I love fan writers, RPers and other fan artists so much, y’all. I really, truly do.
You guys are out here, doing stuff because you love it, because you have a passion and a drive and you want to share that passion with others.
Even if you stall out, get writers block, you lose your muse, lose your voice or your ambition, even if you leave a fandom for whatever reason or move on to a new one, even if you never check your comments or your likes anymore, even if you’ve moved on to original works, your fanwork made and continues to make SOMEONE ELSE HAPPY. That’s huge.
Happiness in a world of negativity is such a shining, beautiful thing. Don’t ever forget it.

Yarako: It's called a meme.
Ayame: I know what it is. What I want to know is why you're emulating it.

I was watching Death Note last night and saw the banana face. It just came out of nowhere, and it made me burst out laughing. Then I started imagining Yamazaki Kento recreating that shot. It made me laugh even more. 😂

Seeing Ryuzaki smile makes Ayame relax a little. Slightly. She won’t get too complacent -- the last image she wants to convey is a nonchalant or careless attitude. She is neither of those things.
Ayame sits like he asks her to, grateful that she doesn’t have to stand awkwardly as they spoke. The awkward standing tactic is one that Chief Yagami uses on her all the time, and it’s nerve-wracking every time it happens. He lays out cases while keeping his desk between them, and he never offers her a chair. Maybe he tries to test her resolve or her patience by refusing to let her sit. Whatever the reason, Ayame gets the impression that she can let go of that stiffness in Ryuzaki’s presence. Just a little. He is already more welcoming than Chief Yagami is.
She loosens up her shoulders, which had been tense as she walked into the room. If she betrays any misgiving, Ryuzaki will no doubt be able to see it. He has a reputation for being incredibly intuitive, so he can probably read her every move. He could watch her blink once and be able to tell what it means, just like Noriko. In fact, he probably learned that ability from her. Noriko is a master of reading body language. If Ryuzaki has been mentored by her, then Ayame needs to be conscious of everything she says and does. The same is true whenever she is around Nori -- no, Junko. Ayame needs to remember to use her foster mother’s NPA alias.
Looking at Ryuzaki now, she decides that showing him courtesy would be a good starting point. Of course, they are going to be working together. She wants their relationship to be cordial.
“You don’t need to apologize, it’s no worry.” Ayame releases a short sigh before adding, “Waiting is part of the job. Detectives don’t have information handed to them. They need to seek it out. Life never spoon feeds anyone.”
She glances at the file which sits on Ryuzaki’s desk. The label reads, “CONFIDENTIAL - Organ theft in South Korea.” Her eyes widen slightly at the words.
Organ theft? No one mentioned that. Ayame returns her gaze to the young man across from her, understanding now why he was chosen for this case. Not just any ordinary member of the NPA could handle something of this size -- they need Ryuzaki, who has solved all the biggest international cases in recent years.
Ayame smiles as she looks at the folder. Well, they also need her. Unbeknownst to the other members of the NPA, except Junko, she is half-Korean through her mother. Ayame’s mother left when she was a baby, leaving only a Death Note behind for her heartbroken father to deal with. Ayame has no memory of her, but despite her decision to walk out on her family, her mother did do one thing right: She taught Ayame’s father to speak Korean, then he taught the language to his daughter.
“There are Korean documents related to the case,” Ayame declares, smiling directly at Ryuzaki now. “I speak and read Korean. If you like, I will translate the documents into Japanese. We need all the information if we want to solve the case, so we need to bypass the language barrier.”
