The idea of going out wasn’t something he always liked, but sitting around and doing nothing was also something that sounded awful sometimes. "I’m bored.” He got too antsy just sitting and doing nothing, afraid that something was going to jump out at him, or something.
“ hmm... ? ” sarah liked grayson. he didn’t ask questions about her past, and he didn't question her lack of knowledge in most subjects. if she knew the right way to use the word ‘ friend ’, she could apply it to grayson. they both had shitty, dangerous pasts that drove a wedge between them and normalcy. so, yeah, sarah liked grayson. “ yeah, i’m not busy. got anything in mind? ”

The girl has a good point. If John saw John coming with a purpose, he’d already be reciting his final wishes under his breath. John shrugs a shoulder, expression saying damn, you’re right without any actual words coming out. He turns to leave, always keeping Sarah in his peripheral, and begins (resumes) his walk.
“You should know that some stains are a little…harder to get out by hand,” he says, logging his time into his watch app and resetting the mileage. Oh, he hopes Asher’s hired help sees him walking with his daughter. The warmth of the metal blade against his ankle is a welcome feeling.
Not that John reaaaally wants to fight. Not this early. They approach the little morning cafe, the smell of warm coffee drifting into the street from the cracks in the door. He opens it for Sarah, offering to let her enter first. “Get whatever you want. And then maybe we can talk about your dad.”
For John, it’s only a coffee (black) and an egg muffin. That and a nice corner booth, and they’re good to go.
“ oh. yeah. but those stains could come out with cold water, hydrogen peroxide, and lemon. tricky, but doable. ” there’s a smile in her voice that shows her ease. she’s definitely deescalated from that scared girl in the alley pretty quickly. “ funny, no guy i’ve ever come across knows how to get blood out, even in this line of work. ”
immediately walking into the coffee shop, sarah wants to turn and run back out. customers don’t even try to hide their gazes at her disheveled and injured appearance. quickly, sarah orders a light and sweet coffee and a chocolate chip muffin at the counter before making a beeline for the bathroom.
finally, sarah can see the damage. her left cheek is cut open, and a nice bruise is forming under the same eye. dried tracks of blood from her nose run past her chin and are smeared above her lip. smaller cuts adorn the bridge of her nose and through her right eyebrow, and her skin is puffed and red. as swiftly as possible, she washes her face in the sink and dries herself off before pulling bandaids from the half-empty pack of cigarettes she had in her front pocket and gets to covering up her wounds.
five minutes later, sarah emerges from the bathroom with her face covered in white plasters and her hair tied back to join john at his booth. less people are glancing her way now, which definitely makes her feel safer. bandaged hands take hold of the warm cup of coffee in front of her and she takes a deep breath. “ so, what d’you wanna know? ”

The phone being smashed was ignored for the time being, Alaska smirking at Sarah’s reply. There was just a nod as Alaska pocketed the flash drive, grabbing the body and hoisting it over her shoulder, looking to the other.
“Hey, I got a gas can in the trunk of my car. Grab it for me?” She didn’t really wait for a reply, pushing the door open and heading out into the night-covered city. Alaska just dumped the body in a dumpster, making sure he fit in there completely; now just need the gas. She figured burning the body would be the most fun way to dispose of it, ‘sides, not like they were gonna stay here and wait for it to be done.
“ dude, ” she laughs under her breath. sarah hangs her head and follows alaska, an amused smile plastered to her face. “ why did you choose to be a criminal when you could have just taken up pro wrestling instead and made an honest living for yourself, while also suplexing everyone you meet? ”
once more, sarah does as she’s told, pulling the can of gas from the car and totes it over to the dumpster. she hands the can to alaska to pour over the body, because honestly, sarah is way too short to even see into the trash. “ so we roasting marshmallows over this guy or what? ”

Leaning back in the desk he shrugged - it wasn’t like he could change it. But he’d live, besides, it wasn’t like he hasn’t jumped ship on a prank before. He was just mad because it was him that got caught.
The words pulled a laugh from Gavin and he sat up straighter again, that was a good one. He got an idea, which wasn’t usually a good sign according to Michael. But Michael wasn’t there to berate him. So without thinking much about it he let his mouth run off, “well since I’m stuck without the boys maybe you’d be game for some teenage shenanigans after detention?” If his friends were hanging out without him he’d probably just go home but, maybe he could pull this off.
for a second she’s caught off guard by the offer. she was really confused that her terrible attempt to cheer him up actually worked. after shaking off the initial confusion, a smile tugs at her face. “ teenage shenanigans, you say? i’m in. what have you got in mind, flyboy? ”
really, even if she didn’t think gavin seemed funny, she would have gone just to avoid going home for as long as she could. with her mom and siblings gone, she only had her dad left to freak out on her for either getting in trouble in the first place, or not knocking the girl out who hit her. either way, she’d rather avoid the situation altogether. hanging out with gav seemed like a cool alternative.
