How to Do a Sea Trial for Used Motorboats
Tumblr media
So, you’ve finally bought that used Stacer boat for sale from its owner that you’ve been promising to buy for yourself. But before you seal the deal and let the owner hand the boat to you, you might want to organise a sea trial first.  A sea trial is sort of a test run, to make sure everything works as it should. Most marine surveyors (the guys who will check the boat in every nook and cranny to make sure the boat is in good condition) will suggest carrying a sea trial out. However, surveyors can give you additional costs, on top of the boat and its accessories and equipment you’re buying, so it makes sense that you may not want to get a surveyor. After all, not all boaters want to employ a surveyor.
If you don’t want a surveyor inspecting and tinkering with your soon-to-be boat, all these responsibilities will lie to you. In this article, we will discuss a list of things you need to do to check the boat inside and out, including how to do a sea trial. Even if you do end up hiring a surveyor, being able to spot some of these issues will allow you to highlight them to the expert and ask for their opinion. Even the best engineer can miss a detail or two.
Here are the things you need to do (do them in order):
Before You Take Out the Boat at Sea…
If it’s possible, arrange the sea trial on a day with average conditions, when there is a breezy wind. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cloudy day or a sunny day, as long as there is little wind, it’s fine. Ask the owner to take out the boat on the water for at least a couple of hours. This way, you’ll be able to see the boat perform in real-life conditions. Any boat can do well on a calm day.
Ask the owner to use the boat in the same way you’ll be using it, if possible. For example, if you’re intending to use the boat for water skiing, then you need to take out the boat to do that activity so take a friend water skiing.
Before using the boat, note down performance targets for the boat or the engine, so you can test them on the day under various loads and in different situations. You can approach your fellow boater friends and ask for their help to show you how a well-maintained boat should perform first or ask them to accompany you during a sea trial.
Bear in mind that most sea trials happen on a nearly empty boat since the owner took most of the gear off and the tanks are low on fuel. If they are available, take your family or friends with you to add some weight to the boat day. The performance of the boat will be less efficient once you have fuel, gear, and passengers on board.
Now that You’re on Sea Trial, You’ll Need to Do the Following:
Check the Performance of the Boat and the Engine
Make sure the alarm engine works. Record the boat engine hours before and after the trial to test the meter. Turn on the engine from its cold setting so you can see any problems. Check the engine trim and ask the owner to adjust it, if needed.
Ask the owner nicely to let you drive the boat. Chances are they will let you do this so you don’t need to do a lot of convincing. Once you’re operating it, it’s time to take out your list of performance targets and start comparing the boat’s performance. See how comfortable it is to cross waves at varying speeds. Use your ears and listen for any unusual vibrations and sounds. Check that all instruments in the boat work while underway. And don’t forget to keep a close eye on the engine’s temperature and oil levels.
Check the Overall Look of the Boat
You will also want to get a good feel for the boat. Notice how you sit when underway; do you need to brace yourself a lot or you can just sit back and relax? Can you easily reach the floor with your feet or do you need to feel your toes on the floor? Are the seats comfortable to sit on? Check if the storage available is enough for your needs and if there are enough handholds around the boat.
When you get back to the dock, take a final good look at everything. Inspect doors, lockers, and hatches. Do they open and close correctly? Smell the various compartments to verify any leaks. Look for scratches, cracks, or chips. Check if there is water in the bilge. Test all the gear on board.
A sea trial won’t reveal all the secrets of a vessel, but it can highlight some major problems, which in turn helps you avoid making a big, expensive mistake. Don’t skip this crucial step in the boat-buying process.
You can’t expect a used boat to look and feel like a new one, though. Account for some fixable issues to come up sooner or later. Minor problems won’t have a significant impact on the price of the vessel, so try not to get too caught up in the details.

An Overview of Deep Sea Fishing
Tumblr media
Deep sea or offshore fishing involves fishing out on the open ocean, far from shore where weather conditions and navigational charts should be carefully monitored and evaluated to ensure a safe trip. The deep sea can be dangerous at times because the weather can get extreme in the ocean and assistance during emergency situations will take some time to arrive.
Big ships and fishing boats are usually the water vessels one can find in the ocean because this is where you can catch various fish species and sometimes, as with the case of cruise ships, coast along these waters to get from one place to another.
What is Deep Sea Fishing?
Knowing what exactly counts as deep-sea fishing can be pretty confusing, especially for novice anglers. For many sport fishers, it tends to be synonymous with sport fishing or big game fishing.
