The sun was rising in New Orleans. The street cars were filling up with people making their way across town to wherever they needed to go. The smell of cafes filled the air as they opened their doors to the morning crowd. This also meant it was time to get out onto the street and find some business.
Dr. Facilier made his way out onto the street corner. He leaned back against a wall behind him, making himself comfortable as he waited for some poor desperate soul to ask the Shadow Man for a solution to all their problems. He had a reputation, sure, that much was obvious in the looks that people gave him. However, when people want something bad enough, they tend to do anything.
There was someone in the crowd that stood out to him now. A slender girl, with red hair and a green dress that certainly didn’t fit in with the fashions around here. His eyes were drawn up to the gold that rested upon her head, which looked very much like a tiara. And that, to him, said money. Hmm..
Facilier moved away from his corner, snaking through the crowd to cross paths with this lady. “I couldn’t help but notice, my dear, I’ve never seen you ‘round here before. First time in New Orleans?”
Facilier’s expression turned into a frown as he heard the word ‘Denmark’. Denmark? As in...the Denmark? The country of Denmark? Miles and miles away from Louisiana? Haha, yes, spirits, this is very funny.
His eyes turned to look across the ocean he had found himself beside. At least that was somewhat familiar. “I see...the name’s Dr. Facilier.” His charming smile returned. “Wonderful to meet you, Ariel. Lovely name.” He then directed his gaze up towards the castle. Was that an actual castle? Did Denmark have a lot of these? ...it only meant royalty. “Quite a nice place up there. Looks expensive.”
Although Ariel is no longer tied to the ocean in the way she once was, the beach is still on the many places in the human world she can retreat to and feel completely at peace it helps that the castle she now calls home is built directly on the beach as she is never far from the comfort the sea brings for her. The former mermaid has learned from her few months spent on land that there will always be saltwater running through her veins no matter how thoroughly she acclimates herself with the world above.
Ariel can feel the pull of the tide from where she stands not to far by the waters edge her blue peasant dress rippling in the breeze around her feet as she watches the rise and fall of the waves before her, she has made a habit out of coming here alone at least once daily, simply to feel connected to her family whom are still residing under the waves. She releases a sigh as she dips her toes in the cool water.
She soon becomes aware of the another’s presence just after she finishes laughing to herself about that one time she and flounder first discovered collecting human ‘treasures’ her cerulean hues looked up to see an unfamiliar man standing behind her. “Why, yes. This is Denmark sir” She spoke in a sweet tone of voice brushing a strand of her red hair back behind her ear. “I’m Ariel, who might you be?”
There's a lot of magic people out there. Do you know many? Or do you stick to yourself?
“Well, of course I know some. Here in Louisiana, we got aaaaaall types of magic. Some folks just never look for it. But as for myself, I tend to work alone. People ‘round here know my name and if they need me, they can find me.”
