Farmer would add).
Gunther would partner with the Adventurer's Guild to host a series of guest lectures on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Archeologists, botanists, monster hunters, travelers, other experts.
Shane would open an AA chapter and suicide prevention support group (with some encouragement from Harvey). Bad coffee. Stale donuts. Everyone feels welcome though.
Band practice would move out of Sam's bedroom and into the Center. He would also organize an open mic night (Abigail would do most of the work, but his enthusiasm counts). He would support and cheer for everyone equally (no matter how off-key).
Elliott would do poetry readings. Once he was published, he would host his book reveal party at the Center. Over wine for the 21+.
Leah would host art classes - sculpting, painting, etc. She would also organize a tri-athlon with Alex.
Alex would fix up the backyard for a kids gridball team. He would have a sports mentorship program (and kids from surrounding towns would attend). Work hard. Play hard. And learn life skills. With a lot of help from other townies.
Haley would create a dark room for anyone wanting to develop their own photos. And she would gladly have many of her own photos on display.
I feel like George would host movie nights with help from Alex, Sebastian and Maru. Alex would hang the projector, Seb would set up the equipment, and Maru would decorate with lights in the yard for movies under the stars in summertime. And bring strawberries to share, of course. Old timey movies. Black and whites.
Harvey (and Maru) would host health clinics, offering free wellness checkups. Gus would provide healthy lunches. They would team up with Caroline for a fitness class. Emily would call her Swami friend for a yoga and meditation demonstration.
Emily would definitely start a sewing circle. Jodi would join. Maybe Marnie. And Caroline would enjoy cross-stitch.
Em would also do additional projects. The younger ladies like Abigail, Sophia, and Scarlett would definitely be into cosplay and costuming together. Abs would drag Sebastian in every once in awhile and Sam would tag along, just cuz. Seb would rock Puck from A Midsummer's Night Dream. And Elliott would make a fantastic Romeo. Haley would definitely be Juliet.