The term is also sometimes used interchangeably with the term offshore fishing as well. Now the question lies, are they the same thing? Well, in a sense, not technically. The main difference between the two terms is the depths of the water anglers will be fishing in. Offshore describes the distance from land, while deep sea refers to the distance from the seafloor. Also, when talking about deep sea fishing, generally takes place in open blue waters with no visible shoreline with the water reaching more than 100 feet below. These fishing grounds often hold structures such as reefs, wrecks, and oil rigs, which big fish like to swarm around.
Tackle for Deep Sea Fishing
Due to the number of deep-sea game fish species and fishing techniques for catching them, there are many different types of deep-sea fishing rods, tackles, and gears that can be used. Offshore fishing may include trolling with deep sea lures or live baits, jigging with lures, or bottom fishing with baits. The usual tackles used in deep sea fishing include a large bait caster reel with high line capacity, 20-pound and above monofilament lines and leader lines, live baits, and big hooks. You’re also going to need boating equipment as well such as a fish finder and depth finder.
What Fish Species Will I be Targeting?
For many anglers, deep-sea fishing is all about big game species. These are large saltwater fish that are aggressive and fight hard when hooked at the end of a line. The main aim of targeting them is purely recreational and to feel the adrenaline rush that comes with battling a deep sea creature. Deep sea fishing can also mean plumbing the depths of the ocean for bottom fish, as well as testing your skills against brutish reef fish.
Here’s a brief rundown of some of the most popular targets:
Billfish: This is one of the most popular deep-sea fish species around. This family of fish can be found scattered around the deep ocean waters all across the world. They’re the ultimate target for ambitious sport anglers, thanks to their iconic appearance and tough-fighting spirit.
Tuna:  When it comes to deep-sea fishing for Tuna, it’s really all about Yellowfins and Bluefins. Bluefins can grow up to big sizes and are prone to aggressive deep dives. Yellowfin are pound for pound, some of the strongest fighters in the ocean. They’re also seriously tasty.
Sharks. These toothy predators are notorious around the globe but tend to get overlooked when it comes to deep-sea fishing. This is due to the strict rules and regulations around them.
Reef species: Amberjack, cobia, barracuda… these are just some examples of fish species you can find swimming around in reefs. They are also excellent fish to catch and can put up a good fight.
Snappers: These are great to catch because they are tasty not to mention you can catch a school of these species during the peak fishing season.
Fishing Techniques to Do in Deep Sea
Trolling
This is the go-to deep-sea fishing technique for big game species such as Billfish and Tunas. Trolling essentially involves dragging hooked lures or bait through your chosen fishery using a moving boat. Depending on the vessel you’re fishing from, you’ll typically set up anywhere from two to six rods, which means you’ll be trolling at least two to six lines, usually weighted. This allows you to cover plenty of ground and, crucially, to target different water depths.
Bottom Fishing
If you want to target big delicious fish that lurk around deep water reefs and wrecks, bottom fishing is the way to go. Bottom fishing usually takes place when your boat is anchored or drifting over spots where fish are known to lurk. It’s a versatile technique that is basically all about getting your lure or bait close to the sea floor or even right on top of it, then waiting for the fish to bite.
Deep Dropping
Deep dropping is pretty much exactly what it sounds like – dropping baits very, very deep! You’ll use this technique in waters at least 300 feet deep, where you’ll encounter deep-sea species such as swordfish.

Wax On, Wax Off: Tips on How to Make Your Boat Always Looks Polished and Brand New
Tumblr media
If you are lucky enough to be the owner of a beautiful boat, like, say a Crossfire boat from Stacer, or an impressive cabin cruiser yacht, you want your boat to gleam and look brand new all the time. Nobody would fawn over a drab-looking boat, and anyway, if you don’t keep your boat in tip-top shape, it’ll be prone to get damaged faster than you can say starboard. Part of being a responsible boater is to ensure that your boat should look new and shiny always.
Boats are often exposed to harsh and extreme conditions such as weather changes, rough waves, water quality, and scratches and bumps from docking or running the boat aground. Boats have gel coat that serves as protection, and they could strip away if you don’t apply a protective wax to maintain their shine. Just like your car, you need to wax your boat regularly to maintain its shine.
