Hey mod ali here! My friend who helps me co mod @fansofcolor is struggling with rent here's her ko-fi
https://ko-fi.com/tallulahchanel/goal?g=6
Please check our her ko-fi and share if you can't help!!! She's a valuable writer in fandom and does a lot of critical work on her podcast and videos. I'd totally recommend checking out her stuff if you're looking for a black woman's perspective on media!!!
a black girl character growing her hair out long breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character having short hair
a black girl character getting to be soft and fragile breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character being strong all the time
a black girl character being protected and comforted by others breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character having no one to look out for her but herself
a black girl character being considered pretty or cute by other characters breaks more stereotypes than a black girl character being considered unattractive
not everything that is empowering for white girls is empowering for black girls
the sexism we face overlaps, but it is not the same
So tumblr staff didn't just delete 1 blog of Med's without warning (fairuzfan), they deleted 2. The first blog was helpgazachildren, which was Med's blog to campaign for donation drives for Hussam who distributes basic necessities on the ground in Ghazzah. They have consistently shown proof of acquisition and distribution of goods as results for every donation drive. There is no reason to kill this blog other than to kill the Palestinian children and adults alike that rely on it for survival. Make no mistake, the actions of this company, Tumblr, and its CEO have real life consequences for the people who use it as a lifeline for survival.
That makes up an entire section of the people trying to survive genocide in Ghazzah. And now with both of Med's blogs gone, there is no recourse.
Tumblr is going to be the reason for the death of several Palestinians. And if I'm right in suspecting they're taking my blog down next, this will happen to the groups served by both Mona, and Hussam, and the families who have contacted me through this website and are relying on my fundraising campaigns to get to safety. This is not a minor issue.
one insidious thing about terf ideology is the idea that women are worth less if they ‘mutilate their body’ (ie; remove their breasts). not only is this a fucked up thing to say to trans men and nonbinary people but it puts down women who have had mastectomies for breast cancer or any other numerous reasons. this plays into a larger theme of women only being valuable or worth anything if they conform to society’s very narrow view of what is expected from femininity and womanhood.
cis women who are naturally more masculine, cis women with adams apples, cis women with strong jaws, tall cis women and (because of patriarchal white beauty standards) black cis women are all considered ‘lesser’ from a terfs point of view.
the moment they started defining femininity by the already existing flawed societal standards, they had already failed in their so called feminist goal.
A resource to help promote inclusivity, for moodboards, headers, etc.
Given the topic of diversity in visual fanworks that’s come up, I started a Pinterest with various themes to help making finding diverse images easier. You can find it here. Please check source links and credit the creators of you decide to use. If you recognize a creator that isn’t linked, please send me their user so I can credit them below.
A few themes below:

There’s also a NERD/PREP/CHEERLEADER board and I may start a few others. There isn’t a ton up since I did this pretty quickly, but it’s a good starting point. It would be nice to find images with different types of poc as well. Let me know if you have any suggestions for what other tropes/themes to explore. I don’t have a ton of free time outside of my full-time job, so if you want to become a collaborator on any of these boards let me know!
