Happy anniversary @mechaniccat! It’s been an amazing year! 

It’s really easy and really tempting to think you are alone sometimes. Whether it’s by a feeling of anxiousness from silence, a less-than-expected response to a post, or even a hateful anon that decides to true to ruin your day. Trust me; I have been there many many times over. Sometimes you feel like people make content that reaches unreachable levels - whether it’s art, prose, heck, sometimes even jokes. Sometimes you feel like an idea that you have just wouldn’t work, or that if even if it did, that no one would really care in any way. Sometimes you feel like you -want- to talk to someone, but you just don’t feel like you should - like you feel as though you’d be troublesome to others - even if it’s just to ask how their day was.

I know some of you may take the large response to this recent anon as something harsh or a drama that flared to stay away, but the immense response and defense that came is a testament to just how strong, how close, how tight of a bond that we can share with each other as members of the community. We came to each other’s aid - almost instantly - when someone was being hurt by another. That requires more than just respect - that requires care - genuine care. That’s something that is earned through trust, through goodwill, and through a sense of protection and want for friendship. There is no ulterior motive. There is no trying to “get in” on something. There is no secret to unlock. There is no mind game being played here. We care about one another and want to make sure that none of us are being treated unfairly.

This is the real beauty of a small community like this. No matter how professional or hobby-oriented the content posted is, no matter how refined or experimental someone’s skills are, no matter how long they’ve been around or just starting - we’re all still people, and the small size of the community helps us see that so much more easily. We all have our days where we feel proud of what we’ve done, days where we regret something we’ve said or tried, days where we’ve stressed out over something that we know is minor but can’t seem to let go of, days where we’re excited to see what a user is posting next - we’re all living, breathing people who just want to post stuff, make friends and generally have a good time. With a community like this, we’re able to get to know each other quickly. Faces can be recognized even by someone like me with not-so-great memory. We can approach each other much more casually. We can remember if someone’s been having trouble with something and ask them if there’s any way to help or if they’ve been getting better. We can try to discuss things and know that at least someone will listen - it’s not drowned out in a sea of people all trying to get their voices heard.

Heck, I started off here thinking I’d never “reach the level” of some of the people here - people whose works I’d admired from afar and jokes that I didn’t quite get but was glad to see. All I did was make a few joke posts, after all. But you know what? Those people I thought would be hard to even be acknowledged by? They’re some of my closest friends now. They’re some of the most chill, fun and creative people I’ve met with a vast amount of good in their hearts and a want to simply “be” - to simply do what they love and share it with others. Because of the way the community, it didn’t take long to realize that at the end of day, everyone here is a person - with genuine wants and needs.

You are not alone. There are many, many others - others who are much closer than you think - who feel the same. And just as well, these same people - dare I say most of us - do want to interact with one another and do want to build these relationships in mutual care. After all, it wouldn’t make sense to make a public blog if we didn’t want to at least get the attention of someone else, right? You’re not alone, and there are many, many people who would be willing to build that friendship with you if you are willing to put yourself out there and strike up the interactions. Whether it be through art, through prose, through asks, through jokes - even just chatting in a stream - you might find yourself no longer feeling that loneliness as much anymore.

Ay, so this is my dog toon in my new art style. Yep. that pretty much sums it up.

Now I don’t watch Steven Universe, but what I’ve seen from @groovygags and @mechaniccat (who DO watch it) got me inspired. TOONS IN SUITS FOR THE WIN~

I’ll just leave you with some positivity before I sort of disappear for a week. I mean, I can still talk to people with Wi-Fi in the house we are staying, just expect literally no art from me! :)