If you’re a first-timer, waxing a boat may seem a daunting task, especially if you’re going to do it alone. However, don’t let your inhibition keep you from achieving this, here is a short tutorial on how to wax a boat:
Remove the Boat from The Water
Make sure your boat is out of the water by loading it onto the trailer. It’s important to wax them out of the water since you have to dry them out before they’ll be exposed to the water. If trailering a boat is a breezy task for you, it’ll only take 10 to 15 minutes to do this.
Clean The Boat
Once your boat is safely on land, transport it to an area where you can rinse off your boat. Wash it with warm water and scrub it with a brush and soap suited for boats. You can use a detergent to help you save money since they are cheap. This will effectively remove all the dirt, grime, sludge, debris, stains, and moulds sticking to your boat. Rinse off the soap residue and let the boat dry off completely.
It’s important to wash a boat before waxing it because it ensures a high gloss finish, and it is easier to wax since all the contaminants on the boat are removed.
Buff Boat Wax into Boat Exterior Surfaces
Now it’s time to wax on, wax off your boat. First, get your marine-grade wax and apply it on your boat’s exterior. Just like how Mr Miyagi has taught Daniel, apply it in a clockwise motion. Make sure to cover the hull, transom, bow, and engine case surface. After applying the wax, use a buffing pad or a polisher to buff the wax on the exterior’s surface. Make sure to buff the boat in sections and don’t stop until the exterior surface is gleaming and all the scuff marks from the wax have been removed. Depending on the size of your boat, this will take about 30 minutes to do.
Buff Boat Wax into Boat Interior Surfaces
Next is to move on to the interior parts. Do the same procedure with the exterior surface except using a specific wax suitable for the interior surface.
Wipe Away Excess Wax from Boat Surfaces
Use a soft towel to wipe away any excess wax build-up from around the boat’s exterior and interior that you missed while buffing. Wipe off any scuff marks as well to ensure an even-looking finish without any weird patches. And anyway, finishing this will totally enhance the overall elegant look of your boat.
Before you wax your boat, it’s important to use the right products designed for boats. Make sure they don’t destroy your boat’s exterior appearance. However, some car waxes are suitable for boats as well, so you don’t need to necessarily look for marine shops to buy a boat wax (unless of course, you want to use a high-quality boat wax because you want to use a specific brand for your boat, then do so).
Boats are usually waxed at least twice a year; however, if you often use your boat and take it on trips to the ocean for long periods, then you may need to wax your boat more often.
The great thing about regularly boxing your boat is that it is easier to clean and lets you inspect your boat more closely; you can check if there are any cracks or damages and noticing them right away will let you fix them right away before they can get worse.

Benefits of Living in a Boat
Tumblr media
Fewer Chores
Stacer Boat owners who live in their fishing boats, whether permanently or temporarily, can benefit from having fewer housekeeping responsibilities. In standard modern houses, homeowners have an array of rooms to clean, and they most likely need to be cleaned several times a day. For instance, a homeowner and his fellow residents may partake in their meals three times per day, as is the regular amount. Homeowners must also clean their kitchens and dining rooms three times a day, not counting the accidental messes made by human error, such as broken plates or spilt food.
The exteriors of houses must be cleaned as well. For instance, lawns must be thoroughly mowed to keep the height of their grasses and plants at satisfactory levels to prevent the inhabitation of snakes, insects and other pests. Courtyards, driveways and pavers must be cleaned of accumulated debris to ensure safe resident and vehicular traffics.
The number of chores that homeowners do on a weekly basis constitutes a host of responsibilities that may be, in and of itself, full-time employment. The responsibilities only increase proportionately to the size of one’s house and the number of residences. Small houses with limited inhabitants may fare better in the way of chores and housekeeping responsibilities, but the cleaning duties involved may still amount to more than what is needed to keep a boat’s cabin clean.
Unlike the modern house structures regularly seen in suburbs, ships may only contain three main rooms that a boat owner must clean on a daily basis – the deck, cabin and bathroom. The deck is the broad exterior of the ship where passengers stand, socialize and lounge around. Boat decks may contain a broad empty space lined with chairs and tables. In some Stacer boats, the deck may house the steering wheel where the boat is commandeered.
The cabin is where the boat owner and his passengers sleep. It may constitute a bed, chairs and tables, and other furniture that the boat owner may want for his sleeping chamber. Cabins may be cleaned by mopping and sweeping aside from the regular changes in bedsheets and pillowcases.
