At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.
You must unlearn this.
You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.
If you ever want to truly love your fellow humans, if you ever want to truly love yourself, you must have forgiveness for being annoying.
so calvin klein released an ad on mother's day featuring a male/female couple where the man is visibly pregnant. the implication here is that families don't always follow the mold of the mother being the one who gets pregnant, not that the man is a woman for being pregnant. it's an ok ad, also the pregnant man is really cute.
what irks me is the sheer amount of transandrophobia surrounding this:
this isnt about people defending the trans man from being misgendered and being called a "mother". that's missing the point. this is about people being extremely uncomfortable with being forced to see a trans man, and a pregnant one at that, because we make people that uncomfortable. people are seeing it as an attempt at trolling, a joke, disrespectful to "real mothers" (AFAB people), or transphobic when it's none of these things.
also this was just the icing on the cake:
"what is a trans man"
we just dont exist to people, and when we do, we're a joke and a talking point for OTHER PEOPLE to argue over.
please listen to us for the love of god. we are begging you.
Chad is like a god or something. (or Hidgens is just exceptionally gay for him and it reads like worship to me).
spoilers + explanation below :3
Something I cannot stop thinking about in the Working Boys musical. When the boys appear all lightning struck and shit, Henry says their names oddly. I could be reading into it too much, but it reads like he doesn't expect Chad to physically be there. Like these are all the boys he expected to see.
He specifically says "you're all here" after saying the first 5 names. And Chad is NOT present.
Then he hears Chad is coming and he goes oh shit Chad?? Chad?? (Obviously he didn't FORGET Chad but this surprises him somehow?) "Do it, for Chad...." "For Chad............"
It got me thinking that Chad is some sort of diety for the boys. It's why they always say his name like they're trembling. There is reverence there. Every Working Girl name was changed, even Henry's own named was "butchered". But they kept Chad. Maybe he fought for that or maybe they just fucked with Chad.
It could go either way. He could just love his boys! I know they were sploinking on each other for sure. Read it how you'd like but I'm reading it both ways, personally.
I love how this reframes the Show Stopping Number and Henry as a whole. I always loved his character but Jeff Blims performance absolutely sold it here. Hidgens is here, years and years later trying to find comfort in his boys. He is so very very traumatized. "I dug my way free from my dead friend's charred bodies" God damn.
"He should be here around five o'clock/Five o'clock can't come soon enough." I love the silly five o'clock tie in.
