imagine you are like the physical representation of intelligence and you give ur coworker a gift to apologize for being dismissive of his feelings and he wears it as part of his whole permanent outfit for the next 3+ years and you still think he doesn’t like you. this is the reality that logan sanders lives.
Part 1 of the Little Nightmares Sanders Sides AU featuring The Actor on his stage. At first you can’t tell he’s facing you because of the position of his legs and then he attacks you if you make a noise that will “interrupt” his “performance” of janky terrible music and jerky motions.
The goal is to get up high above him on the Stage while avoiding making as much sound as possible and flicking a bunch of switches without being grabbed so the bright spotlights all shine down on him at once and he takes a bow. This lets Thomas, the protagonist kid, grab hold of the larger glass pieces in his head and tear them off.
It takes three literal stages to do this as he swoops out to catch you each time you pull one out and heads into another “room” of the stage. (stage 1 is the one in the third picture, stage 2 is a row of seats and stage 3 is a balcony) If he hears you he lets out a furious screech and reaches arms out to get you as more terrible janky music plays.
When the last of the glass falls out, the mask shatters and he shifts back into a child with a red coat affectionately dubbed Red:
Red has the ability of distraction when played in tandem with Thomas. He is able to cause distractions independently by making singing in different areas to call other monsters away from switches or levers.
A reminder from someone who specifically studies this stuff that the Sides from Sanders Sides are an accurate, if stylized, portrayal of the kinds of interactions that actually happen between different parts of a person's mind, and have absolutely nothing to do with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Everyone has Sides, or Parts as psychology calls them. If you've ever internally debated having that last cookie, you've experienced disagreements between your own Parts. There is an entire discipline of therapy- Internal Family Systems- that centers around identifying, communicating with and creating harmony between Parts.
DID is when Parts dissociate from the main consciousness so that the system experiences them as separate personalities. For those without DID, a person's Parts are exactly that- a part of them- and the Sides are a great depiction of this.
Saying that Sanders Sides is offensive to people with DID is inaccurate both about what DID actually is and about how people's minds work. There are so many genuine criticisms to be made about the show; please don't spread misinformation by using this one.
The Janus and Remus incorrect quotes were everything to me oki. Like I know its not 'canon' or whatever. BUT THEY CHOSE to ONLY film quotes were Remus is a chaotic madlad and Janus is the long suffering but honestly-no-better-and-kinda-down-for-it best friend. Love that for them
