Majima and Nishiki knew each other even if briefly in ‘88. What’s Majima thinking about what really went down while everyone is assuming Nishiki is useless? He would definitely see the shift in him. Would he ever confront him outside of any necessary job interactions before or after the switch? Or does he just watch from afar?

WORD!!!!!!!! Like, Shimmy boy should've had more of a role in 0, but he kinda was just, like. There. Sagawa had more of a role than he did. Hell, Nishitani was what Shimano should've been, really. Considering the Mad Dog Style. Even if it was unlocked thanks to the caberet minigame (NOT BASHING IT. IT WAS THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE GAME. I WANNA BE YOUR GIRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLL). Like. They could've really pushed the shimano angle in 0 but pretty much chose not to. And they chose not to in future games too! Flashbacks? Heard of them? Maybe they didn't want to make Majima's origins that dark (Shimano and his effect on Majima is pretty dark), considering how lighthearted the series can be at times. Still! I would've liked to see it.

It's not like he has an irl actor face claim, i don't think? he's a great character visually + story-wise, it seems a waste. the one reason i could see (besides canon writing go brrrrr) is that he's a product of a period that's no longer around in later games, but even then it would be fun to see him adapt (or fail).

It was, originally, a one-off. I think its popularity was a surprise, and that's why there really wasn't much continuation between Y1 and Y2. Sure Terada came back as a Secret Korean(TM) but come on, really? Like, great! Y'know? When there's precedent for success there's gonna be more chance of a sorta continous plot. But, since there wasn't with Y1, well, there wasn't. Sure, Y0 helped a lil', but you can't do much with "That guy who dies at the end of the sequel" because you wanna focus on Majima more. How he came to be. (Even if I feel that, even then, like, come on. You can do better than that! Why did they have to include Nishitani man!!!!!!!!!!!!) You get me? Like. The Yakuza series has never been the bastion of Look! Context! But I wish it was. That's what I appreciate in a story. A continuation, really. You're right. The period is gone. Like, literally. It's forgotten. Every game has the same problem. It's kinda just like. Yakuza 1+(X). I would've loved to see him in later games. Adapt, fail, or anything in between!
