Please gods. Non-Asian systems make your alters who have Asian names in their source CHANGE their name– Asian systems (and singlets) have been very outspoken about how and why they/you cannot use them here.

i don't know if you're the best people to ask about this, but i don't follow a lot of systems on here so i'll ask anyway and if you dont know, maybe you can direct the question to someone who might.
As a fictive, how do i deal with the grief of knowing i'll never see my friends/family again? it's so overwhelming. -td
There's no one foolproof way to deal with grief. But the tactic we've found that works best for us is to sit with our grief and just let ourselves feel it for a time. Acknowledge it exists, let yourself feel sad, and then go do something you enjoy that doesn't require a lot of energy but will take your mind off it. Give yourself breaks to feel what you need to feel. Don't push it to the side; that tends to make it worse in the long run. By giving yourself time to acknowledge and sit with your grief, you're giving yourself time to process and accept it.
We like to do this while listening to music, but it's kind of random when we'll feel grief for something or someone, so we don't really have a "bad times playlist" or anything – just whatever song we were listening to, so long as it's not drastically clashing with our mood. Incidentally, it's a good way to make sure you don't wallow for too long – a play or two of a song is usually long enough for us, but your mileage may vary.
For grieving people specifically, it's important to us that we take what reminds us of them and give it a positive context – for example, if we're missing a person, and piano music reminds us of them, it's important that we train our brain to not associate it with overwhelming grief (thus making it somewhat of a trigger for grief when we hear it), and so we try things like listening to it in the background when doodling, or seeking out really good performances and thinking of how that person would enjoy the music, and want us to enjoy it, too. It's a matter of trying not to let your emotions get the best of you, while also not trying to strong-arm them into disappearing (because emotions are stubborn like that and will hit you back with a vengeance).
Hope this helps, td. I wish you the best in your mourning.

hi do you have any resources or advice for an introject missing their sourcemates?
Hello - unfortunately, we couldn’t find many resources for introjects when it comes to specifically missing sourcemates. Our apologies.
We have members of our own system who really struggle with this. Losing sourcemates can feel like losing beloved friends and family, especially if you have strong exomemories regarding your source.
Some accounts might do source calls? We aren’t so interested in that sort of thing, but you might be able to find community in sourcemates from other systems. If you’re interested in putting out a source call, @sourcecall-central seems to be an active blog that does that sort of thing. We’re not sure about any others, though.
As far as advice for coping with those painful feelings and memories… we definitely do not have all the answers, but we can share what has worked for our parts in the past.
For us, reassuring each other, allowing ourselves to feel our emotions, to grieve, to mourn, has all been quite useful. Our introjects with strong ties to their sources are encouraged to cry, to fume, to express themselves. They journal, they write angsty poetry and draw vent art, they talk to our therapist, spouse, other members of our system, and generally reach out for support when they need it. We’re still learning how to be there for each other, and this is one way in which we accomplish that.
We try to remind each other that there are no wrong emotions. It’s okay to miss sourcemates, to long for how things used to be. But it’s also important to remember that things change, and hope and a happy life are still possible and attainable now, in this life, outside of our sources. Remembering and honoring the past does not mean we are doomed to always feel stuck in it. And processing our emotions in healthy ways can be beneficial for coping with the loss of people, places, and good times from our sources.
We hope this is useful, although it’s not comprehensive and really is just our system’s experience with this sort of thing. If anyone reads this and has any further advice or resources, you are more than welcome to share. We could benefit from those sorts of resources as well.

Here’s some positivity for two-spirit systems and headmates!
Two-spirit systems and headmates have a vital and essential place both in the plural and queer communities. In a world where violence against both trans and indigenous people is commonplace, now more than ever we must show unwavering devotion and support to the two-spirit people in our spaces. Each indigenous community is different, and two-spirit people may hold diverse views and beliefs about what their two-spirit identities mean to them. Regardless of how you view yourself, your gender, and your relationships to your people and your two-spirit identity, this post goes out to all you two-spirit headmates and systems!
🌈 Shoutout to systems who are reconnecting with their identities as indigenous or two-spirit!
πŸͺΆ Shoutout to two-spirit systems who fulfill sacred roles, duties, rituals, and ceremonies in their communities!
πŸ’• Shoutout to individual two-spirit headmates in indigenous, non two-spirit systems!
🌈 Shoutout to indigenous systems who are questioning whether or not they are two-spirit!
πŸͺΆ Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are activists, organizers, or spread awareness about indigenous and two-spirit identities!
πŸ’• Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are artists, musicians, writers, or creators who explore their identities in their creative works!
🌈 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are both Mothers and Fathers, and who embody both maternal and paternal or masculine and feminine energies!
πŸͺΆ Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are genderless or who exist outside of any gender binary!
πŸ’• Shoutout to two-spirit systems who long to take over sacred roles in their community, but are nervous about starting or don’t know where to begin!
🌈 Shoutout to disabled two-spirit systems - you are a crucial and vital part of the communities you belong to!
πŸͺΆ Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are closeted or unable to come out as two-spirit currently for their own comfort safety!
πŸ’• Shoutout to two-spirit systems who take great pride in their identities as plural, indigenous, and two-spirit!
We hope that all two-spirit systems and headmates can have a lovely day today! Please try to take it easy and show yourself and your system some gentleness and compassion today. Remember that you are such a valued and cherished member of the plural community and the queer community as well! We really appreciate your perspectives and are honored to be able to share this space with you.
Two-spirit systems! If you read this and have a way for others to support you (through art, creative content, donations, a shop, PayPal/Cashapp/Venmo/Kofi, literally anything at all!) please send us your posts so we can reblog/boost here! To our non-indigenous followers, show some love and support to the two-spirit systems in our spaces today, if you have the means and ability to do so!
As always, thank you so much for reading! Please take care of yourselves and your system, and have a wonderful day!

This might get be shot in the foot but can someone explain the argument that alters can only have names that match the body's ethnicity/culture/country of origin to me like I'm 3? I just. Don't get it. One of our core values is to be a forever student, so we are more than willing to learn and adjust here if we're wrong, but with the information we have this argument doesn't make sense to us.
I just don't see how a name is cultural appropriation. I definitely agree that like claiming that an alter in a white body is literally another race is appropriative, disrespectful, and flat out racist. No matter how you appear in headspace or how many pseudo memories you have, you will never experience that actuality of being that race. Claiming the experiences of minorities is obviously shitty.
I don't see how simply having a name from another culture is the same though. Just having a name is not equal to claiming that you are actually X ethnicity when you're not. As long as alters acknowledge that they are not a different race than the body and don't claim to be, what is the harm in letting them have the names that they have?
I just saw someone who was told that it didn't matter that their anime alter with a Japanese name already acknowledged that they aren't and never will be Japanese and that it didn't matter that that alter was strongly attached to their name and distressed by being forced to change their name. They were told they had to force the alter to change their name and that the alter would just get used to it.
It just.... Seems cruel to forcibly take people's names from them to me.
Also. What about singlets who were given names that aren't from their race/culture/country/ethnicity. Are they culturally appropriating just by having those names they didn't choose to have? Would the argument be that they HAVE to change their names when they're old enough to?
I still come back to forcibly taking people's names just seems cruel to me.
Names are big parts of our identities, whether they're chosen, given, or inherited from a source. I just don't think people should be forced to part with such a big part of themselves unless it's their choice to find a name they love for themselves more.
So. What am I missing from the other side of the argument? What makes having names from other cultures appropriation? How is someone having a name causing harm? I would genuinely love if someone could break it down for me, because I just don't understand and if I'm lacking perspective, I'd love to gain it.
