Well, an anon ask is an awfully bad way to start, that’s one thing.

Whens the next event going to be? Will there be a reverse mini bang?

Oh, well, that’s … a good question.

Short answer: I don’t know.

Long answer: I would really like to run a reverse mini-bang as a companion event to SPBB 2016, but before launching anything like that I first have to a) finish up a zine I’m behind on, though relatively close to getting together, b) make sure I have someone to help me with whom I have a good working relationship, because I absolutely cannot do this alone, and c) be completely certain that I’m going to be able to finish the event on time or pretty close to it.

This Tumblr account has an inbox full of anons wondering what’s up with SPBB 2016, ranging from politely asking what the deal is to just flat-out pissed, maybe even demanding. And while the schedule slippage there was due to a pile-up of things that were mostly (actually, almost entirely) out of my control, the goal of running these things isn’t to annoy and disappoint people, so I’m not even going to think about it until and unless I can be reasonably assured that mostly won’t happen.

I am, as always, really glad to know that people enjoy these events and are curious about the next one!

Last but not least, and I really sincerely mean that, we have The Sound That Forevermore Separates the Old from the New, a 1950s AU from @julads with illustrations from @hausinge and Isobel.

Hi!

This is the Tumblr account for the South Park Big Bang, a collaborative fan works event that happens every year or so. We solicit South Park fanfics from authors; they can feature basically any content so long as they’re about the show and its characters and are over 20,000 words. When the stories are completed and turned in we solicit artists to collaborate on illustrating the stories. The stories are then posted, with the art, in one big reveal. In the past we have also run “reverse mini-bang” events in which artists created images and we recruited writers to collaborate on a story. A lot of fandoms run events like this!

We have a main site here, and this Tumblr is primarily just for communication, or rather, posting announcements. 

Not a weird question, and perhaps even a helpful one, since it tells me that the info on our Tumblr doesn’t explain what we do.

Today we have a walk in the wilderness to clear your mind, a shiny new Stan/Kyle fic from @shylohs, with art by perennial SPBB hero @kennymcshamrock and the patient @caetnir.

Summary: There’s a very good chance Stan has seen this exact scenario in more than one romantic comedy, but if they turned out okay in the end, then maybe this will, too.

Summary: Craig Tucker is a dysfunctional astronomer and untrained mechanic, living comfortably in an isolated desert town. With a lunar eclipse approaching, however, the sect is claiming the end of the world is at hand, and when a stranger who calls himself ‘Tweek’ passes through town on his way to way to participate in Armageddon rendezvous, Craig distracts him. Consequences ensue.

We basically match up writers and authors to collaborate on illustrated fic projects (or, sometimes, vice versa). We then host the stuff on our site, http://spbigbang.org/. After the stuff has been up for a month, people are free to re-post wherever they’d like, including FFN and AO3.

And, yes, over the years we’ve been fortunate to host the work of a variety of writers.

Summary: Something is very wrong in South Park. Stan has an insatiable hunger, Kyle can't turn Stan away when he comes looking for Kyle to fill his unending need, Kenny is engaged in espionage involving the second-tier Prince of Hell, and Butters needs help disposing of a body. Meanwhile, Cartman is ordered to volunteer at a Legal Aid office to fill his court-mandated community service hours. One of these things will bring about the Apocalypse before all is said and done.