 Quiet Environment
A fishing boat owner may choose to cruise far away from the shore while still being within safe distance for rescue in case of an urgent situation. When positioned far away from bustling cities and marinas, boat owners can enjoy the silence of the sea or whatever body of water they wish to indulge.
 Mobility
Boat owners who live in their boats have the ability to move to any place that they wish. If they wish to move away from a loud marina, they may sail far away into the sea and enjoy the silence there. If they wish for a different view from their deck, they may cruise to another spot in the waterbody they frequent and enjoy the sights from there.

Stay Safe During High-Speed Cruises with these Reminders
Tumblr media
Cruising out on a fishing boat is one of the popular activities in Australia. The country is abundant with lush and lively bodies of water such as coastlines, reefs, rivers, and lakes. The healthy settings of these marine environments beckon to people who love the water, and explorers who want to be with nature. Boat owners are called to launch out from their boat trailers and cruise along the currents of these lush and lively environments.
Having an Stacer boat allows lovers of the water to engage in many activities in lakes, offshore spots, and other aquatic spots. For instance, outlaw boat owners can enjoy wild and dynamic activities such as wakeboarding, skiing, and paragliding. These thrilling dynamic activities allow boat owners and their passengers to perform physical speeds at high speeds, and the experiences are sure to satisfy their daredevil urges. Offshore spots are perfect for these activities as the sea is a vast and endless space where boat owners and watersports enjoyers can unleash their enjoyment without worrying about traffic or obstacles.
Meanwhile, boat owners who prefer peaceful activities can take their adventures to inland bodies. The settings of lakes, rivers, and ponds are calmer and perfect for relaxation. Boat owners can go fishing in these calm waters and drift along the waves while they connect with their families and friends. They can perform watersports in rivers and lakes as well, but boaters need to watch out for obstacles and debris such as fallen trees and other boaters.
Boaters love to perform high-speed physical feats once in a while, whether they’re certified speed devils or simply testing out how fast their new outboard engines can go. Either way, all boaters need to travel at high speeds at least once in their boating lives. While speeding can be dangerous, there are ways to make it safer.
When engaging in water sports, boaters need to perform at high speed to make the activity enjoyable. While going at high speeds can be enjoyable in itself, the act of speeding can be dangerous. Here are some ways to make it safer.
 Only Go at Comfortable Speeds
When boaters engage in watersports, it is understandable that they need to drive their boats at high speeds. The perception of speed varies among boaters. This principle is dependent on the personality of different boaters. For instance, a certain speed may be too fast for one boat driver, while too slow for another person. Fishing boat drivers need to find the best speed that meets the fine line between watersports enjoyment and what’s comfortable for them.
 Never Drive Under Influence
Alcohol and other related substances can greatly impair the coordination and judgment of vehicle operators. It is never acceptable to operate a car or truck when under the influence of substances, and this principle also holds true for boat drivers.
Slow Down in Crowded Waters
Boats do not stop in the same motion as cars. Instead of coming to a halt, boats gradually decelerate before coming to a full stop. Boat drivers need to keep this principle in mind before they drive at high speeds. They need to estimate the distance between themselves and an obstacle so they can determine the right moment to apply their brakes.

A Short Guide to Moonlight Fishing for Novice Boaters
Tumblr media
There are many boats for sale in Australia, and this has led to a boom in the boating community. Because of this, Australia’s water can become crowded with fishing vessels, swimmers, and anglers. On the weekends and holidays, it can get especially hard to find a spot on the beach. Even finding a fishing spot along the shoreline can be tough work.
For many anglers and boaters who simply want a relaxing fishing session, it can get frustrating to get sent packing home after all the spots are full. This is why some of them tend to fish at night when it’s less crowded and more peaceful. However, it can be hard to fish at night. Different techniques, tackles, and baits are required for moonlight fishing. Plus, more equipment is required. This is especially true for boating anglers who need to take more safety precautions when they ride their fishing boat at night.
Fishing at night is difficult, but not impossible. In fact, some people prefer to fish at night because it’s calm and peaceful. It can be cathartic to hear crickets chirp and waves crashing along the shore. Combine this with the cold breeze and quiet night, the effects can be therapeutic. Fishing at night just requires more planning.
Let’s dive in and take a look at some tips for moonlight fishing.
Get There Early
Set up when there’s still light out. Launch your boat when you can still see your surroundings so you don’t accidentally damage it. Don’t try to launch your boat at night, as there might be rocks in the shallows that can damage your boat. Remember that it’s crucial to keep your boat safe.
