Connor looked around at the place and nodded politely at Tracy. He had never seen the place before but he liked it, and he liked the idea behind it. A place for Fauns and Satyrs to drink in comfort and safety throughout the war. “I suppose I should get you the drink now. We’d probably have to make a dash for it afterwards.” He made his way to the bar and called over the bartender. “Two of whatever he’s having.” He motioned towards Wally, waiting for him to order the drink that he wanted. He turned and looked over the place again. “So like, it’s for Fauns and Satyrs but demigods can still order and drink here?” He felt like he was somewhat intruding on their private club.
Wally smiled at Connor then looked to the bartender. “Why don’t we start off easy. Can you do pina coladas?” The bartender nodded and got to work on the drinks. Wally looked around with Connor and nodded softly. “Yeah. It’s more too of like a place where the two species can just have fun together. Fauns aren’t really well liked in New Rome, they’re kinda lazy. So this kinda gives them a place to make money, do some real work. Gets a little more uh, wild at night though, as you might imagine.”

Marcus nodded before stepping back from the the table which the book was situated on and ensure that his sleeves were rolled up and tightly secured around his biceps. He touched on a few runes he had drawn on himself which allowed him to tap into his powers more and have a clear mind. As he began to utter the spell, said runes began to glow and soon his eyes glazed over with a grey. The air around them flexed and tensed before vibrating as the mist was manipulated by Marcus. Soon enough there were two of him, then three, then four. As it come to the fifth mist-copy of himself, strain became evident on Marcus’ face and in a few seconds, the copies dissapreared and he let out a grunt as if he had just put something heavy down. He held his eyes shut and held his head, hoping it would help the new headache that had just started. “I was hoping to get more than four.” He said, disappointed in himself for not being able to make more copies.
Wally could feel the power vibrating off of Marcus - and he liked it. Wally loved working with his siblings. The energy of one, let alone two children of magic was like it’s own high. As the air grew thick, Wally crossed his arms and stared intently at his Roman brother. He smiled as the runes started to glow. Silently he prayed to Trivia and hoped for the best. Part of magic, always, was believing you could do what you intended.
At the sight of the copies, he beamed with pride. For a moment he forgot about the war that had happened and just admired his brother as a powerful demigod. As they faded, he smiled at Marcus. “Four is good, but five is better. I’d love to help you try again.” He came over to Marcus’ side and looked at the spell book. “Ready?”

◘ | “I am the child of the daemon of sleep, Wally. It would be blasphemous of me not to let you dream,” Z murmured softly as he let his eyes linger at his boyfriend’s lips. There was nothing more beautiful than his partner’s smile. He truly was the beacon of light that shines down on his otherwise gloomy life and he would probably never truly grasp how much that meant to Z. He’d never really know what an amazing gift he was, and yet…Z would spend an eternity trying to show him. “And we’ll need one eventually, anyway, unless you plan on never going on vacations with me. Which, by the way, is robbing yourself of getting to enjoy my amazing road trip playlists. A true tragedy.”
◘ | With Wally’s hand firmly in his, he followed the man into the living room as he interlocked their fingers. His head lulled against the blond’s shoulder for a second. “Oh gods…I’ve become a sugar daddy and I didn’t even realize it,” he moaned exasperatedly, yet entirely full of humor. He let out a snort and took his seat, then caught the can of peaches with his free hand and smiled at the tin. “You’ll absolutely have to stay pretty or I’m going to find another young, fit lad to entertain my whims, you know.”
“Daemon? Are you calling your father a demon? I don’t know if that is gonna bode well with us at the next Thanksgiving get together. I think the worst thing I’ve ever called my mom is . . . mother in a rude tone.” He frowned a little. But the frown was only there for a moment before it switched into a big smile. “We’re gonna need a big car. I’m thinking one of those hippy-dippy vans that come with the pot already stashed in the glove compartment.”
“I’ve always wanted a sugar daddy. So sweet.” He kissed Z on the cheek and then began planting smaller, quicker ones on his neck. As they sat together and Wally started to play the movie, he shrugged. “With magic I can make myself look as fit and as young as any nineteen year old in Miami.”

