Louis supposes if he was an insecure type of guy, he would be digging into words and all the potential meanings they may hold. Granted, Louis didn’t just outright say ‘I like you.’ And he certainly didn’t say 'I love you,’ but hey - Greer’s response of how the earth is ‘pretty big’ could roughly translate as: 'boy, don’t be putting this sentimental shit on me.’
Either way, he continues on.
“By big you mean wide and vast.” Louis coolly corrects. “And, as amazing as the numbers are of allll these humans on this big blue planet, there’s a whole lot of hate and not enough love. So when you find somebody y'feel close to, it’s somethin’ you take serious.”
Head tilts slightly as Greer listens to words , part of his anxiety easing but he could feel his heart still beating rapidly against his chest . A bit of a smile even creeping in at the end of his lips by the time Louis was done talking .
“ You sound like you’re about to break out into song . “ He can be playful too . That made evident with the sly little smirk he lets come over features before dropping his gaze . Now her lips pursed in silent annoyance rather than as an attempt to stifle her laughter. “Drivel.” Some fire that Opaline still held inside her from her youth wanted to come spilling out, to argue her stance on the matter. But she’s a professional now; even those in the field of so called modern psychology scoffed just as he did at her choice of profession. If she mouthed off to everyone who didn’t believe in what she did, she wouldn’t be able to work anywhere.
“That seems to be many people’s perception of what I do.” She admits with an almost deflated sigh before she straightens herself out, lips curving into something of a smile for Lars. “But that is not what I do. It may be difficult to believe, but I do dedicate my life to counseling my patients. With excellent results.”
Of course Lars had no intentions on insulting her personally for what she did . His opinion on the matter just happened to be insulting . Maybe he needed to learn how to keep his mouth shut on occasions like this , but she did ask . Still he does feel bad when he hears that sigh . He knew that sigh , it was tired and defeat . Most likely because this was a view she knew would never really change except for those who gave it a chance and it happened to work for .
“ Well can you blame people when there’s so many hypnotists , fortune tellers , and healers out there offering so many promises to people ? You actually studied for this , so your shit is different I’m sure . “ It’s an attempt at defending her position .