Rig your fishing gear early. Ensure that your reel is already attached to your line, and your hook tied with a secured knot. Don’t try to set up at night. Otherwise, you’ll be fumbling for your equipment and end up losing some items or hurting yourself.
Scan your surroundings and map out your path ahead of time. Make sure not to lose your way home.
Be Prepared
Bring a flashlight and some extra batteries with you.
Come with more than one set of fishing gear so you don’t have to keep setting up. Replace your fishing gear with another one when it’s out of commission for the night.
Make sure your boat is equipped with lights. You can head to your nearest boating centre and have some installed. They have everything any boater needs, such as fishing equipment, boat accessories, and fishing boats for sale.
Fishing At Night
When you’re fishing at night, try to go for slow-moving lures such as plastic worms. Fish can see them easily and will be enticed to bite them.
When you’re fishing in murky water at night, go for fast-moving, dynamic baits. For instance, spinnerbaits will attract fish because of their erratic motion that imitates struggling prey.
If the night is quiet and the water is calm, try to go for noisy baits. A noisy topwater lure can work fine.
If you’re looking for fishing boats for sale in Australia, your best bet is the Stacer aluminium boats. They’re reliable, affordable, and sturdy. Made perfectly for harsh Australian environments, they’ll stand strong through strong winds, rough raves, and blazing heat. Head to your boating center for any Stacer boats for sale.

Warm Clothes for a Cold Day Fishing
Tumblr media
Heading out on our fishing boat on a cold day can be uncomfortable. But if we love boating and fishing, a little drop in temperature’s not gonna stop us. Blazing heat and shivering cold are not reasons for us to hang our captain’s hat and put up our fishing boats for sale. But it’s still wise to prepare. No need to suffer miserably and shiver under the cold without the proper equipment.
Boating centres and marine services usually have everything you need from boats for sale to fishing equipment. If you’re planning to head out to fish on a cold day, make sure to stop by your nearest marine services center. They might have things you need for a cold fishing day. You might even find some affordable boats for sale or rent.
Fishing in seasons such as Autumn can give us a new experience. The scenery is completely different from fishing in the spring and summer. It’s as if someone saturated the world in new colors. It offers a calm sight for a relaxing fishing session. However, fishing in the cold without the right equipment can get us sick. While the breeze is cold enough to make us shiver, it’s amplified by the temperature of the water. Even sticking our hands into the water can induce a gasp response.
Let’s take a look at the different equipment we can prepare for fishing in the cold.
Insulated Clothes
The popular choice for cold weather is 4-layered clothes. This is usually a set of clothes that composes of a long undergarment, mid-layers made of wool or silk, a thick insulation layer, and an outer shell.
This set of clothes provide the best amount of protection from the cold while keeping your skin dry.
Make sure that your clothes are fitted tightly around your body. But wear anything too tight.
Wool and silk clothes are the best material for cold environments. Wool is the best natural fiber to wear in cold weather because they have strong insulation. Wool clothes fight well against heat even when they’re wet. They also have the added benefit of being naturally odor-resistant, and being able to suck up moisture from sweat. Silk has the same effect as wool but is not as durable.
Try not to wear cotton. It gets wet easily from sweat and moisture.
Thermal Blanket
This is a safety material that’s usually part of a first-aid kit. It is used to fight against cold during emergencies. When someone has fallen overboard, wipe them off with a clean towel, and wrap them with a thermal blanket as head to shore.
Headgear
Your head and ears can get cold easily. Wear a hat and earmuffs to keep them warm. A beanie works well in protecting both your head and ears from the cold.
Insulated Fishing Gloves
Keep your hand dry and warm with waterproof gloves made to resist heat. When you’re fishing, your hands are bound to get wet from handling fish.
Fishing and boating have become popular hobbies in Australia. Naturally, the popularity of fishing boats for sale has increased as well. Affordable boats for sale are available in many boating centres across the country. Make sure to get an aluminium boat that suits you.

Sightseeing to Soothe the Soul
Tumblr media
Many people prefer different places for their vacations and getaways. But many of us prefer to spend our free time close to nature where we can be close to trees, lakes, rivers, forests, and grassy fields. There’s not much we can do in places like these, but we just love looking at them and being close to them. This is because humans are naturally drawn to nature. Our bodies naturally find quiet, peaceful areas fields with greenery and water attractive. This is why many of us take walks around parks during our free time, whether it’s on our vacation or we just simply catch a break from our work.
