Korean Air extends its winning streak to five games with a sweep of Samsung Fire.
Korean Air swept Samsung Fire 3-0 (25-20 25-19 25-22) in the men's Dodram 2023-2024 V-League at Gyeyang Gymnasium in Incheon on Friday.
Riding a five-game winning streak, Korean Air (6-2, 19 points) pulled within striking distance of first-place Woori Card (7-1, 20 points).
Jeong Jung-yong (14 points) and Lim Dong-hyuk (12 points) led the way. Jung added three blocking points and one service ace. Lim Dong-hyuk had a very high attacking success rate of 60%.
Korean Air's team attack percentage was also high at 57.57%. The defense was also solid from the first set.
Despite losing their second straight match, Samsung Fire (5-3, 14 points) remained in third place.
Samsung Fire's foreign player Yosubani scored 14 points but had an offensive success rate in the low 30s. She also had 12 turnovers.
Korean Air dominated from the start of the game. Led by Jeong Jung-yong, Korean Air scored three straight points with a back-attack by Kwak Seung-seok and a block by Kim Kyu-min to take a 7-4 lead.
Korean Air then took the lead for good at 18-16 with back-to-back kills from Jung Jeong-yong before taking advantage of a Yosubani service error at 24-20 to take the first set.
Samsung Fire lost the first set helplessly due to Jupo Yosubani's poor play.
The second set followed a similar pattern. At 3-2, Cho Jae-young's fastball and Kwak Seung-seok's block made the difference. Korean Air extended its lead with a variety of attacks and widened the gap at 18-13 with a quick opener from Lincoln.
Korean Air pulled away from Samsung Fire late in the second set with kills from Lim Dong-hyuk, Lincoln, and Jung Jeong-yong.
With the victory in hand, Korean Air took the lead early in the third set with a quick offense that included fastballs and quick opens. They went on an 8-3 run and raised their opponents' spirits.
Samsung Fire fought back and tied the score at 14-14 with Yosubani's serve and attack.
Korean Air, however, capitalized on Yosubani's back-to-back errors to widen the gap to 17-14. At 24-22, Korean Air ended the match with another service error.
Samsung Fire self-destructed with 26 errors, 10 more than Korean Air.
Meanwhile, Korean Air surpassed 32,000 set wins for the first time in its history.

Trailing 23-24 in the fourth set, the road construction company made a deuce with a timed attack by Bae Yuna, then ended the match with a service ace by Jeon Sae-yan and an open attack by Tanacha.
Pepper Savings Bank (2-6, 5-5) remained at the bottom of the standings.

Saudi Arabia virtually secures 2034 World Cup bid, likely to be held in winter again
Tumblr media
Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Saudi Arabia has been awarded the 2034 Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup.
"The 2034 World Cup will be held in Asia (Saudi Arabia)," FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on social media on Monday (June 1). "The FIFA Council has decided on the hosts for 2026, 2030 and 2034."
The 2026 World Cup will be held in North and Central America (United States, Canada and Mexico), while the 2030 World Cup will be held in Europe and Africa (co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco). In addition, the 2030 World Cup will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup and will include a few matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, where the first World Cup was held.
In keeping with FIFA's regional alignment, the 2034 World Cup was expected to take place in either Asia or Oceania. As such, a two-horse race was expected, with Saudi Arabia hosting the tournament and Australia and Indonesia bidding to co-host.
However, on October 18, Indonesia announced its support for Saudi Arabia. Australia then withdrew its bid on Oct. 30.
The deadline for submitting an expression of interest for the 2034 World Cup is Oct. 30, but with competitors dropping out, Saudi Arabia is likely to win the bid with time to spare. FIFA is expected to officially announce Saudi Arabia as the 2034 World Cup host in December.
If Saudi Arabia hosts, the 2034 World Cup is expected to be played in November and December, just like the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
"The average temperature in Saudi Arabia in June and July is 37 to 38 degrees, rising to a high of 41 degrees," said L'Equipe, a French media outlet, adding, "Following Qatar, the World Cup will once again be held in winter." 슬롯

