One of what will likely be several iterations/drafts of Cole from my AU!
In this AU, Cole is the Captain of the Guard, following in his mother’s footsteps as a warrior of the empire. He knew Zane since they were kids, and had harboured feelings long before he even knew it himself, and fell in love with the others after meeting them later on.
I’m still struggling trying to design the armour/uniform he’d wear. It is heavily based on what I could find on Chinese armour, and armour designs made for danmei and Chinese historic-fantasy genres. But even with this flexibility, designing armour is incredibly difficult. Hopefully, this fits though.
For anyone who might be curious, this and a design I made for Zane is for my AU “The Emperor with the Warm Heart” (TEWTWH) - a long fanfiction project I am planning to write - hopefully soon!
Any suggestions or critiques with this design it welcome!

a man self immolated in front of the israeli embassy in washington dc yesterday. not just any man. an active member of the us air force. he live streamed his death, and said that he refused to be complicit in a genocide any longer. he said that compared to what palestinians were facing every day, setting himself alight was nothing.
let me reiterate. an active duty air force member burned himself alive because he was so disgusted by what the us government was openly supporting. he live-streamed his own suicide, so the whole world could bear witness as a man in his military uniform set himself on fire to protest his government’s complicity in the horrors that we have all been forced to watch happen in real time. he became a new horror. footage of the immolation blurs him out the moment the fire catches, but you can hear him. it is over in seconds, really, but you can hear him screaming. he shouts “free palestine” until his body physically cannot make any sounds other than guttural screams of agony. and then he falls silent. a police officer arrives and points a gun at his still burning body, shouting at him to get down on the ground. and it is over.
his name was Aaron Bushnell. he was twenty five years old. and he isn’t here anymore because the political ruling class has decided that genocide is perfectly fine as long as it preserves imperialism. in the coming days, people will try to discredit him. to say that he was mentally unstable. they will try to bury his actions to save face and defend israel’s propaganda. do not let them. aaron knew what he was doing. he knew what he was doing when he put on his military uniform, set up his twitch stream, and made his final walk up to the embassy. he knew what would happen to him when he flicked that lighter. do not let them forget. aaron’s blood is on the hands of the political ruling class.

So I found Aaron Bushnell's reddit and went through his comments/posts. That young man was well read and stable as they can be. Nothing in his writings pointed to someone who was "unstable" or "brainwashed".
He held leftist and anarchist ideals. He belong to the ACAB subreddit. He recognized the evil of the US Military even though he himself was a part of it. He hated TERFS and called out fatphobia. He understood the dangers of white supremecy and the evils of capitalism.
He had a cat. He liked the show fleabag and played elden ring.
Apparently in his will he wants to leave any money in his name to palestinian relief funds. He was trying to find a new owner for his cat.
Rest in peace Aaron Bushnell. The world won't forget & we sure as fuck won't let the media paint you out to be some crazy conspiracy theorist who had no idea what he was doing.

Main references were from Pinterest of largely (i believe) Chinese armour. It’s only the first draft so it may or may not change, depending on how it develops.

I have been working on an AU for a while now with Zane as a kinder Ice-Emperor.
And since I’m held in the clutches of hyperfixation, I’ve been trying to narrow down a design for the characters, starting with Zane! I can’t say it’s complete, because it isn’t, but this design is the closest I’ve come so far in getting his design “right”.
I will definitely post an updated version of him at some point, but Inwould really appreciate any bits of constructive criticism, feedback, or even ideas for him!
His design is heavily inspired by ancient Chinese clothing, as well as designs usually seen in danmei for anyone wondering!

@ ALL RISE FANS THAT MAKE COMICS & STORIES
So I’ve noticed that in this fandom it’s common to include Deaf/ASL-using-characters into stories, which is honestly AMAZING and makes me SO HAPPY TO SEE, but many of us aren’t deaf we rely on resources, therefore:
My ASL teacher gave us this website cause it’s updates constantly (ASL evolves lots) and it’s a lot more accurate and reliable than just google :))
To work it- type the word, and a word bank will pull up, click on the term u want and a video/description of the sign and word will appear!!!
It’s rlly simple and has most words and if it doesn’t it’s bc it’s finger spelled probs!!!!
If u want more in-depth good grammar, search up “five parameters ASL”, “glossing in ASL” and watch a few videos to see “how sentence structure differs in ASL”
As always, remember it’s ok to make mistakes/notice a mistake, just be mindful and kind :D most of us aren’t out for malice and if someone is it’ll probs be very obv 😭

WIP!
Trying to create a design for Kawaii-Chan from Aphmau's MCD in hopes of turning it into a cosplay some day!
Just a note: the inclusion of blue was to help break up her design a bit and in reference to her family having a lot of blue in their own colour schemes (Dante, Dmitri, and Nekoette).
Any design criticisms or ideas for adding detail or other elements?
(also, sorry if the colours appear dull. I drew it on my Ipad and transferred it to my computer, so the colours might be different than intended)