For people who own boats, whether they be motorboats or fishing boats, the best vacation would be travelling through different bodies of water and experiencing the closeness with nature. Whether they’re just cruising around and exploring, or fishing, many passionate boaters won’t deny that the water offers plenty of peace to their souls.
Many people tend to fish or do watersports on their fishing boats during their vacations and boating getaways. However, some people don’t know how to fish and are not interested in learning at the time. They might even want to relax instead of doing exciting watersports such as wakeboarding, skiing, and paragliding. If you’re one of these people, that’s okay! If you tagged along with a friend’s boating trip, but don’t know how to fish, there are still many ways you can enjoy the water.
There’s a popular activity you can do when you’re in the water. And the best part of it is it doesn’t require any gear, skill, or energy. You simply need an eye for beauty and a love for nature. And it’s an activity we all enjoy once in a while – Sightseeing.
Dive and look down, and you’ll see a city of wonders. This means the corals that you can see at the bottom of the sea. You don’t need to dive far to see them. Some corals lay shallow enough that you call simply strap on a lifejacket, put your head in the water, and look down. Make sure to wear goggles when you do it, so you don’t hurt your eyes.
Underwater corals usually come in colourful, closely packed colonies, and they provide homes for marine species. Corals that are packed tightly together can form a city-like colony that seem almost extraterrestrial.
When you see a colourful jungle of stone with fish in different shades of blue, yellow, black, and green moving around, you’ve just spotted a healthy coral reef! Congratulate yourself and feast your eyes on the wonder you’ve discovered underwater – a thriving ecosystem. The variations of colours from fish and corals, and the marine species healthily going about their business, are something that you don’t see every day on land.
If you want to take a breather, come out of the water and take hold of the boat railings. After that, gaze out as far as you can. No matter where you look, there’s nothing but clear, empty waters and the breathtaking horizon. Gazing at the sky and the sea can be a good way to relax, so make sure you brought with you a comfortable chair as you breathe in the fresh breeze and the scent of seawater. If you’d like, you can even bring a pair of headphones with you so you can listen to some relaxing music as you gaze outside.
If you’re need a boat for sale for your sightseeing trips in Australia’s lively waters, you should get yourself a Quintrex aluminium boat. Quintrex is a brand of aluminium fishing boats for sale that features the latest developments in aluminium technology. Their fishing boats for sale are sturdy, reliable in strong ocean waves, and fuel-efficient. For the best boats for sale in Australia, Quintrex is your best choice.

Pros of Aluminium Hull Boats
Tumblr media
Cruising into Australia’s lush and lively waters is one of the most relaxing activities boat owners can do. Boating trips can be peaceful, reflective soul-searching trips when done alone. When done with family, cruising is a wholesome and memorable bonding trip, and an ideal way to connect and spend time with loved ones.
The possibilities for adventure and thrill are endless when you’re cruising through the country’s lush and lively waters. For instance, you could go on fishing trips with your friends and family. Modern tinnies are spacious enough to fit several passengers and their fishing equipment. Casting out fishing lines in the middle of the quiet sea is a good way to spend time and connect with your friends and family members. While waiting for a fish to bite your bait, you could sit in your boat, tell stories, and bond with people close to you.
On the other hand, if you, your friends, and your family members consider yourselves thrill-seekers and adventurers, you could go for wild, dynamic adventures through watersports such as wakeboarding, skiing, and paragliding. You could play around in the water and have fun while performing high-speed activities. Just remember to have a lifejacket on, and that your watersport gears are up to date.
Many boaters agree that the best vessels for your cruise are fast, sturdy motorboats that can withstand the harsh waves of Australia’s open seas. There are two standard variants of motorboats in Australia – fibreglass and aluminium motorboats.
Members of the boating community are divided between the superiority of fibreglass and aluminium tinnies. Many argue that fibreglass is superior because its weight allows it to displace water more efficiently than aluminium boats, making it more stable against harsh waves. However, fibreglass is generally more expensive than aluminium.
Aluminium fishing boats are lighter and are more affected by the flow of the waves. They’re also thought to be less stable. However, recent developments in aluminium technology have improved aluminium boats so much that most of their cons no longer hold true. There are many advantages of owning an aluminium boat over a fibreglass one.
Here are some strengths and advantages of aluminium boats.