Faltering 'next emperor' Alcaraz crashes out of Paris Masters in first round
Tumblr media
Carlos Alcaraz (No. 2-Spain), who became the youngest men's tennis player to be ranked No. 1 in the world and was touted as the leader of a generational change, has been on a long losing streak.
Alcaraz lost 0-2 (3-6 4-6) to 45th-ranked Roman Safiulin (RUS) in the second round of the Paris Masters on the men's ATP Tour in Paris, France, on Monday.
Alcaraz, seeded second in the tournament and coming off a first round bye, was broken by Safiulin in the second game and suffered an early exit.
This is the first time in any tournament this year that Alcaraz has been knocked out in the first round.
After finishing the season as the youngest world No. 1 after winning the US Open last year, Alcaraz's era was signaled by his victory over Novak Djokovic (No. 1-Serbia) in the Wimbledon final in July.
But the glory was short-lived. He suddenly went into a slump, starting with a semifinal exit at the US Open in August.
In September, he lost in the semifinals in Beijing, China, and was knocked out in the round of 16 at the Shanghai Masters last month. He then withdrew from the next event in Basel, Switzerland, due to injury.
Alcaraz entered the Paris Masters looking to reclaim the world No. 1 ranking at the end of the year. A win at the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals would have allowed him to overtake Djokovic as the world number one.
However, his exit in the first round of the Paris Masters put his plans in jeopardy.
Alcaraz will make one last attempt to reclaim the No. 1 ranking at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy, on April 13. 슬롯사이트

Weightlifting Park Hye-jung, AG gold 13 years after Jang Jang-ran Son Young-hee won
Tumblr media
From left, Silver medalist Younghee Son and gold medalist Hyejeong Park of South Korea and bronze medalist Duangaksorn Chaidee of Thailand pose during ceremonies at the women's +87Kg weightlifting event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023.
Park Hye-jung of South Korea lifted 125 kilograms in the snatch and 169 kilograms in the jerk for a total weight of 294 kilograms to win gold in the women's +87 kilograms (heaviest weight class) at the Hangzhou Asian Games at the Xiaoshan Sports Center in Hangzhou, China, Saturday, Oct. 23, 2018, beating Son Young-hee, 30, who lifted 124 kilograms in the snatch and 159 kilograms in the jerk for a total weight of 283 kilograms. It has been 13 years since a South Korean weightlifter won gold at an Asian Games since Jang Jang-ran, who was the heaviest weightlifter (75 kg and above) at Guangzhou 2010.
Park's chances of winning the gold medal were expected before the Games as China's Li Wenyuan, 23, the world record holder (148 kg in the lift, 187 kg in the snatch and 335 kg in the total), was unable to compete due to injury. Park was on a roll at the 2023 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last month, winning the triple gold medal in the upright (124 kg), beam (165 kg) and total (289 kg). It was the first time a South Korean woman had ever won three world titles, a feat not even Jang Jang-ran had accomplished. Lee Won-won withdrew due to right elbow pain.
It was not a relief, of course. Senior national team member Son Young-hee lifted a career-best 124 kilograms in the lift to put pressure on Park Hye-jung, who lifted 125 kilograms. After lifting 157 kilograms in the first phase and 160 kilograms in the second phase, Park sealed the win with a personal best of 169 kilograms in the third phase. Despite suffering from back pain after the second phase of the competition, she managed to complete the third phase.
Park's total was one kilogram shy of her previous best of 295 kilograms set at the Asian Championships in May. Son Young-hee, who also attempted the flip, failed to break her own Korean record of 169 kilograms in the dragonfly, and Park Hye-jung lifted the same weight to seal the gold medal. The 2018 Jakarta-Palembang runner-up took silver for the second consecutive Games. This is the first time a South Korean athlete has ever won gold and silver in the women's weightlifting event at an Asian Games.
Park Hye-jung, who took up weightlifting in her first year of middle school after watching Jang Jang-ran compete, has been hailed as the "next Jang Jang-ran," breaking Korean middle school and junior records. In May last year, she won three titles at the Junior World Championships. She has been lifting a total of 25,000 kilograms of barbells every day, aiming for a total of 300 kilograms. By standing at the top of her game in her first Asian Games, she has raised expectations for next year's Paris Olympics.
After the match, Park Hye-jung said, "There was a lot of pressure to have a domestic fight with Young-hee. We said to each other, 'Let's go home smiling,' and I'm glad we did well." Korean weightlifters finished the tournament with one gold, two silver and three bronze medals. 스포츠토토링크

Figure skating hopeful Kim Yoo-jae
Kim Yoo-jae also raised her medal hopes with a personal best score of 65.33.

