AI or no AI?
Pixiv has long been the main source for this blog. I always make a point of linking to the artist when possible. Some art has been found elsewhere and the artist was not named, but will be if it becomes known to me.
I have just deleted two posts of images that were generated with AI and as far as I know, nothing previously posted here was created with AI - indeed the vast majority of the art shared here predates AI.
Pixiv is now completely inundated with AI art. If I find something I think looks nice and want to share on here, 9 out of 10 times, it’s done with Midjourney or Stable Diffusion. It is becoming gradually more difficult to find human-created art that fits the theme of this blog. Hence the increasingly rare updates.
The question is now, should AI-generated art be shared here, or not? If not, I’m not sure there will be much to share in the future. Going through hundreds of artworks to find that one non-AI needle in the haystack is just too much work.
Or I can share AI art on here if/when it’s worth sharing, which is still a rarity.
Regardless of how one feels about AI art, there’s no getting around that it’s here to stay. The question is how to deal with it.
Reply to this post if you have opinions on how/if the blog should proceed.