After the initial shock had worn off, Nico brought himself to his feet and brushed himself off. It was faint, but he felt a tingling sensation across every inch of his flesh, a feeling he’d never experienced before. He felt power, but it was unhinged, like he could burst at any moment. “I need you to figure out what in Hades’ name that was.” He requested, looking down at his hands, expecting to see his flesh moving, but it was very much still.
Tumblr media
“On it, Nico. Just stay right where you are.” Wally knew that he’d waste too much time trying to flip through the pages by hand. Thankfully, he was magical. He cleared his throat, opened his hands and let them hover right above all the fallen books.
“Give me the knowledge about Garth’s Brew, Give it fast, give it right, give it true.
Find me the information about that black mass, Show me with a clear and straight path.”
Having eaten two meals already, right after he spoke the command into the world it felt like he hadn’t eaten all day. Wally put a hand to his stomach, grumbling as he took the hunger as a sign that it had worked. A soft orange light started from where Wally was and extended a few feet away to a book. Wally grabbed at it and the book flew open, flying towards the end where it stopped on a certain page. While the writing was in Latin, Wally recognized the obvious picture of a black goo inside a jar. “Found it. You okay?” He looked back to Nico.

◘ | No stranger to anxieties himself, Z didn’t miss the momentary panic that seemed to express itself on Wally’s face. He felt himself harden at the thought of the situation escalating at all, whether for the good or for the bad. His comment was something made out of fleeting thought, one with a weight his tongue hadn’t considered until after it had already leaped from his palette. Whatever Wally would say would only leave the topic in the air for longer than Z had ever wanted it to be there.
◘ | When Wally threw, what looked to be, a tongue off of the bed behind him, Elwood darted off of Z and the man followed the motion with a tilt of his head. His attention was snapped back to his boyfriend as the blond began to speak and, like before, he steeled himself after the momentarily fondness of watching their cat be a cat. Just as he’d feared, it seemed that some things were better left in a specific time and place. Their talk under the lake had been one made out of hope for a future that wasn’t guaranteed. Now that they lived in that future, perhaps things were different. Not better or worse, just different.
◘ | “Wally…” he whispered, hands reaching up to frame the other man’s face. Brown eyes looked longingly into hetero-chromatic hues. His lips pursed as thumbs rubbed lightly against soft, stubble-ridden cheeks. “It’s hardly something we need to fret over just yet. We’re still fairly young and so is what we have here. Children, more cars, a house, or more animals…those are things we can save for when it’s come of age.” He scrunched up his nose a bit. “The only things you need to worry about tonight are what we’re having for dinner later and whether or not your very sweet, esteemed doctor boyfriend is going to put out after this lovely date.”
Wally scoffed and looked at Z like he was nuts. “More cars? More cars?” An eyebrow rose - and with it, his lips. His smile was sweet and his eyes crinkled with humor. “I don’t even have one car a-and you want more? Well, by all means run my bank account into the ground. Yes, let’s let the demigod who didn’t finish high school or college have dreams of multiple vehicles, of owning them.” Wally shook his head in faked distress. “Sometimes I don’t know about you, Goldsbourne.”
He book the man’s hand and stood up, walking with him out to the living room as the cats played with the discarded lump. “I guess we’ll have to rely on my sweet doctor-boyfriend to provide for me.” Wally went to the couch and snapped his fingers. Any food or drink that wasn’t already over at the table was now on it’s way via-floating. “You know I think you’d made a great dad.”

abbyhmorgan‌:
As much as she hated to admit it, Wally was right. The strain of holding up the shield while rocks rained down above it had spread throughout her whole body. Her torso and arms felt sore as if she’d just done some serious weight-lifting without stretching or getting warmed up first, and that pain was multiplied in her already sensitive legs, particularly on her the once-shattered bones of her remaining foot. To make matters worse, unless she didn’t want to stand anymore, she’d have to keep on putting weight on her lower half.
“I hate it when you’re right”, Abigail grunted, then turned her glare towards the next fusser who came running towards her. At least this one was somewhat helpful. “Thanks”, she said, shoving the ambrosia into her mouth, swallowing before she’d even finished chewing. When he noted her speed, she gave him a small, touched, grateful smile. The quickest way to her heart: compliment her competence. “Let’s go. I don’t like the attention.”
Tumblr media
“Where are we going?” He asked. Wally looked around as everyone started to get back to work. People were already scaling the walls to see what had caused the rocks to fall. He figured if they needed any magic, they would just come and ask these siblings.
“We should grab something to eat, something quick though. I’m starving.” He put a hand to his stomach and looked around. There were a few places already that were up and running. Wally, as should everyone, always handed it to New Rome and it’s ability to recover so quickly from destruction.

