Ratatouille is a good movie and all but can we stop ignoring the weird sub plot about how it's wrong for rats to steal? Like. What are they supposed to do then? Buy food? From the grocery store? With WHAT MONEY ratatouille?
#no but like hear me out#gusto is remys inner imagination so those voices telling him not to steal actually come from his internalized hatered of his poor family#he feels like his rat environment is the reason he can’t cook#that’s why he thinks that he can actually succed by completely rejecting his rat society lifestyle and morals#he wants to rise above the social position of his family and that’s why he’s rejecting the idea of it#I mean the story has some sort of this rags to riches fantasy which we all know is meh#like it’s making it seem like barely existing and almost starving to death is revolutionary and hard work will eventually pay off#when in reality you’re only adapting to the existing system#but maybe that was the actual message?? that sadly we are so deep into this capitalistic shit that we can’t really change it#and the only way to exisit is to somehow find comfort and support in the small circle rather than trying to change whole opressive society

COVID is slowly becoming a "third world" disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can't get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.
