after finding out a lot of friends haven't seen movies I consider formative to childhood (I grew up in South America, so they definitely had international reach!) I'm curious to know just how many haven't seen some of these... uh, let's call them children's classics.
Due to the list of potentials being massive, I'll restrict this to the 1980s, and not include Disney animated movies i can't promise there won't be further polls
(feel free to sound off in tags the ones you haven't seen, if it's more than one!)

Found my 53yo very-much-not-online father in the kitchen today meticulously arranging cutlery on the countertop and i was like 'what are you doing' and he looked up at me with the world's most shit-eating grin and said "Your mother told me this is how you rick-roll the Youth" and i looked over and it was fucking. Hey guys, just putting out a PSA because now that's THREE people I know of who've got these identical messages on Discord last night alone.
Tumblr media
If a friend messages you apologising because someone "with a similar username to you" tried to deceive them so they reported your account as hacked, and sends an image of a discord email, your friend is the one who has been hacked.
It's hard to read in the screenshot (sorry!) but it looks like the "advice" is something like "file a friend request with our CORPORATE HEAD OF SECURITY to open your case. You have 12 hours to do so or we might suspend your account."
I've been told that if you do contact that user, they try to get you to "prove" you own the account by making a "100% refundable transaction" to them. Which is so scummy.
Scammers catch people out by imposing a time limit and dramatic consequences of not acting fast enough. In that moment of panic, you might not figure out it's suspicious, especially when the email looks so real (it will have your screen-name in it to make it seem legit, but the request code will likely be identical to the one in this post, #40557035) and you're worried about both an impersonator AND losing your account.
If you get sent the above message, try to let your friend know through other ways (socials, etc) that they've been hacked. If you are ever worried, your best bet is to check Discord's website and ask for help through their support page, which has a section for hacked accounts.

ill level w y'all im a hardline "harrow isnt autistic she's just schizophrenic" truther. there's just no casual representation for ppl w psychotic disorders so it's important to me to just Let Us Have This instead of muddying the express representation w autistic headcanons (i say this as someone who is both psychotic & autistic for the record). a LOT of symptoms of psychotic disorders overlap w autism, but ppl just dont know what psychotic disorders look like. see: dislike for flavourful foods, sensory issues like bright lights or high pitched sounds, isolating behaviours, violent outbursts when overstimulated, self harm, strange posture, and so on. im glad yall r happy projecting onto blorbo but MY projection onto blorbo is leaving her w what she canonically has! ill hope that someday half this fandom will join me in accepting psychotic ppl for what we are instead of trying to tack other labels on out of seemingly ignorance. Peace and love

A couple weeks ago my roommates and I ended up (via some poor coordination) getting a large amount of groceries. I jokingly declared it a feast week and we ate to our merry contentment. And yet since then I feel things have changed… the countertops are bustling with fruits, endless supplies of fruit, the shelves full of many loaves of bread, the fridge has two whole containers of yogurt, and it feels like just about every night there’s some new pastry and meats. … I fear the logic of the feast suffuses this apartment now in a way that has become inextricable, essential, a kind of habitus. I am not sure what developments will follow.

you guys know you can get USB connectable CD, dvd, and blu-ray players right. and you can buy external hard drives with crazy amounts of space for an amount of money that would make the average person from 2009’s head explode bc of how cheap it is. and if you do this and get ripping software such as handbrake for CDs and DVDs and makeMKV for blurays you can both own a physical copy of whatever media you want and make it accessible to yourself no matter where you are. do you guys know this

At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.
You must unlearn this.
You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.
If you ever want to truly love your fellow humans, if you ever want to truly love yourself, you must have forgiveness for being annoying.