◘ | Z’s fingers were being nibbled by tiny, yet lethal fangs, yet he didn’t seem fazed much by it. Instead, he tried to wrap his head around how he could go about fixing the words that had only recently left him. It was true that he had been in a far more “paternal” mood than he had ever been in. There were several children who needed guidance during the war. Z had been there to offer his hand to them and at some point, he’d allowed himself to drift into whimsy where the nurturing he offered would be to his own children. Wally’s existence beside him had seemed customary. There wasn’t a point in his life that he saw himself without the blond.
◘ | When Wally took a seat next to him, Z turned his head to give the man his fullest attention. The hand on his knee was every bit as warm as the cats that were also invading his space. “I don’t mean anytime soon,” he said quickly, almost defensively. “But we’ve talked about them before in passing down under the lake and I’ve not ruled out the thought.” He hoped that Wally hadn’t either. “It certainly isn’t anything serious so soon.” Z gave his boyfriend a smile, small and private.” What’s important right now, however, is that I love you and that I am excited to spend some quality time with you.”
Wally felt his throat close up before Z spoke. Nerves has tangled themselves up in his stomach. The thought of kids was terrifying. Wally was still clueless on so many things about being an adult. Some of which was his fault, but Wally also never had been forced to do a lot of adult things. Paying rent and surviving war was about as adult as it got for him. But a mortgage?
And what about parent teacher conferences? Would they school the kids here or in some normal human town? Where would they get the kids? Maybe they could entice Hera with an offer to get them the best one. The more he thought about in those few seconds it all seemed disastrous.
Wally’s face remained pressed. It didn’t grow calmer until Z was finished talking and Wally could process it all. “N-” he tried to speak but found that he couldn’t. Putting his fingers to his neck, his eyes bulged and he realized that his stress had materialized. He snapped his fingers and teleported the tiny object blocking his way. “Lump in my throat,” he said, holding something that looked almost like a tongue. Wally threw it off to the side to be forgotten. “I never really thought about having kids. I mean, we talked about it. I just . . . it seemed like so far off when we were in the lake. I would like kids, I think. Maybe if we get one when it’s like seventeen so we only have to take care of it for like a year?” Wally smiled at that and kissed Z on the cheek. “I do wanna talk more about it, but later on. Maybe send me an e-mail two days before so I can prepare.”

Marcus was less than pleased to have to share the book with the other, but at this point, it was the only option without having to cause a big fuss about it. He followed the other and pulled up his sleeves as they entered the room. “Can you help me?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. “I will be more than capable of performing the spell on my own.” He said cockily. However, he had to admit that it would be much easier if he could use Wally as a source of power, like a battery, just to jumpstart himself. But that was tolling and the other would probably not agree to it. “The illusion is creating multiples of myself to simply confuse the enemy. This book is the only book that I found with that spell.” He opened it flat on the table and waved his hand over the book, focusing on the spell he wanted and watched as the pages flipped open to that page. “It’s this one.” He tapped the page and took a step backwards into a clearing. “If you like, we can practise it together but I don’t know how well you perform illusion magic. I suppose it depends on your element. What is it?”
Tumblr media
Wally was all smiles as Marcus proudly proclaimed that he didn’t need any help. Wally didn’t think anything of it. If they were in the same exact room just a couple months prior, they’d be at each other’s necks with magic filling up the room like oxygen. It brought up for Wally the topic of how you treat your enemies when the war is over and there is suppose to be peace. He also felt some tinge of responsibility to be a friend to this man, simply because of their shared mother.
He walked over and took a look at the spell. “Transformation, but I’ve been expanding my skills. Mostly with curses and charms, but I’m not a strange at all to the mist and how it works. Maybe I watch you first, then give it a go.”

