#FaceFear
I love to write, but I hate blogging... Or at least that’s what I tell myself so I won’t give it a good honest try. Truthfully I’m afraid to blog, to be a blogger, to be in a part of the blogosphere. Afraid of putting my thoughts out there, of people seeing/reading and not relating, of people not really being interested enough to read... or worse, people pointing out my grammatical errors!!!!
Actually most of this could be applied to pretty much 90% of the things I claim I hate. I have led a fear-based life for as long as I can remember. Not really sure how I collected so many phobias, and put up so much metaphorical red tape over these past 32 years (today is my birthday ^_^), but if it were an Olympic sport I would be breaking world records with the amount of gold medals I'd have. And after having countless talks, over and over again, about how I should change this and that and stop letting fear keep me from yadda yadda... I think it's finally time to break free and start sprinting towards some much needed change.
So that's how I ended up here, blogging, because I figured if I'm going to do this I might as well go all out. Thanks to my lovely homie Jenn, and the awesome constant encouragement of my Etiqt ladies, I have decided to make this a personal campaign. With a hashtag in tow; I will use this platform to not only keep me accountable to myself and others, but also give anyone else the ability to join in and #FaceFear right along side me. All I did was write a list, it could be as long or as short as you desire, and actively started trying to stop stopping myself from being my full amount of awesome.
As cliché as it is... see, look, I did it right there just now! That phrase is usually uttered because someone is afraid to say a quote used quite often and is worried that they don't seem original enough or cool enough. Cuss it! Life is too short (*boom*) for me to keep myself on the cussing bench all the cussing time. I can't let fear rule me anymore! I will be sensible, but I also will be bold and proud in my extreme Keiome-ness.
Let's all #FaceFear ladies and gents... a come up isn't a come up if we don't all shine together, right?
THE LIST (so far)!
NOT BE ASHAMED OF WHAT I'M DOING
Don't turn down your music if you don't have to
So what if you're a 32 year old who is catching Pokemon! You got them mad Poke-skills...
TAKE MYSELF OUT ON DATES
Don't be afraid to just eat/seek entertainment/just chill in the outside world by yourself
DRESS TO EXPRESS, AND IMPRESS MYSELF, NOT TO BLEND IN
Where pastel punk meets girlie goth meets Harajuku meets urban chic is where your heart stays
WRITE AGAIN
Poetry, novels, short stories, even blog if you need to (already started, lol)
RUN/WALK FUN RUNS/MARATHONS
EAT A SALAD ONCE A WEEK
This one is for the sake of actual salad enjoyment and not health reasons. I'm not afraid of eating them per se, moreso have been opposed to the idea of actually liking them damn things. Idk... I'm weird... I was also late to the Harry Potter game too, it's just how I roll sometimes.
EAT A MEATLESS MEAL ONCE A MONTH
Same reasoning as above... again, I have really odd things that I fear. I think it's mainly because it's a popular thing, and a smart thing, and I sometimes run the opposite way of the crowd.
GO SEE MY TEAM OF DOCTORS ON A SEMI-REGULAR BASIS
Or... you know... at all
Step 1: Actually form a team
Now THIS one is actually about health... see I care.
LEAVE RETAIL AND FIND A CAREER I'LL ENJOY A GOOD CHUNK OF THE TIME
Or you could open your own store... just something, anything, you’re excited most of the time to wake up and go to.
DON'T BE AFRAID TO BE IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Not just the public spotlight, but within my circles as well. It's okay to be noticed by my friends, fussed about, and be lifted.
CREATE A BUDGET AND CUSSING STICK TO IT
SAVE MONEY
Duh
GET MY LICENSE AND ACTUALLY DRIVE
Stop psyching yourself out!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never owned a driver's license, but I have had a learner's permit since Cinco de Mayo 2000
BECOME GIRLIER (for myself... not for anyone else)
Put on make-up once a week
Wear dresses and skirts as often as you can
Don't be afraid to be seen as a feminine creature, you can still be a bro with your homies while swishing around in your cutest attire
TAKE THE TIME TO READ MORE
You love it so make time for it! Don't be so afraid of missing out on TV and stuff. Make time for the things that make you happy.
HUG MORE
Don't be afraid to embrace others, and be embraced by others as well. Your body was practically made for it ;)
I’m sure I’ll come up with more in the future, but I feel like this is a GREAT start! Some of these will be more challenging than others, but to conquer any of these will be an amazing start down a happier path. Good luck to us all!
