So these days Seph was learning how to play video games, it was interesting but he never really got into it. Thankfully Phil was able to talk him through the basics. “Does this really give you the tools you need to win?” he examined a controller only to look up at Phil to help put the pieces together.
phil tried not to fidget in place as he helped seph get a handle on the game mechanics. he was excited to play with someone new, of course, but he’d never had to teach anyone the basics before and it was making him nervous. ❝ sort of? i didn’t want to start with anything too hard, but i think we should focus on getting the hang of the controls before we start getting too fancy with the options. have you ever played... any games before? ❞

so. he’s a loser
he spends a lot of time by himself --- not on purpose, but because he’s just a very quiet guy. making friends is hard
loves chilling out in the library to read about conspiracy theories & play video games in peace
if he’s not in the library though he’s definitely hanging out with charla & drew. sometimes it’s shenanigans, sometimes they just chill
works as a training assistant on training grounds #2 specifically to make sure drew & charla don’t kill anyone
also got very good at using his power for their sake. carries around a small backpack to pull weapons out of when he summons them, but the bag is not necessary. it’s just for effect lol
endures the terrifying ordeal of being perceived in exchange for the reward of being loved. it’s an ongoing process
kind of a crybaby? he’s sensitive okay.
a little obsessed with dragons for no discernible reason
if anxiety had a human form, they would look like phil
overcame his anxiety, however, to get a driver’s license just so could try to convince charla not to drive. it’s a losing battle.

alright so after her last fight, rosie is just. pissed.
she’s at least upfront about it --- she lets ilsung know that, listen, she’s pretty mad so she’s gonna have to kick his ass. no hard feelings.
fortunately, he doesn’t hold it against her & even seems to look forward to the fight
ilsung puts up a better fight than she expects & rosie starts enjoying herself until she tries to use her powers
nothing works like she wants it to & while she tries not to panic, she does manage to lose the upper hand
the true turning point is when rosie realizes that at some point while they were exchanging blows in close combat, her hair stopped being a fried mess & falls in neat, wavy tresses like she just walked out of a salon
neither know ilsung’s power fixed her hair, but rosie’s sheer confusion is enough shock that he gets a few good hits in
frustrated that things aren’t going her way, she lets her anger fuel her as she grabs him & slams him bodily to the ground
ilsung then gets back up, says, “ that didn’t hurt ”, & passes out
rosie wins another fight & ilsung is glad he at least lost to a friend

they’re not enemies or anything, they’re just... mutually bitchy? why do they both have to have the last word is it that serious
ANYWAY. things start off in thorn’s favor:
he always brings at least one dagger & made sure to charge it to throw at rosie
he tries to get her with some zippity zaps, & while some miss, he manages to use the conductivity of all the water she uses to find a direct path to her
she ends up with fried hair lol
after that she pulls them into close combat & it’s very intense --- at this distance, rosie gets a few good kicks in
thorn starts to dodge & tries to zap her again but she see’s it coming so she debuts the bloodbending she’s been working on & succeeds in getting him to shock himself instead. now he has fried hair too.
rosie vc: we’re both going down lookin’ like absolute fools
pleased to see that work, even with all the effort it takes, she makes him zap himself a few more times before he’s just. done.
rosie wins, thorn gets eliminated, & he’s off to fix his hair
thorn vc: have fun going through the other rounds with that hair. hope levi sees how dumb you look!!

to start off, phil immediately moved to summon a weapon from his dora backpack
but since he wanted to be fair, he stopped to ask jae what kind of weapon he’d like
he was super grateful and picked a sword to keep it simple
keeping things on an even playing field, it was a pretty straightforward match from that point
phil held out for a while, but jae is just the stronger fighter overall!
personally, phil is glad to be out of the fighting
& now going into the second round, jae has a sword :)
