Phew, that took a while... So, here's the comic i promised, like, 4 months ago.
Honestly, I've wanted to draw this scene since we began developing the relationship between Cher and Raz, but never got enough free time and energy to invest into something so huge. That's why i view this comic as a personal win, because yay, i managed to gather mental resources to sit down and actually make it >:3
This scene takes place after the events of HH and depicts the second conversation between Che'Moer and Raziel, who grew to outrank him and is now a Dark Apostle. Talking proves to be somewhat difficult due to the strain in their bond: Raz is incredibly offended by Cher abandoning him after the razing and both have hard feelings about the whole situation.
Important notes:
1. Che'Moer's old name is Maz'Raek, Raziel's - Hanur'Maar.
2. Raziel speaks in black, white and grey bubbles due to him being split into two versions of himself (Hanur = white, Raz = black, both = grey). You can view it as a disorder, but it's not entirely correct.
Someone broke his face, his armour, his everything! Now he angy >:C
DP Che'Moer actually has bones inside his metal carcass, however motionless and completely useless except as a vessel for daemon's... essence? His armour serves as his actual body, allowing him to feel touch with it.
Since everything is moving towards our fellow apostle becoming a DP, I designed Raziel's future design while cozily armed with the character's owner, tea, and sandwiches :)
Of course, this is a major "what if," but knowing that the daemons can get rid of their hooman modifications... it’s very likely he’ll look like that by the end :)
Btw I'm on my way to make another comic about Cher and Raziel, but i doubt I'll manage to finish it till next year :') This one is huge compared to others and it'll definitely take much longer to make. Wish me luck :D
As for the plot...Are you ready for some drama? :3
If i was asked to portray their relationship in one pic, this would be the closest to the truth.
Che'Moer and Raziel have a father-son relationship since Cher was the one who saw an enormous potential in the kid. He personally supervised the procedure for accepting Raziel into the legion and later acted as a father figure for both him and his lil sister (all in secret from other Word Bearers).
I guess u can joke about Che'Moer having two separate families lol. Cuz he met both Aniha and Hanur (Raziel's pre-heresy name) in Monarchia almost at the same time.
Each character is insane in their own way. And one of the manifestations of Che'Moer's madness is unconditional love and devotion to his so-called son, as to the only close person he has left.
But Raziel doesn’t share the sentiment.
I wanted to make a ref for Che'Moer's cybernetics and got carried away omg. It still amuses me how badass he looks here - mah boy is a rude melancholic with depression, but he usually lacks that edgy vibe, at least for those who know him :D
As for the augmetics - Che'Moer lost his right arm before heresy due to grenade explosion (it detonated in his hand), meanwhile his left got cut off relatively recently and willingly.
You can also see a few bad scars... Well, i mentioned our party died and got revived at the beginning of our rpg, didn't i? Che'Moer has gone through it twice.
That's why he is nicknamed "Twice Returned" :)
It takes around a month of constant drawing to make a comic, so i didn't have any other content to show here :')
It was originally intended as a shitpost of sorts, a tiny funny thing involving Ch'Moer and Raikhan talking about drawing. Yet the more i worked on it, the more it started to become somewhat relevant to the plot - not literally, but like... A portrayal of Che'Moer's character at the beginning of the rpg. He's absolutely bad at expressing emotions and opening up to others which led to some unfortunate events in his past. If i want to give him a good ending (although it's not particularly a happy one, just a tiny bit less awful as far as I'm aware) he needs to learn how to talk things out.
Do your best, my guy, i believe in u :')
Che'Moer and his (dead) wife Aniha.
Strange as it sounds, the theme of love is central to Che'Moer's backstory and character.
He met Aniha on Khur and, without going into details, secretly created a family with her, even raising her son - Valar - as his own. The Word Bearers eventually uncovered this relationship and greatly disapproved of Che'Moer's actions, but his transgression was quickly forgotten when The Emperor ordered to burn Monarchia to ashes, killing both of his family members in the progress.
A silly joke partially related to the pic i drew earlier. I found it somewhat funny that our apostle - who's not great at fighting compared to other characters - is in front line.
Raziel, you're a support and a summoner, stop running headfirst into close combat!!!
