The state of the political debate in France for the upcoming European elections is truly abysmal. The newest development is that one candidate named Rima Hassan has been summoned by the police. She's a lawyer and has the dual French and Palestinian citizenship . She grew up in refugee camps in Syria before coming to France when she was 10
She is #7 on the La France Insoumise voting list for the June EU elections. She's getting more and more attention in the last few months as a representative of Palestinian voices in France. She's been hailed as an important voice by the left but the "centrists" and the right only see her an advocate of terrorism
She's been accused of denying the terrorist nature of the Hamas attacks on October 7th despite have called Hamas a "terrorist group" in the past
Every closeted or outspoken racists in France are using the slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" as an argument of her antisemitism
In the numerous interviews she gave to mainstream media, the same type of questions are asked over and over again, question her statements as if they were not clear enough
The fight against antisemitism in France has been hijacked by racists to be explicitly Islamophobic and casting doubt of antisemitism on anyone who even dares to be critical of Israel
It's fucking crazy how people like Rima Hassan who are supporters of the Palestinian cause are always perceived or made out to be threats. Racist thoughts of Arabs being fundamentally antisemitic are so ingrained in French society that apart from her party, noöne has batted an eye at the very very worrying news that she's been summoned by the police as a form of political intimidation
Alongside with the former leader of the LFI party, Rima Hassan was scheduled to take part in a political meeting at Lille's university but because of cowardice, the meeting has been cancelled by the préfet
Literally, the "Palestine Libre" in the bottom right corner was too much for many closeted racists who this as a call to eradicate Israel and Jews. Fuck those cowards, fuck those racists
