how long until post-NWH peter finds some kid copying spider-man trying to be a vigilante. and how long until til peter freaks the hell out trying to both protect the kid and avoid the kid, not wanting to become any sort of mentor.
because in peter’s experience, mentors die

Tony: Listen, I know I'm not your father-
Peter: I know.
Tony:
Peter: I know you're not my father Mr. Stark.
Tony: But-
Peter: Do you know?
Tony:
Peter: Do you know you're not my father?
Tony: Yes, I know.
Peter: You don't act like someone who is not my father, Mr. Stark.

Peter looked around hesitantly, not feeling very confident about his decision to give them what they wanted, but he knew that if he didn’t, they would do things that he really didn’t want to happen, things to MJ and the little one on the way. He couldn’t let that happen.
He moved across the room, sitting down on the operating table as instructed. He watched extremely closely to every movement that was happening around him. His senses were currently dialed up to a ten, the feeling of a headache coming on. Just what he needed.
“Don’t worry. The more you cooperate, the quicker this will be over and you can go back to your MJ,” Osborne told Peter. The kid didn’t respond, but simply nodded as he watched them insert the needle. He didn’t even realize he was holding his breath as he was trying really hard not to go into a full panic attack.

“Mm…” Peter groaned. He began to look around, searching, studying the room they were being held in. It was dark, so his eyes didn’t take much time to adjust, even with the migraine currently hammering his head. He quickly noticed small windows towards the ceiling, causing him to assume that they were in a room mostly underground. They didn’t do them any good though. They were barred and otherwise too small to fit through.
“I am not sure. I just remember everything going black, then waking up here,” he finally explained.

“Well that’s the thing,” he said hesitantly. “I… have something that I kinda need to talk about, but… if anyone found out you knew, you could get in trouble, and I really don’t want to do that to you, ya know? That wouldn’t be fair for you, or anyone else. Plus it would kinda defeat the purpose of everything that has happened over the last few months that you know nothing about, but… I guess what I’m trying to ask is, would it be okay if I told you some things that no one can know and you could get in trouble for knowing? I don’t have anyone else to talk to. And if the answer is no, I totally get it. It really would be fine.”

Peter rubbed his hands together excitedly. “Would you believe me if I told you that I’ve never actually played this game? So you’re gonna have to teach me.” The kid was bright eyed, more so than usual.

Peter was feeling very excited this particular night. Tony had promised him that he could help work on project that he had previously been forbidden from touching, but because Tony was there to supervise tonight, so he reluctantly said yes. First though, Peter had to get himself dinner. The kid was always hungry, and had to get his calories in thanks to the enhanced metabolism that kicked in after the spider bite.
He had ordered a buttload of cheeseburgers from the nearest Burger King to the lobby of the Compound. He had just gotten them and was heading back up to his room to grab a few quick things before heading to the lab with the rest of his dinner and Tony’s too. His plans were quickly changed when he saw an unfamiliar and bloody figure in the hall of the Compound. Well this was different. He assumed that this wasn’t someone that was supposed to be here, considering the woman’s condition and the fact that she didn’t seem like a standard agent that wandered these halls from time to time.
He removed the burger that was still half in his mouth, taking a big bite. “Um, hi?” he said with a full mouth. Judging by her condition, she desperately needed help, but then he would miss his chance to work on the big project. “Uh… how did you get in here?”
A form moved through the trees. Shoes once travelling at a sprint, now shuffled through dried pine needles along the forest floor. The soldier's feet hardly lifted off the ground. Exhaustion left her knees buckling every so often. More than once, she'd woken on the ground, confused and unaware of when she'd fallen. But she kept getting up. She had to keep going.
Rockland. Her mind was fuzzy, yet she held the name close. Rockland. Her baby. Her old coworker had found her. Had reminded her of who she was. And the fire had ignited behind her eyes.
She'd fought her way out of Hydra's grasp, and had stayed in the brush as long as she could manage. The soldier had survived off the land. She'd gone days without sleeping, had hardly eaten. She had managed to find a blackberry bush, and some wild mint. It wasn't enough for a super soldier, but it was something. Her supply was dwindling by the time she reached the forest edge. By the time the property came into view. Great hunks of concrete and glass. For a moment she feared it was another Hydra base, but no. It was too visible. A part of her wanted to retreat back into the woods. She couldn't, though.
They had to have a bathroom somewhere in there. A bathroom meant running water. Which meant searing wounds cleaned, and a drink to soothe her aching head, and dry throat. She was so tired. Even trekking across the grass seemed a feat, never mind gathering the brains to strategize. She wouldn't be stepping through the front door. That much was certain.
The woman checked for any signs of movement before noting the nearest wall and making her way towards it. Pressing her uninjured palm to the surface, a web of turquoise energy seeped into the crevices. Within a few moments, she'd peeled back a crack in the wall and peered inside. No one in sight. Hopefully the facility was closed. A larger section of the wall rolled back as though made of paper, and she stepped through the makeshift doorway, and paused for a moment, listening.

