I Am Not Your Asian American Doll: a comic for AAPI Heritage Month 2023
I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. But honestly, I’m really tired of the way Asian cultures and countries are treated / talked about while Asian people themselves are excluded, and thought it was about time I really let my rage out lol.
When factory owners refused to let him in, progressive photographer Lewis Hine sometimes lied about who he was, posing as a fire inspector, industrial photographer, and even a Bible salesman to gain entry into workplaces.
What he found in these places was shocking.
Some children were too small to reach the machines; employers found ways to get them to work anyway: “This little girl like many others in this state [Tennessee] is so small she has to stand on a box to reach her machine.”

Look, we joke a lot, but really, "you were born evil, wretched, worse than the scum of the earth, and it took killing a god to make you salvageable, so now you'd better be grateful to that god and thank him 10,000 times a day for it and fill your thoughts with him 24/7 and abide by the letter of his every word, lest you suffer unimaginable torture for all of eternity" is a truly horrendous thing to believe about yourself and other people