Weight Advantages
Even in the era of fibreglass superiority, aluminium boats were known to be lighter. This makes them easier to transport from home to sea, and they don’t put as much pressure onto the boat trailer’s their mounted on. Their lightweight feature also allows them to require less powerful engines, therefore making them more fuel-efficient. Because of their lesser weight compared to fibreglass boats, they’re able to withstand impacts and collisions.
Widely Used and Available
Back when people fibreglass boats were the trend, aluminium vessels were still the most common boats in the water, especially in inland environments such as rivers and lakes. They were easier to manufacture, more affordable in price, easier to transport, and more fuel-efficient. Many boating centres were mostly putting up aluminium fishing boats for sale in their ranges.
They’re Always Improving
New features always come along with every new model of an aluminium fishing boat for sale. When it seemed like fibreglass boats were superior, aluminium boat companies developed innovative and creative advancements in aluminium hull technology. We see products of their dedicated researches such as the Apex Hull from Quintrex, and the Plate Hull from Yellowfin boats. These boats were known to outclass fibreglass boats in many aspects.
If you’re looking for the best aluminium boats for sale for your fishing trips, Quintrex is your best choice. Quintrex is a brand of aluminium boats for sale that features the latest developments in aluminium technology. They’re known to be strong, reliable, long-lasting, and perfect for family use.

Common Causes of Boating Accidents
Tumblr media
Boating is a fun activity enjoyed by many families in Australia. Many people who own boats enjoy launching out from their boat trailers and cruising in the country’s lush and lively seas. The number of activities you can do on the water is almost endless. You could take your family on relaxing fishing trips, and you can hook in a greater variety of fish and use many different techniques than fishing on land. You can also take your family and friends to wild aquatic sports such as paragliding, wakeboarding, and skiing. On the other hand, if you want to relax and do nothing, you can simply launch out from your boat trailer and anchor vessel in the middle of the sea. After that, it’s all about taking in the view and doing nothing more than sightseeing and enjoying Australia’s natural beauty.
With so many activities you can do on the water, both dynamic and relaxing, it’s not surprising that boating communities in Australia are growing. Along with the competitive prices of new boats in the market, people are buying fishing boats for sale instead of borrowing from their friends or paying a fishing boat rental shop.
However, with the increasing number of boats in the water driven by inexperienced drivers or operators, Australia’s boating spots can get dangerous. If you don’t have much experience in driving a tinnie, make sure to drive safely and carefully, and always be courteous to your fellow boaters. Be aware of the common causes of boating accidents and how to avoid them.
Here are the most common causes of boating mishaps and accidents.
 Distracted Driver
This is dangerous on land as much as it is at sea. As long as you’re behind your tinnie’s wheel, it’s your responsibility to keep a steady drive and to keep yourself, your passengers, and other boaters safe. Refrain from getting distracted by other activities on the boat. The only time you should leave your wheel is when you’re anchored.
Distracted drivers can make sudden turns, drive at unnatural speeds, and miss hazards in the water such as boulders and hard objects.
 Driving Under Influence
It’s never a good idea to operate any equipment, device, or machinery when under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Intoxicated boat drivers can be unpredictable, and their impaired driving abilities can lead to fatal boat crashes resulting in injury or death. If you find yourself intoxicated on the water, do not operate your boat under any circumstance. If possible, allow someone else to take you back to land.
 Reckless Driving
Just like on land, there are boat drivers who are confident with their skills in operating their fishing boats and are willing to show it off through acts of reckless driving. This includes stunts and driving at excessive speeds. Not only does this expose the driver and passengers to dangerous situations, but it also inconveniences other boaters as well. Driving at excessive speeds causes the water to break, sending violent waves to other boaters as you pass by. These waves can be strong enough to capsize small tinnies and even splash into pedestrians near the shore.

Celestial Navigation for Day and Night
Tumblr media
It’s hard for boaters to lose their way nowadays because compasses are affordable and effortless to come upon. Nearly every boating centres that offer fishing boats for sale sell compasses as well. In fact, even school supply centres and car shops have them in stock. If that’s not enough availability, the average Australian man can simply yank his phone out of his pocket and open its built-in compass application.
It’s that easy. It makes us wonder how hard marine sailors of olden times had it hard. Navigation was a learned skill that took months of education. They had to tell the alignment of the stars or the shape of the moon depending on the weather, season, date, and time of the day. People back then simply didn’t have the power to echolocate back to their homes. I’m not saying we do now, but we do have it many times easier.
