Emily Wilde is THE neurodivergent rep queen. Her parents find her weird and off-putting. She gets to a new town and immediately offends them. She has to constantly remind herself to show empathy. She pulled a faerie king with the power of autistic rizz. Truly the representation we all deserve.

riz gukgak is the character of all time. he doesn't sleep much. he can juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time. he gets straight as. he's aroace. he is haunted by an eldritch being he supposedly made up. he's covered in tattoos. he met his dead angel dad. he loves his friends. he takes on stress for them. he's a licensed detective. he writes long walls of texts after being shown any appreciation. his friends call him the ball. he makes conspiracy boards everywhere and for everything. he's in every extracurricular club in school. he's the treasurer tho. he ate the dragon that killed his dad. he's a campaign manager for his friend even though he could be the class president himself. he brought a gun to school on his first day. he's a huge nerd. he saved the world multiple times with his friends. he's a 17 year old goblin.

[spoilers] yes lisa frankenstein is a wonderful, campy, cute good-fo-her adaptation for all the austen/shelley/bronte-loving weird girlies but what I keep thinking about is how it's also a meditation on how society doesn't want/ doesn't want to deal with female trauma (and weird girls). the way lisa's (enfuriatingly) deabeat dad barely looks at lisa but embraces taffy (who is 'successfully' a girl: happy, pretty, and not posing problems for anyone), the way those neighbours literally ignore lisa as she is chased by an intruder (who is literally a parallel to the axe murderer that killed her mom) - lisa's trauma is seen as some kind of wilful refusal to fit into the status quo and even makes her the target of further (gleeful) abuse by her stepmom (who threatens to literally lock her away for being 'weird'). and it's not just a lisa thing; the scene that struck me was taffy, covered in blood, crying, traumatised, and that stranger who looks and then ignores her. taffy as a popular girl and cheerleader and daddy's darling is always looked at favourably, alsways an object of positive attention-- right up until she has a problem. anyway and then something something about lisa finding companionship in another other and her choosing (un)death as a radical escape from and rejection of this status quo that cannot/ doesn't want to accomodate her and many more thoughts but that's all for now thank you

Endless Fantasy High

I'm tired of hearing the criticism that Lisa's goth transformation came out of nowhere. What, pray tell, does Micheal say about her poetry? What films does she stay up late watching when no one else is home? Where does she spend her free time and to whom does she read her poetry? This take is weird girl to goth girl pipeline erasure and I for one, will not stand for it! Her outward shift is only a reflection of her growing confidence in herself because she's got a friend who understands and validates her. Ugh.

the moment in lisa frankenstein where her face drops and she's like "you had a whole life" is one of my favorite moments I've seen in any teen romcom

like the brief acknowledgment of his tragedy is one thing but its also such a human moment and such a teen moment to be jolted outside of your limited point of view and see someone else as whole and entire and largely unknown to you, and you rarely see that represented at all let alone so well