At first he thought it might have been mud, but the way it began moving around entirely on its own suggested a more supernatural origin. “Any idea what that stuff is?” He asked as he crouched down to get a better look at it. “Looks like it’s…alive.” He slowly reached out to prod it with his finger and in a second it was latched onto his hand, eliciting a surprised yelp from Nico and causing him to tumble backward. “Wally!” He shouted, waving his hand around wildly in an attempt to fling the substance off his his hand but to no avail. “What the f–” Slowly, the substance seemed to be absorbed into his skin and in an instant it was gone. “What the hell was that?”
Tumblr media
“Careful, Nico.” A waste of breath as just as he said it the thick black mass latched onto Nico like two magnets drawn together. Wally’s hands ignited a violet glow as he went into warrior-mode, taking two steps back to look over the dark-haired man as together they watched the slimy thing seep into his arm. “Fuck. Okay, okay calm down. Just stay still.” Wally looked over to the books fallen across the floor and then to the broken jar. Kneeling down, Wally saw that whatever was written onto the lid was in latin. “Translate,” he said, waving his hand over the writing. The lettering shimmered, revealing the English version: “Garth’s Brew,” he said softly. “No fucking help,” Wally said to himself and started to look through books one by one. “You okay, Nico?”

When Wally approached Nico about salvaging a library that had been demolished as a result of the war, Nico was happy to offer any help he could. The place was an absolute wreck, but there were definitely plenty of things laying around that could be saved. “No,” he called back, lifting up a fallen bookcase and examining its contents. “There’s some freaky stuff over here though. Wanna come take a look at this?”
Tumblr media
‘Freaky stuff’ seemed intriguing. Wally made his way over to Nico, stepping into puddles every few steps but keeping mostly dry. “Freaky how?” Wally turned his head to see what Nico was seeing and his eyes narrowed. “Is that . . . what is that?” From where Nico had lifted up, there was a mass of black slime on the floor. Totally different from the water around them. It moved itself around, inching closer to the two men. “Maybe,” he stopped when he noticed something a few feet away. A broken jar with some label on the lid. “It came from there,” Wally said in a sure manner, though he could have been jumping the gun.

“Nico, how’s it coming?” The pair were in a floor of the library just underground, seeing the damage that had been done. Surprisingly most of the library was in tact, but a sub-level had gotten roughed up somehow. They were just there to examine the damage and Wally would report back. “Nothing’s on fire is it?” It seemed like a few pipes had broken, causing some water damage and a bit of flooding. Wally was now just keeping any more books from splashing into the water and getting ruined.

Marcus tilted his head to the side, amused by the situation. “Huh.” He simply said. “If there was another book, I would have taken that one out now wouldn’t I?” He folded his arms across his chest and sighed. “That book has a few illusion spells and since the mist is my element, I think I deserve the book more than you do.” He wasn’t about to have an argument with a Greek demigod over who deserves the book when it belonged to New Rome, first home to most Roman demigods and then greeks. Marcus really wanted to book. There was a spell in there about summoning objects through the mist, something he believed he now had enough skill to learn.
Sighing, he knew that this wouldn’t end well. “I’m willing to share it with you, I just need to practice the one spell and then it’s all yours. I’ll even allow you to join me whilst I practice it. You’re welcome.”
Tumblr media
“I can get behind that,” Wally stated. He was glad that an easy offer had come up on the table so fast. “Let’s head to the Trivial?” It was a room in the library, named after a certain Roman goddess for children of Trivia, and now Hecate kids who wished to practice magic with no interruptions or scares of hurting others. The room was shielded by the mist so that any incantations gone wrong wouldn’t hurt anyone outside the room or cause greater destruction. Had the library been hit at all during the war, Wally imagined it would have stayed together in one piece.
He didn’t hand the book over however until they were inside the room with the door closed. “What kind of illusions did you want to try? Is it anything I can help you out with?” There a few easy ways to make friends with demigods. Training together, obviously. Discussing your favorite and least favorite gods, hopefully somewhere private where they weren’t likely to hear you. But for people like Marcus and Wally, they had the fortune of getting to practice magic together.