However, there’s still something good about navigating using the sky – it’s a fun challenge. You get to look cool in front of your mates, and it’s an achievement you can be proud of for the rest of your boating days. You can tell your mates that when you visit boating centres to look for boat accessories and boats for sale, you would never ask for a compass (still bring one though, just in case).
Let’s look at different ways you can navigate using the sky. Once you’ve learned these, you can hop into your fishing boat and practice. However, note that you’re doing this simply as a challenge, or for fun. Always make sure to have a working compass on your fishing boat at all times.
 Using the Southern Cross
The star pattern on the Australian     flag is the Southern Cross, and maritime sailors used it to calculate the     direction of the south. Not only is it effective, but it’s also easy. If     you, do it multiple times, it’ll become second nature.
Simply look for a star pattern that looks roughly like     the ones on our flag. You’re looking for two stars close together. If you     find a pair, move your sights to the upper-left of it. If you see four     stars formed like the four tips of a cross, that’s the right one.
Trace a line from the top to the bottom of the Southern     Cross, and let it extend toward the ground.
Now, find the midpoint between the pair of stars – the     same stars we used to locate the Southern Cross. Trace a line from the     middle point of the two stars and let it intersect with the line from the     Southern Cross (the line we drew in the previous step).
The point where the lines from the two stars and the     Southern Cross intersect is south. Now that you’ve found south, just look     behind you – that’s north.
 At Day, Using Your Watch
You might have seen a post about this online, where it     shows you how to find north using your watch and the sun. Be careful with     this information. This method is correct, but it varies whether you’re in     the north or south hemisphere. For us Australians, we follow the Southern     Hemisphere method.
Level your watch parallel to the ground. Point the “12”     toward the sun. The midpoint between the number “12” and the hour hand is     North.
If you’re looking for a fishing boat for sale so you can show off your celestial navigation skills to your mates, you should head down to your nearest boating centres. For the best fishing boat, we recommend aluminium ones from Stacer. They feature the latest improvements in aluminium technology, ensuring that you have the sturdiest boat on the docks.

Tumblr media

To make the most out of your boating trips, pack your fishing gear and drive to the state of Victoria. It has lush and lively beaches and inland waters that are teeming like marine life and opportunities for fun boating activities. There are also plenty of marine services offering boats for sale in Victoria, making it a good place to make friends in the boating community.
If you own an aluminium boat in Victoria, you could take it to one of its fishing spots. Fishing is a safe and relaxing activity you can enjoy with your family. Nothing can beat the thrill of fighting a fish and reeling it in. However, fishing is not without its dangers. When you’re fishing, you can expect to handle a lot of sharp objects. I don’t mean just fishing hook and scissors – fish can bite as well.
You may be excited to get the Stacer Boat for sale in Victoria’s best boating center. But first, let’s dive in to look at the dangers of fishing and how to prevent them.
Drowning
This is probably the worst-case scenario when you’re fishing (other than getting swallowed by a croc).
Fishing is a quiet activity. However, when you get a bite, it can get thrilling. Many anglers get carried away when they hook something in. They’ll do their best to keep their catch and prevent it from escaping. This compels them to take drastic measures such as wading into the water to close their distance to the fish. In some cases, they’ll even dive into the water with no flotation device.
Even experienced swimmers can drown, and they don’t need to be underwater. Drowning only requires water to enter your lungs. If you’re diving for your catch, the splash and shock might introduce water into your airway. So, try not to do this.
If you’re fishing, don’t go alone. Always bring a companion with you.
Sharp Equipment
Knives and fishing hooks are capable of harming you. All it takes is one good cut to introduce pathogens into your body. If you have an open wound, treat it immediately to prevent infection.
Keep your equipment clean. Rusty fishing hooks and knifes don’t help anyone. They’re not effective for cutting lines or hooking fish. But if you do get hurt by one of them, you could contract some bad diseases.
Stow your equipment in safe places, especially when you have children around. Never let children handle your sharp equipment. Guide them when they’re casting their lines, so their hooks don’t go flying around.
Predators
If you’re driving your aluminium boat in Victoria, you’re bound to expose yourself to threats underwater. This is especially true for beaches and brackish waters.
Take note of the harmful creatures that lurk underwater such as crocodiles, snakes, and aggressive fish. Never dive into the water if you think there are dangerous creatures nearby.
