They are in the same arrangement as the Litwick chart which means for example, the Peppermint Litiwck evolves to the Parol Lampent being the 9th at bottom right corner. Even as lampents, they still keep their scents and more docile than the original. Domesticated breeds make more sense than subspecies based on real life lanterns used in homes and special occasions.

Okay so my post about hufflepuff being the best house got a lot more attention than I expected. So let's talk about all the UNEXPECTED hufflepuff things.
Hufflepuffs would be the most intense villains. Deathly loyal to their cause and highly capable of bringing others over to their side.
More twisted anarchist/ mislead freedom fighter villains than anything Voldemort related. If they did fall in with anything like death eaters it would likely be out of loyalty to someone/family rather than to the cause itself.
Would totally get into a prank war with gryffindor and slytherin but they would both just blame each other rather than suspecting hufflepuff.
Do not take advantage of their kindness and friendship. They value loyalty and things of that nature above all else but that dosent mean they are blindly loyal and forgiving. So if you betray or manipulate them don't be surprised when they treat you badly, cut you off, or even seek revenge.
If you fuck with anyone they love they will not go easy on you. They will make your life a living hell.
Bulling, Racism, Classism, Homophobi, Sexism, etc are NOT tolerated by them. They will curb stomp you. They will not stand to see people degraded, disrespected or hurt.
No not every hufflepuff can cook. They do squirrel away snacks though.
Everyone talks about them loving cute fluffy animals. Puppies, kittens, things like that. No one talks about the hufflepuffs trying to hug/love dangerous animals because 'they are cute and misunderstood!'
Not every hufflepuff embodies their values. Just because you value loyalty over knowledge dosent mean you are always the most loyal.
Hufflepuffs can be smart. They focus/study on the things they feel drawn to. A hufflepuff that LOVES magical creatures will learn everything they physically can about them. A hufflepuff that loves potions will not let anyone tell them they arent smart enough. They will learn every potion they can because they are drivin by a feeling of happiness when they do learn more about their passions.
Really suck to be around when they are tired or hungry. They are cranky as fuck
Resting bitch face can be the bane of their existence. They dont mean to scare people they want to make friends.
They are SO tired of hearing "you dont seem like a hufflepuff", "your too smart to be a hufflepuff", "you shouldn't have been put in hufflepuff"
Gets depressed if plants die. Will literally cry over their plant babies.
Cuss a lot.
Tall muscular hufflepuffs give the best hugs
Impulsively dying hair.
Hates wearing shoes...and pants...clothes in general suck.
Do stupid things in groups because they dont want their friends to get in trouble or hurt alone.
They are not bees. They are yellow jackets. If you hurt one of them the entire house will turn on you faster than you can blink.
Often driven by spite and really like to prove people wrong. "Oh you think I'm too ___ to do ___?? Well watch me work harder to do this thing than I have ever worked before"
