For a show written by a woman, Beyond evil seem to sidelined their female characters a lot.

My unpopular opinions about the penthouse 2 (Spoilers alert)
- I don’t like Yoonhee, nor do I like Seokhoon
- I’m indifferent towards Rona
-I don’t ship Rona and Seokhoon. I think they are both very bland characters, more so Seokhoon, and their love story just lacks any depth despite the fact we’ve been watching them for two seasons now. They do have chemistry tho, so I guess they have that going for them.
- I didn’t feel bad for Yoonhee when Yoon Chul betrayed her. His actions made sense with who he is as a character. And anyways, she did the exact same thing to Sureyon back in season 1, so no pity here.
- I don’t ship Yoohee and Yoon Chul together, They look good together and I actually like the chemistry between them, but they are not giving me what I want.
- I actually like Seojin. I didn’t like her in season 1 but this season, she grew on me.
- I don’t hate Yoon Chul.
-  The actors that play Joo Dan tae and Shim Sureyon have amazing chemistry and has Dan Tae not been the devil incarnate, maybe I could’ve shipped this characters together.
- The reveal that Yoon Chul is Rona’s father is dumb and doesn’t make sense.
-I wished people could just stay dead on this show. I’m glad Suryeon is still alive but if the writers were dead set on “resurrecting” Rona, she could’ve just stayed dead. Like either she is alive and Rona stays dead or it’s the other way around. The both of them being alive makes it hard to take death seriously on the show. (Don’t know if it makes sense).
- I don’t think Seojin deserves to be abused despite all the terrible things she has done.
- I don’t think Eunbyeol should go to prison for what she has done to Rona. I rather see her get the psychological help she so desperately needs.
- The only Hera kid I actually like is Jenny.
- I LOVE the dynamic between Seojin and Yoon Chul. It’s been that way since season 1. I know they are toxic but what can I tell you? They’re entertaining to watch and I think the actors have great chemistry.
- The scene where Logan does CPR to “Aegyo” bothers me.

If the writer wanted to create conflict between Rona and Jenny, they could’ve found a better reason than the one they gave us. Like, obviously people are gonna take Rona’s side on this matter because Jenny’s reason for being mad at her is ridiculous and frankly doesn’t make sense. Instead of being mad at Rona because she think Oh Yoon Hee is the reason her mom is going to prison, which only shows her unwillingness to make her mom accountable for her own actions, why not be mad at Rona because she hasn’t taken the time to call her and tell her she’s alive, despite the fact that they became friends before her “death”. Why not be mad because Rona is spending time with one of the girls that bullied her so badly she lost hair over it  and her brother, you know, the guy who knew all about it but decided to not intervene. I mean, Jenny was literally bullied because she showed kindness to Rona when no one else would. Yet, Rona is allowing those people in her house as if nothing happened. I would be mad too if I had to witness all of that.
In my opinion, it would’ve made a better reason for her to be angry at Rona and it would’ve added a little bit of depth to the conflict.

I watched the first episode of youth of May and I liked it. The atmosphere, the costume, the actors, all of that is nice so far. However, watching this first episode and the multiple gifs from the second episode that came after it, did confirm something I thought about before the drama even aired and that is that I probably won’t like the main couple as much as some people will. They have really nice chemistry, but I’m just not a fan of fastburn at all. Also, I like when the two people involved in the ship don’t like each other (and by that, I mean that they are indifferent towards one another) at first and grow to care about one another through time, or when only one of them like the other and then we see the feelings of the oblivious one change as they spend more time with the person who’s in love with them. In other words, I like when I can see the characters’ feelings evolve. That’s obviously not what the writers are  trying to do with this drama, and I think I’m okay with that.

You know, there are a lot of things Seojin has done that are downright horrible. I’m not gonna name them here because it would make this post too long and honestly I would probably forget a few things. However, if there is one thing I’ll never judge her for, it’ll be for cheating on her husband. Ha Yoon Chul was a terrible husband to her. I love their dynamic in season 1 regardless, but still, it is what it is. I can still remember that time, in the first episode, when he humiliated her in front of their guests just for fun, and then, when they were alone, shamed her for not being an housewife like Suryeon. He never made her feel loved or at least appreciated while they were together (at least that’s what she says). And  she couldn’t get a divorce at the time, because her father had made it clear that she needed to stay married in order for her to become the new director of the school or something. So she really had no other choice but to stay with Ha Yoon chul despite the fact that they could barely stand each other. That’s why I don’t really blame her for trying to find love elsewhere while still being married. I just wished she hadn’t chosen a married man, and specifically not Joo Dantae, but it does make sense with who she is as a character, so yea...

But you know something? I almost died once. And now…I was given another opportunity. It was as though I was born again. So I want to use this opportunity to do something for others.

So you’re telling me that Suho is going to break up with Jugyeong , ghost her for two years and then come back unannounced in the hope of rekindling their romance? Is that it?

I might be in the minority, but I don’t hate love triangles. Yes sure they can be annoying  at times especially when, just like the anon said, we already know with whom the main girl is supposed to end up with, but at the same time, I think they can make the story a little bit more entertaining when for example the main ship is boring.
Sometimes, I can watch scenes between the two leads and not feel anything. When that happens, the arrival of the second lead almost  feels like a relief because he gets to create his own dynamic with the female lead, a dynamic that can be way more endearing and interesting to watch than the one she has with the male lead.Yes, that means i can end up having second lead syndrome, but that’s the thing: when it comes to romance dramas, I rather have second lead syndrome than to not care at all about the romance. At least, it means that I’m somehow invested in the story which is better than nothing. Plus, it means that I get to rant about it on my blog which, for a big complainer like me, is always a bonus.
Sorry if this is a bother but I kinda wanted to talk about this and I've been wondering if anyone else feels that way.. But every time a kdrama is released that features a very prominent love triangle, I can't help but wonder if the writers genuinly think it's entertaining to watch? Because to me it's frustrating and at times it just seems like an easy tool to cause conflict with the main couple. And since the ML will 99% get the girl it just seems pointless, no matter how much "better" the 2nd lead is (especially if the FL doesn't have any romantic feelings toward the 2nd lead)? Like I'd much rather watch the main couple develop a relationship without a second party interrupting... Also it's dissapointing when a really interesting character is stuck with an unrequited crush and pining for someone unavailable. (This isn't about any kdrama in particular, tho the gifs I've seen of True Beauty definitely inspired me to write this)
Ahhh yes, everyone’s favorite no one’s favorite K-Drama trope, The Love Triangle.
I hate love triangles. I mean I can sometimes mentally get around them, but for all of the reasons you listed we should just move forward with a different plot device. I’m trying to think of one show where I thought the love triangle added to or improved the story and I’m coming up empty.
Mostly I roll my eyes, give up, and wait for that plot element to work itself out either by: the 2nd lead finding someone else, dying, or being sad and moving to Canada or France or something. Or worse yet, the 2nd lead just seems like the much better option, which is basically my own personal torture lol.
But I will say this: I have seen mutuals who don’t mind love triangles or think they are fun? So, maybe it’s a personal preference because it is after all a Classic Trope in the romance genre and like the Wrist Grab, it’s not going anywhere.

I know it might sound dumb but how do we write the female lead’s name? Jukyung or Jugyeong ?