“Thank you. Sobriety does wonders, and so did the following punishments. I’m still a little sore from that. So much running… I didn’t even know New Rome was that big.” He sighed, remembering how his muscles ached. “I can handle her, and don’t worry! They’re super easy to get along with.” The group left to the pair of demigods was sat around a small lunch table, munching on their snacks of gold fish and giggling together as they came in. Aidan rushed over as he spotted one pulling their arm back to chuck one of the cheesy snacks, yanking the little fish out of his hand. “This is probably the hardest part, when they get a little mischievous.” He stood up and clapped his hands to settle the group down. There were around fifteen of them in all. “Alright everyone. This is Wally, one of the volunteers who’s going to be joining us today. I thought we could go to the gym and play some scooter tag?” The kids erupted in a chatter of excitement and it took Aidan a moment to calm them. “What do you think Wally? You think you could scoot faster than some of these guys?”
Tumblr media
“What exactly is sore, Aidan?” He grinned at his little dig. When he saw all the kids around a table, a little smile came to his face. Despite everything that had happened these kids were still smiling. The one kid who Aidan took the goldfish from caused a memory to resurface of Wally doing many things like that when he was a kid. He crossed his arms and grinned at them all as they looked to him. “I think I am the fastest scooter scoot in the world.” Some of the kids laughed, others looked neutral and some were still looking at  Aidan. “Maybe a few of them could beat me. I guess we’ll see.”

Wally knelt down by her side, concern on his face, asking if she was okay. Naturally, there was only one answer: “I’m fine”, she replied, with a dismissive wave of her hand. “Go… go check on him.”
The clapping made her want to sink into a hole and disappear. Where was a child of Pluto when you needed one? She watched, anxiously, as Wally made his way to the worker then back, with less than ideal news. At least he was alive. “He’ll live. That’s what matters”, she said.
“You don’t have to –” she began, when Wally reached out to help her, but it was too late. At least, today she was decked out in full-length sleeves and pants, so there was no skin-on-skin contact to overwhelm her. She wavered on her pained leg and her fake foot for a second, until she properly regained her balance. At all his fussing, Abigail tried to protest again: “Wally…”
Then there was a child of Bacchus all up on her business. If Abby was unreceptive to help from people she cared about, she was even less interested in accepting help from strangers.
“I said I’m fine”, she snapped at him, glared at the child of Bacchus until he was making himself scarce. Her gaze turned back to Wally again. “You worry too much. I lost my balance, that’s all.”
Wally could see that she was getting annoyed. He knew that. He knew that she should would rather handle it herself. Usually Wally would have no issue with that. He wasn’t one for crowing around someone if they did not want it. But, “it was more than balance,” he told her. “Just let me get you the stuff, okay? Those rocks weighed god knows how much.”
Someone in an apron, probably from a medicine store came running up to them. It was a no-brain’r to get ambrosia and nectar when there was an accident. The equivalent to just getting someone water if they were dehydrated. Wally thanked the person and took it from them. He knew if he tried to feed her or tilt her head back to drink, she might kick him in the groin. Instead he just opened up her palm and let the few squares of ambrosia drop in. “That was really good, though. You were fast.”

Marcus stopped dead in his tracks and rose his eyebrows at the sight in front of him. Quickly, he wiped the look of surprise off his face and put on a sickly sweet smile. “Wallace. It is Wallace right, or Wally?” He asked, stepping forward. He knew exactly who the other was but wasn’t about to show that he gave a fuck. However, what he did give a fuck about was currently in Wally’s hands. “I see you found the book for me, thank you, but I’ll take it off your hands now.” He held out his own hand, gesturing for the book to be placed in it.

Wally looked back, stunned for a moment. Well shit, he thought. “Hey, Marcus. It’s uh, it’s Wally.” He gave the man, his half-brother he forcefully reminded himself a try-hard smile. Wally looked down at the book in his hands and laughed. “Actually I was going to check it out. I found a few spells in it that I’d like to practice.” Wally felt this was about to be a truly awkward situation. They hadn’t seen each other in months. Wally was a bit glad he hadn’t found his brother on the battle field. It would have been a sore sight. “Is there another book you think has what you need in this?”
