On further research, it was found that the photo of MS Dhoni being used in these viral posts is originally from Chennai Super Kings' official Twitter post dated October 5, 2020. The Print reported it to be an old photo of the player. The photo was posted to celebrated the IPL team's reaching of 6M follower count on Twitter. Amidst the growing pool of social media content on the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the major portion center around the political battles between the parties contesting in these elections. From on-ground videos to leaders' speeches - political content is being circulated at higher amounts than usual at present. This has also garnered a significant amount of misinformation being forwarded across platforms. One such set of misinforming content is pushing Indian actors at the center of the fake news. The cases of popular actors of the Indian cinema - Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, and Allu Arjun have gained attention in the recent few days, raising questions on the authenticity of election-based content spreading like wildfires across platforms. The deepfake dilemma of Ranveer Singh Recently, a video of Ranveer Singh was circulated across social media platforms where he was seen criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The video was connected to the actor's recent visit to Varanasi for Manish Malhotra's fashion show. During the festival of Chaitra Navratri (April 9 to April 17th), photos of Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani with fish in her hands were being circulated across social media. The post claimed that the minister carried a fish and at the same time also carried a photo of Hindu goddess Durga. This was meant to question the stance of the BJP leaders as they condemned the sale and consumption of meat during the auspicious days of Navratri on one hand while the photos of Smriti Irani represented quite the opposite situation. Context As a step of counter-action against Israel, Iran attacked Israel with more than 300 drones and missiles on April 13 and 14, 2024. This was in response to the speculated strike by Israel on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, 2024. The strike, called Operation True Promise by Iran, led to explosions in various cities (like Tel Aviv) across Israel. As the aerial attacks by Iran affected various parts of Israel, several photos and videos of the incident are being circulated across social media platforms. However, one such video about an Iranian drone was found to be falsely connected to the conflict. The Text on the banner is edited, it was rather against Rahul Gandhi. Although the edges of the banner are blur proving the image is edited, we also used forensics of the image. The earlier one has been erased and the viral one was written. The left one is viral now and the right one was viral before (although we can not confirm it's authenticity though) You can notice the red arrows showing the blurred black color on the edges of the banner plate which shows the image is not real. Further we used ELA (Error Level Analysis) of Image Forensics which clearly proves the text is added later. The contrast of the text (white color) on the image proves it.