"Don't go out" NC coach Kang Myung-hwa fined 1 million won for delaying game after sending off
Tumblr media
NC Dinos head coach Kang Myung-in.
The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) held a punishment committee meeting on Tuesday to warn NC Dinos manager Kang Myung-ho 스포츠토토 for intentionally delaying the game after being ejected and imposed a 1 million won sanction.
Kang was ejected from the game against the LG Twins at Changwon NC Park in Changwon, Gyeongnam, on Nov. 27 after protesting the outcome of a video review in the third inning.
At the time, with runners on first and third, LG's Shin Min-jae hit a grounder to second that was caught by NC second baseman Park Min-woo, 토토 who then threw out first baseman Hong Chang-ki for an overthrow to end the inning.
However, Park Hae-min, who was on third base, dug in, and LG argued that Park's touch of home plate was faster than Hong Chang-gi's out. The umpires agreed, allowing LG to score.
NC requested a video review, but the call was not overturned. Coach Kang then protested on the field, and the referee ordered him to leave. According to the rules, protesting the video review is an immediate ejection.
As the inning ended, NC's offense in the bottom of the third inning should have been underway, but Kang, who was unhappy with the call, ordered his players not to take the field, delaying the game.
"The decision was made in accordance with the league's penalty bylaws," the KBO said, 스포츠토토링크 "and we will strictly punish any behavior that interferes with the smooth operation of the game in the future."

After taking time to focus on each other's growth, the 10-player team began to gather ahead of the dragon. The battle was one-sided in BLG's favor, with the 'on' blitzcrank slicing through the grabs and pushing Genji back with aggressive fights.
Genji also had some meaningful moments, including a dive off the bottom for a kill, 안전놀이터 but BLG wasn't going to be deterred, and picked up kills of their own to close the global gold gap. Above all, the jinx of 'Elk' was already feared, with a KDA of 3/0/3 at 17 minutes.

Genji made a similar exchange in the one-two in a difficult situation, but couldn't capitalize. After blocking the Baron's view, BLG cut Doran and picked up the Baron as well and started to speed up.
With the Dragon Soul in hand, BLG solidified their victory. Even 'Chobi', who has always been a reliable support in any situation, looked shaky, and BLG defeated Genji with a strong showing, 스포츠토토 advancing to the upper rounds and facing T1 tomorrow.

'The General is Back' Liv Sandbox Brings 'Teddy' into the fold
Jinseong "Teddy" Park joins Live Sandbox.
Live Sandbox announced the signing of long-range dealer Park "Teddy" Jin-seong on its official social media accounts on Wednesday at noon.
'Teddy', who left Guangdong Freecs after the end of the 2022 season to become a wild man, returns to the LCK in a new uniform after about half a season. Although he struggled with the team last season, he is still considered a competitive player.
He's also a veteran who has been through the wringer, so he'll have a good synergy with the relatively inexperienced roster. Teddy, who debuted in 2017, has won three LCK titles, one MSI and two World Championships in the past six years.
The signing of Teddy ends the contract of existing long-distance dealer Myung-jun "Envy" Lee. Returning to Live Sandbox ahead of the 2023 season, 'Envy' has anchored the team's lower lane with his improved performance during the Spring Split.
Meanwhile, the organization has also seen good results from in-season reinforcements in the past year. Before the start of Summer, the team brought in Lee "Prince" Chae-hwan and improved from ninth to third place.
They ended the spring in sixth place. While this is more than expected for the individual players, it's a situation where the organization, having seen the potential of the squad, can't help but be greedy. 스포츠토토 It will be interesting to see if 'Prince Magic' can be followed by 'Teddy Magic'.
