There is something so healing about becoming “boring”.
I used to be the friend with the full calendar and the wild dating stories and who always had some kind of drama happening that I would reenact enthusiastically for whoever would listen. There were so many moving parts and I felt the pressure to constantly move with them. To be present and on show and busy.
But I’ve slowed down now and it is, honestly, fucking brilliant.
I’m reading again.
I let myself rest. I’m going to bed earlier and sleeping better.
I’ve stopped drinking.
I’m teaching myself to properly cook.
I’ve built healthy boundaries with my job.
I taught myself how to cross stitch.
I let go of friendships and relationships that didn’t make me feel good.
I’m growing my own vegetables.
I’m repairing my relationship with my body image.
I know people think turning 30 is the end of the world, but it’s truly been the start of a new one for me. And it’s one where I’m emotionally healthier and happier than ever.
