(( I like the idea of using the emptiness to let Godling drift back to who he was meant to be before he got sucked into the irresistable magnetism of the evil Bakuras ))

"Can we please not insult my friends?" Joey asked with a frown," Jus stick to insultin me, I'd prefer that."
He was a little annoyed that the other had a bit of a point though," I mean, he probably didn't need me at all I guess. I jus did it. I tried to help where I could."
"It's not an insult, it's an observation. He has other strengths, like being cheerful and small." His smile was less sweet and more amused. "I don't think he'd want you to say that anyway. What kind of strong protector tells his enemies he wants to be talked down to?"
"Hm. I'm sure. If you'd worked with me I'd have protected you. We'd have all played equal roles."

"Well- 'Cause Yugi started trustin him and I trust Yugi," Joey frowned," and he's done a lot for us. He's been a good friend to me," he looked a little embarrassed as he admitted the next part," And he made me feel hopeful."
He looked confused at the last part," He didn't tell me to punch though, I did stuff like that on my own. To protect." Even so he didn't feel all that powerful with his brain choosing now to pick at his insecurities.
"The vessel?" He scoffed. "He's a puppy. He'd trust a starving beast not to bite. He wouldn't know how to identify danger if it was naked infront of him. Or if it was infecting his mind. Hes cute but you shouldn't use him as your judge."
Godling just looked at him like he was stupid.
"I'm sure he made you think it was your idea. The thousand year old Pharaoh with stolen magic powers needed you to defend him?"

For now, he ignored the comments about Atem and Yugi, it wasn't worth the argument. He wasn't exactly wrong about, well any of that. Joey frowned.
"Bad is a bit of an understatement, why do you think I'm not strong?" That kind of bothered him, it was definitely an insecurity. He'd risked his life for people, that was strong wasn't it? It shouldn't matter if part of his reasoning stemmed from a need to prove he was useful. The want to protect his friends was still valid.
"I don't know your situation." He dismissed. "Only the basics I got from my host. But if you're so sensitive to injustice, why didn't you ask questions of the man calling himself a God?"
"Hm? What power do you have then? It's not about how hard you punch. It's who tells you when to punch. The Pharaoh."

The night was cool and clear, with stars shining in the inky sky and streetlights the only representative of the day struggling to remain outside its domain. It was the perfect time for Bakura. Darkness filled the city, Godlings senses expanded with it. Perfect for spotting squirrelly little Pharaoh's sneaking around.
It wasn't very Pharaoh like for him to skulk, to stay on side streets and alleyways, to scurry around radiating anxiety. So of course, he had to investigate.
"Pharaoh." He hissed, letting his voice radiate from all the shadows around Atem until it would be hard to tell where he was speaking from if not for the red glow of his eyes. "What are you hiding from?"
@shadowgodling He couldn’t believe he had ran out of gods damned sugar. How was he supposed to make cookies without sugar. Off to the store he went. Since there were no actual supermarkets open at this hour of night, he had bought the local Lawsons out of all the sugar they had. He hefted his eco bag up on his shoulder and continued on his way home.  He of course took the back way. The main streets were too close to places he had been before in a different life. In a life where hanging out with friends was the norm. This life though, this life was different. This life, Atem avoided his friends. He needed them to be safe, but he hated it. He didn’t want to hide, but he honestly felt he had no choice.  He was lost in thought, wishing for a time that felt so long ago. A time when he had friends, a time before he had left…

"Yea? If I did somethin to hurt someone I'm sorry, that's kinda how it works," Joey frowned, he didn't enjoy hurting people. Maybe when he was in the gang and still working shit out, but for the most part that had passed. At the very least he'd never intentionally hurt someone who didn't deserve it," I'm not a pet though and I don't think he considered me one either."
With that said, Joey still had a bone to pick," So what do yuh know bout me?" He was more than a little curious about the impression he'd given.
That only made him smile. How cute and misinformed.
"Then you're better than the company you kept. That's what I keep telling your friend the Vessel, he's wasted on the Pharaoh."
Godling shrugged, folding his arms. He didn't like being tested.
"You're the Pharaoh's muscle You've got a sister. Your parents were bad. You value loyalty. You want to be strong and hate people that remind you you're not. You have good qualities you put into the wrong things."

"It's... less jovial than that. They're not people who are particularly worth the loyalty, but there was a death in the family and I had to help settle estates. Boring stuff. Honestly, I'm just glad to be home. They're all so horribly exhausting and not very good people to begin with." Ryou shrugged. "I just wanted to come see a friendly face."
"You can always come and see me. Or call me and I'll come and see you. I can be anywhere you need. That's my thing." He didn't think that sounded very nice, but who was he to talk about non ideal families?
"It speaks well of you to be loyal in those circumstances as well. Even if you deserve better. So, are you really still making your dolls?"

Joey glared, but it faltered a little," I wouldn't intentionally hurt someone, if I helped do that I'm sorry. I don't know much bout yuh, I admit it," he was still angry, but he could admit he didn't know much about the other," Still doesn't mean I'm not strugglin though. Even if yours is worse."
The apology went a long way. Godling's expression grew less severe, more suspicious.
"You're sorry? Well, I was talking more about the Pharaoh than you. He is good at dazzling people he wants as his pets."

He laughed and attempted to hug back. "Ah, as best I've been able to... I had to deal with some family issues but it's taken care of now. I didn't mean to be gone so long or so abruptly."
Godling squished him just a little tighter before loosening the hug so they could speak easier.
"It's alright. Being loyal to your family is important. I had people that needed me too. The important part is us coming back together now. I am glad you're alright. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize strugglin was a pissin contest," Joey hissed, his blood boiling," I didn't say I struggled more than yuh or anyone else, but I definitely have and if yuh knew anythin bout me and if there is anythin good in yuh, yuh wouldn't be sayin that right now!"
"It became one when you and the Pharaoh decided to put all your efforts into making my peoples struggles worse." He snapped. "What do you know about me that makes you think you can yell at me?"
