Yo!! Selfshippers!! Dunno who exactly needs to hear this, but IT IS IMPORTANT!

Just cuz you call yourself a selfshipper and are a part of this community, DOESNT MEAN you have to always push out content (art, writing etc) of your selfship and interact with other selfshippers. It can be a bit of burden sometimes. PLEASE never feel pressured to.

Of course, interacting with other selfshippers is awesome! But you don't *have* to. Allow yourself to just vibe with your f/os on your own, in your own space, you NEVER have to prove your love for them & their love for you to ANYBODY ELSE!!!

You are a part of the selfship community no matter how active you are in it, you don't have to make it known to everybody.

And most importantly, your selfship will always always be unconditionally valid. Your f/os love you a lot. No matter what. :)

It's fine if you don't like kissing or hugging, your f/o would respect that. It's okay if you don't do PDA, your f/o is fine with that. Your f/o would never push your boundaries or try and change you.

fine if nobody else will say it i will. selfships where you replace/ignore/remove the "canon" love interest entirely is cool and all and great but also so are selfships where you dont. selfships that take place before or after an established canon relationship, selfships where you acknowledge and talk about past relationships, where you can build off of what canon has given you and interweave your ship into preexisting lore and conceptions about your f/o and the way they handle relationships and breakups or divorce or death and grieving over a lost lover.

and im not saying the "i pretend i do not see" route is like less valid btw but im just saying i dont think people consider or at the very least talk about "canon love interest exists and happens and so do i" nearly enough is all. i think some of the best storytelling potential comes from "where do they go from here" after a relationship is all and shoutout to every shipper that does build their selfship that way, like shoutout to all the shippers whose ships are "she left his ass and im picking up the pieces"

Maybe you're in an anxious situation and you need to feel grounded, or maybe you're experiencing overwhelming emotions that remind you of past times that hurt you and you need that reassurance. Regardless, they'll wholeheartedly support you and help you however you may need.