Peter didn’t even bother to look up from his laptop as Ryan spoke, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t listening. He was already looking up the location of the antique shop and how far away it was from the orphanage. It took a while for it to load though thanks to the laptop being from the dumpster. It was several years old and working at half speed.
Once it was finally loaded, Peter turned the computer on his lap so that Ryan could see it. “Okay, so here is the orphanage, and here is O’Riley’s Antique Shop. They are pretty close as you suggested.” He turned it back around, loading up the predicted distance between the two, then turned it back to Ryan. “Looks like it is only a couple minute walk. So real close. I think you are on to something there,” he said with a bright smile.
“So, we officially have three clues. The orphanage that we can go to and ask some questions concerning Matthew’s disappearance, the paintings which match the paintings of your friend, and the antique shop which is very nearby!”

“Not really…” Peter replied quietly as he poked at his lunch. Again, not completely a lie. He hadn’t been able to keep in touch with Ned and MJ. They didn’t remember him. Why would they have kept in touch even if Peter had asked them. He wasn’t necessarily about to share that information though. He decided to just say it as it was.
“Sadly, things went sideways and we had to part ways. It… it is what it is, you know?” He paused for a brief moment before looking back at Ryan. “What about you?”

Peter gave Scott a look that could be paralleled to a hurt puppy. The kid was absolutely starving, and his friend was withholding food from him? How rude!
“Fiiiiine, fine fine fine. I’ll tell you, but can we not do it here?” he asked just above a whisper, nonchalantly pretending to shoot a web, indicating that it had to do with Spiderman, but the police didn’t need to know that.

Peter smiled cheekily from the bench right inside the doors of the police department. He didn’t really know what though. Scott wasn’t there to see it.
[text: spiderman ( maybe? )] Uh… not exactly. Just… could you get down here and I’ll explain everything.
[text: spiderman ( maybe? )] and maybe bring some cheeseburgers?

Tony: Do you want to do anything special for your birthday?
Peter: *shrugs* It’s not for a few more months
Tony: . . . Peter, it’s next week

Peter’s mouth turned downwards into a frown, but he didn’t utter a word. He took a step back to give Tony a bit of room when another wave of frustration hit. He wished there was something he could do to take away the pain that Tony was having to deal with, both physically and emotionally. Unfortunately, he hadn’t found that opening yet, but it would come in time. It always did.
He quickly dismissed all of that for the time being when Tony told him to pull up a chair. A hint of excitement came over him as he rolled over a chair so that he was right next to the older man. Peter slipped his hand in front of him, grabbing the screwdriver and immediately setting to work on the prototype. It kinda felt like some of their earlier days together, except now instead of sliding a prototype towards Peter to test him on his skills, he was sliding it towards him because he already trusted his skills.

“Yeah, Aunt May knows,” he started, his focus already very centered on the task at hand. “She had work tonight, so she won’t be back until morning. Also, she sent me with some of her signature lasagna we had leftover. I put it in the fridge for later.”
When FRIDAY sent him the text, asking if he would come over the night, Peter knew Tony wasn’t doing well. It broke his heart. Sure Tony wasn’t dead, and sure he had saved the entire world, but that hero sacrifice clearly took a toll on the man. The kid had begun to notice that Tony wasn’t nearly as soft as he was prior, not nearly as enthusiastic to work on new scientific experiments as a team like once upon a time. Still, that wasn’t going to make Peter give up. It actually gave him quite the determination.
Tumblr media
“No… I didn’t bribe her.” Peter tried to ignore the sting that came from Tony’s words. The kid was being overly sensitive and tried not to show any feelings. He crossed the distance between them and hovered over Tony’s shoulder, glancing at the project before him. “Whatcha working on?”

“Yeah, nice to meet you too,” he replied genuinely. It took Peter a lot of dislike someone, and a little harshness thanks to some misunderstandings or what not was not going to be the tipping point for him. He could easily look past that.
“So, Liberty Rogers…” he started, awkwardly trying to start a conversation between the two of them. “Daughter of Captain Rogers? That’s pretty cool. Being the daughter of an Avenger.”
Tumblr media
"You have got to be freaking kidding me." Liberty muttered to herself when she spotted a familiar blue and red suited hero across the room of new team mates. Why hadn't it occurred to her that Queens would be here?
Liberty tried to act unbothered as Kamala practically dragged the masked hero over and started to introduce them. "We've met." Liberty said crossing her arms over her chest. "It's been awhile, Queens." @americasdaughter

Peter was excited to be included in the group of young Avengers. He had always kinda acted as a loner. Not necessarily because he wanted to, but because he was weird and most didn’t want to be his friend.
He was rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet when he saw the familiar character making her way towards him behind Kamal. He smiled a bit nervously, trying to not make a huge deal. “Hey Liberty. Yeah, it’s uh… it’s been a while. How have you been?”
