Canon events aren't bad, Miguel's just projecting his trauma.
One of the things that will always stand out or bother me in this scene are these three lines from Miguel:
Because... Wait what?
SOME OF THEM ARE GOOD??
Miguel admits himself that some canon events can be positive - but he names none, refusing to show any of these instances, instead surrounding Miles with images of loss and grief.
Even he admits that Canon Events aren't inherent tragedies.
They only come off that way, because he's hyperfixated on suffering. Largely, his own.
People have talked about Miguel's background in the past and that's a job for a Spider-man 2099 fan - but in short, Miguel DID NOT have a good life.
If you think about it - it's extremely hard for Miguel to POSITIVELY connect with other Spider-people.
He lacks the spider-bite, has no MJ, Harry, Doctor Octavius, or May. He's never had the experience of happily and excitedly coming into his powers.
The only thing he has, is a lot of tragedy.
Him not having many positive events in his life is just another reminder of how he's othered.
Because he's unable to connect to other Spider-people based on things like biology, love, familial connection to aunt May, the driving lesson that 'with great power comes great responsibility'.
Much of all knows is tragedy.
Because of this he hyperfixates on traumatic Canon Events, using the resulting fear as a source of unity, rather than uniting them all over good, constructive Canon Events.
Idk it just always stood out to me. Cause what do you mean GOOD???
Either Miguel is wrongfully weaponizing 'Bad' Canon Events as a source of authority - protecting his trauma and ignoring the good-
OR he's lying about there being good Canon Events, and that's something he tells them to make them feel better. Which would be fucked up.
OR OR The Canon Events he considers 'good' aren't actually good at all. Marrying your MJ might be a 'good' canon event. But you still have to do it. Even if you aren't into marriage.
Isn't that an arranged marriage?
If I don't wanna marry my MJ, but that's my Canon Event, is Miguel gonna beat my ass over it? 🤨😐

wah!!! spidersona reveal! Their name is Polaris and they're your friendly multiverse spider-traveler! Basically the classic "teenage" 20 y.o. adult with middle age crisis (Heavily inspired from Bee and Puppycat and Fionna and cake)
Polaris is a name that speaks to the strength and stability of the North Star, befitting a character whose determination and courage are always pointed in the right direction! Most ppl call them Spider-boy, though! like shut up you ain't quirky and special!
Their sidekick is also the little spider that bit them, isn't it cool?! ^_^

midnight nonsense
★ – notes: This is in reagan’s 1st person POV. Its quite short and, just like the title, doesn’t make sense. wrote this going to school so its rushed!
“Do you love me?”
Goddamnit. What a great question to ask in bed after having the most earth-shattering sex, Staedtler! “Of course,” I reply back with a smile. He acted weird today, awfully clingy. Most of the time, I wouldn’t like guys like this. But could you ever resist that face?
Both of us are in bed, his arms wrapping around my shoulder, as our bodies are covered by bedsheets. His hand twirls one strand of my hair as fidgets nervously. “Sure?” Ron chuckles, obviously joking. I did not catch that que. “Yeah, I’m sure, can’t you see that?” I shout back. The room goes dead silent and his lips deform into a sort-of frown. Everyone I’ve dated— especially him, knows I have these kinds of moods.
My eyes start to tear up, my hands covering my mouth as I loudly sob. “I’m sorry,” I whisper raspily. Ron’s hands rub my back as I cry. “Its okay, I know you love me. I wasn’t serious, y’know?” he says, trying to lighten up the mood.
Maybe I take things too seriously. Or emotionally. At times, I wouldn’t even show a smidge of my feelings. But that was at work. He’s different he’s a guy I met at anonymous therapy and fell inlove with in a burning owl. I know for a fact that we were different. And he has the audacity to ask questions a normal, cheesy, couple would ask eachother.
His kind words and actions soon stop my violent sobbing. Its really late at night, and it’s obvious I’m not getting any sleep tonight, but it’s not about my work.
I wasn’t emotionally vulnerable like this when I was a child. Infact, I did cry a lot before, but not this much. Not like this. And, its just about a simple question. There’s no right or wrong. It would’ve been better for me if I worried like this for something I can’t answer. Something definite.
And then, my thoughts stop consuming me, for now. I snap back to reality, my chest rising and vise-versa as I breathe heavily. “Goodnight,” I try to crack my lips into a grin, but I look painfully weird. Ron, like the man he is, says it back. He closes the lamp and goes immediately to sleep. I try to, too. Its just hard when you’re overthinking. Or when you’re overwhelmed by this four-worded question.
I turn my back on him and use my phone. And, I know, I’m tired— since I just had the roughest sexual encounter with him just a while ago. I didn’t know that could release those kind of emotions during, or after. Do I love him? Just like my answer, of course! My phone opens with a wallpaper of him and I, smiling, hugging. It made me think, we should’ve stayed this way today if I didn’t cry. Maybe I should’ve been honest just once.
