Hualian is a great pairing cause you start reading the books and Hua Cheng is this elusive mysterious man and you have no idea why he’s so nice, he’s probably scheming GASP what does he want in return for all this help????
And then you get to the end and find out that the man is the biggest simp imaginable. Everything he owns is for Dianxia, everything he did is for him. He is one luckiest man in love with the unluckiest man alive and they are so fucking soft for each other its impossible

I can’t shake the feeling that Hua Cheng must’ve been so overwhelmed seeing the version of Dianxia he met on that ox cart. Like he would trust, support, and love even the darkest version of Xie Lian imaginable, but the one he ended up meeting, after everything, was gentle, sweet, adorable, delightfully silly, honest, and unguarded, ready to protect the old man driving the ox cart and share his steamed bun with a stranger.
Scenes from many gut-wrenching moments probably flashed before his eyes, yet here was his Dianxia, within reach. And they were just having a chat—not as a redacted and his redacted—just two people on a chance encounter on a beautiful autumn day. Hua Cheng’s heart must’ve felt so full that it was about to burst.
At the same time, he probably wanted so much more than having a casual conversation about the water tyrant. Imagine the amount of self-restraint he had to not just blurt out “where have you been??” “How have you been??” “Give me a list of people and creatures who have ever mistreated you in any way in the past 800 years…”

i do think theres something sad about how largely only the literature that's considered especially good or important is intentionally preserved. i want to read stuff that ancient people thought sucked enormous balls

had a dream that I met a wizard and we fell in love and became unhealthily attached to each other so we decided to meld into one single creature together but the process was horrifically slow and painful and most of the dream was us lying in bed holding hands while lesions opened up in our skin and seeped out blue and green fluid and the wizard said "this is going to take a very very long time" and I said "that's ok"

@ your anons talking abt Bushnell's protest saying they don't wanna kill themselves...
They've got some fucking balls to imply Bushnell did. That he did this out of suicidal ideation, not out of a wish for a better world. To imply, infer, ASSUME, that this was suicide, to assume it is not the most selfless and the most desperate act of protest against an atrocity we feel helpless against - against something he feels personally complicit in because of the country he grew up in and chose to serve.
My fucking god. Or marx. Or whatever the fuck else you wanna insert there.
So basically what I'm saying, self immolation isn't powerful bec it's someone dying... Its powerful because that person doesn't want to die - at least, no more than all the innocent lives currently being lost. The only difference is Bushnell had a choice. Palestinians don't.
yeah. quite honestly, i dont think people want to admit that they have a choice to do something more. i will openly admit the reason i havent put my life on the line and died for socialism and anti imperialism yet is because im not brave enough and have too much to lose in my life at this current juncture. obviously its a difficult thing, as i keep saying yet with no avail lmao. but its commendable and i have respect for people who make that difficult choice, and respect for the people who fought because they had no other option
