“Poppy? Poppy, what’s wrong?”
The Techno Queen looked up from her daydream and faced her King.
“Just a...well, I wouldn’t consider it a bad dream per se, but it was a weird one regardless.”
Trollex took his place beside Poppy and clasped one hand in hers.
“Tell me...unless you don’t want to talk about it?”
Poppy giggled at Trollex’s flustered expression as she shook her head, “No, it’s okay. It’s just that...I don’t think these dreams I’ve been having are dreams at all. I think they’re visions.”
“Of what?” Trollex raised his eyebrows.
“Of things to come. Either something good or something bad. I mean, some of the dreams suggest alternate universes where either you or me are the bad guys.”
“You? The bad guy?” Trollex wanted to laugh, but he decided he should not, “I mean, I can understand me, but...you?”
“Don’t laugh. I know it sounds crazy, but...I’ve seen myself as the bad guy. It’s scary.”
“Oh,” Trollex internally cringed, “I’ll just take your word for it. I was gonna ask you if this was the first dream you had, but you said dreams earlier, so...”
“Yeah, they all started a few months ago...”
“Months? Poppy, why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“You’re the King, Trollex. You have more important things to deal with.”
“But they’re not as important as the wellbeing of my Queen.”
Trollex turned to face Poppy and plant a soft kiss on her lips, which became deeper with each passing minute...
