If you can understand the problems with the once-common New Atheism argument that because there are misogynistic/homophobic/violent/otherwise terrible verses in the Bible, all Christians/Jews/etc. are inherently [whatever bad thing] and need to be treated that way.... if you can get why that's a shitty and bigoted argument... you need to recognize that it's the same fucking thing and just as flimsy and hateful when someone uses a random surah from the Qur'an to argue that all of the world's nearly 2 billion Muslims are This or That, and therefore why just having to be reminded that Muslims exist is an Attack on Women (or whatever).

It's just wild to me how many people who are generally good at recognizing bigoted tropes, imagining people complexly, etc. have this weird blind spot when it comes to Muslims. You've got to get better at identifying sneaky Islamophobia, especially if you're (as is the case with some of my followers I've seen circulating this kind of stuff) spending a lot of time educating people about antisemitism. Because both have been on the rise in the past seven months and, most importantly, both are bad!

Abdullah is a graphic design artist, technician, and trainer. He had a very successful career in graphic design and shared a beautiful home with his family. This all changed in October 2023, when the occupation destroyed his him home. His work was mostly remote, meaning that when his equipment was destroyed and Gaza’s internet access was crippled, he was unable to complete work for clients, and lost his job.

Abdullah, his pregnant wife, and their 3 small children are now homeless. They have been running from place to place, sheltering in empty buildings and even vehicles. Not only are they in continued danger from aerial bombardment and ground attacks, they have nowhere to stay and no way to support themselves.

They are raising funds to evacuate to Egypt, and hope to stay there and find a home. The processing fees for evacuating to Egypt are very high, and they also require funds for securing a new home and the tools Abdullah needs to restore his livelihood. Twin girls Rawan and Razan both have thalassemia and other serious medical conditions. These problems require them to receive blood transfusions twice a week. This was difficult but manageable before October 2023, but became nearly impossible after that time. The IOF’s blockade on medical supplies and the massive increase in the number of hospital patients due to the attacks both mean that the girls struggled to receive their treatments.

Then, their home in north Gaza was destroyed. Not having anywhere else to stay, they were forced to flee to Rafah. They continued to receive treatments in Rafah, but this was still extremely difficult, as resources in Rafah were also scarce. The occupation has been attacking Rafah since October, but the attacks have escalated dramatically as the IOF initiates the invasion of Rafah. As the attacks have increased, so has the pressure on Rafah’s hospitals.

This has made it more and more difficult for Razan and Rawan to receive their necessary blood transfusions. These transfusions are absolutely necessary for their health. All of this is on top of the immediate danger in which they live—the danger of ongoing aerial bombardment, and the danger of the impending invasion.

Their father Arafat is trying to raise funds to evacuate their family to Egypt so that Rawan and Razan will be able to receive reliable and adequate healthcare in a safe environment. Their fund has had very, very few donations, and the fees they need to pay are quite high. Please support their campaign in any way you can.
